Text regarding product support was clarified.
At a GlanceMaximize your e-business opportunities with database application management products that will provide the smooth and efficient support your business deserves.
For ordering, contact: Your IBM representative, an IBM Business Partner, or IBM Americas Call Centers at 800-IBM-CALL (Reference: LE001). OverviewEfficient database management is the key to success in today's rapidly evolving e-business world. IBM can guide you on your way to cost-effective utilization of your database management environments with these new and repositioned tools:
Let IBM give you the edge by providing you with the ability to:
Simplify your business procedures and increase revenue with added business value. To learn more about these offerings, refer to the Description section of this announcement. Key Prerequisites

DescriptionIBM DB2 Bind ManagerUse of DB2 Bind Manager can pay major dividends in change management, since it will automatically detect production application changes requiring a bind. This frees DBAs from analyzing bind impacts and allows them to concentrate only on the changes that affect the SQL structure. Consistency checking may be done between an existing DBRMLIB and a DB2 subsystem using the DBRM Checker function of DB2 Bind Manager. DBRM Checker will identify DBRMs by plan that have consistency tokens inconsistent with those in the DB2 catalog tables. You can determine which of the DBRMs you need to bind. An application may have hundreds of packages (that is, DBRMs) making up one plan. If you only changed one, then you only need to bind that one package.
Using the Path Checker function of DB2 Bind Manager, you can quickly
determine whether a bind of a DBRM will result in a changed access path.
This is usually done when a new release (or version) of DB2 is installed,
service is applied, or you are migrating a large application from one
system to another. You've spent many hours fine tuning the SQL for
performance only to have the optimizer select a path you didn't expect.
By using Path Checker, you can see the effects of doing a bind (or having
done a bind). Path Checker does an EXPLAIN into your plan table of the
"new" DBRM and gives you a report on those that changed. You can then
use any EXPLAIN tool to look at the result and determine whether you need
to take action or not.
IBM DB2 Web Query ToolPrior to today's announcement of DB2 Web Query Tool, connecting to enterprise data most likely involved a huge amount of effort and, let's face it, grief. Complex configurations, obscure procedures, and in-depth user training were necessary preparation steps in order to access and finally be productive using enterprise data. The resulting time, effort, expense, and, above all, waiting created a latency a gap between opportunity and action that cost your organization every time it happened, perhaps thousands of times a day. DB2 Web Query Tool changes this old paradigm and helps eliminate the pain previously associated with data access. With DB2 Web Query Tool, end users and administrators have a single, powerful tool for bringing data access into the e-business age with speed, reliability, and simplicity. DB2 Web Query Tool sets a new standard for business responsiveness because now anyone in your organization can take robust data access for granted, virtually anywhere and at anytime. Less latency; less waiting; and less waste means more opportunity to you and your organization.
With the trusted architecture of DB2, DB2 Web Query Tool enables
pervasive connectivity over the Internet to every desktop from the novice
user to the expert.
IBM IMS Program Restart FacilityIBM's new IMS Program Restart Facility automatically assigns the most recent checkpoint ID to jobs that are being restarted because of an earlier abnormal termination. Using this automatic restart tool will ensure that no amended job is started with a valid but incorrect checkpoint ID or worse, without any checkpoint ID being allocated. This program is designed to prevent the costly and time-consuming database recoveries that can arise from manual restart errors. Extended restart support sets aside the checkpoint records in the IMS log required for a checkpoint restart and automatically makes them available to the job requiring a restart. No manual JCL changes are required to provide the correct log data set names.
A number of additional benefits can be utilized. However, JCL or
application programming changes may be necessary.
IBM IMS ConnectIMS Connect provides enhanced IMS TCP/IP support including:
IMS Connect requires the IMS TM feature, but much of the above function in IMS Connect (other than asynchronous output support) can be used with terminals, applications, and data still running under IMS V5 or V6. Customers can thus successfully choose the IMS Connect ahead of a full migration to IMS V6 or IMS V7. Future enhancements to IMS TCP/IP support will only be provided through IMS Connect for IMS V7. IBM also provides access to IMS from the S/390® LINUX® operating system through IMS Connect. IMS Connect can be used by an application running on Linux/390 or any other S/390 system in the enterprise. Additionally, IMS Connect provides enhancements for IMS V7 through the service process. This includes Local Support, without TCP/IP, when communicating from a Web-serving application to IMS in a S/390 environment.
IMS Connect also provides Unicode support for IMS V7 through the service
process. This provides the ability to send Unicode application data to
an IMS host application capable of dealing with Unicode, such as a
Java application running in IMS.
Subscription and SupportBase support for these products is included as part of the one-time charge for the product and is provided by the IBM Support Center via mail or fax. It is subject to the terms of the IBM International Program License Agreement (IPLA) contained in the program package and includes resolution of defects in the IBM program. This support is available until the end-of-service date listed in this announcement. IBM is also providing enhanced subscription and support for these products via a separately purchased offering under the terms of the IBM International Agreement for Acquisition of Support (IAAS). This offering:
New License Agreement for Selected S/390 Software
IBM is announcing selected S/390 software products with revised
provisions. These products are licensed under the IPLA, and support is
provided under the Agreement for Acquisition of Support and its Addendum
(Z125-6336). These programs have a one-time license charge for use of
the program and an ongoing recurring charge for enhanced support that
includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal
business hours) as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of
the program as long as support is in effect. SupportLine is an option
for those customers who desire added services.
Year 2000
These products are Year 2000 ready. When used in accordance with their
associated documentation, they are capable of correctly processing,
providing, and/or receiving date data within and between the twentieth
and twenty-first centuries, provided that all products (for example,
hardware, software, and firmware) used with the products properly
exchange accurate date data with them.
Euro CurrencyThese programs are not impacted by euro currency.
