The courses provided in the products of WLS are either:
Each WLS product will include, at each CATIA release, an update course based on the content covered by the product. Courses can be seen as sets of skillets assembled into lessons to best suit general and industrial process scenarios. They are carefully designed in order to provide a progressive level of difficulty to the learner. The CATIA User Companion for Mechanical Design, however, allows the course to be run in any sequence. It always provides a view on the topics previously covered and those not yet addressed. CATIA Version 5 Release 3 WLS Products: Each product of WLS includes the CATIA User Companion Desktop required to run the learning resources (skillets, job aids, and courses) delivered with the product. One product, CATIA User Companion for Mechanical Design, is available for Version 5 Release 3. The following CATIA Version 5 products are covered by CATIA User Companion for Mechanical Design (Platform 2 Products):
This product is ideally suited for the users of the CATIA Version 5 Mechanical Design 2 Configuration. Year 2000These products do not have date dependencies and are Year 2000 ready. All components of CATIA WLS are Year 2000 compliant. Planning InformationInstallability: The CATIA WLS products are delivered on CD-ROM, including documentation. It is designed so that customers can install the system, customize it, and get started with few manual interventions and minimum skills within one hour. Preventive service is delivered through the next release of CATIA WLS. The new release will include corrections to problems, depending on the time of their submission and their severity. Corrective Service for CATIA WLS is delivered through "Service Packs" on a regular basis. A Service Pack includes corrections for blocking problems only. Each Service Pack supersedes the previous one and may be installed on top of the released level or on top of a previous Service Pack. Service Packs are available at the same time for all platforms currently supported. No individual correction will be delivered between two Service Packs. No update for online documentation will be provided through Service Packs. Service Packs are available on CD-ROM via the IBM Support Centers for the duration of the service of each release. Once a release has been discontinued from service, only the last Service Pack will remain available for ordering through IBM Support Centers. Customers may report problems for any given release of CATIA WLS for a limited time only. This reporting period ends four months after the general availability of the second subsequent release of CATIA WLS. Customers may request a correction via a Service Pack for blocking problems. These requests for a given release of CATIA WLS may be made up to 4 months after the next release of CATIA WLS. Maintenance support will be available until discontinued by IBM upon six months' written notice. Direct Customer Support: Direct customer support is provided under the Engineering Support Services Enhanced Support Offering. This fee service enhances the customer's productivity by providing voice and electronic access to the Engineering Solutions Support Center. The Enhanced Support Offering help desk will answer questions pertaining to the installation, administration, use, and handling of suspected software defects for eligible products. For purposes of the Enhanced Support Offering, WLS is treated as a product. A valid contract for a CATIA Version 5 Enhanced Support configuration is a prerequisite to obtaining support for WLS. New users of CATIA User Companion for Mechanical Design should specify:
Type Model 5691 MDC 5691 MDE An order for CATIA User Companion for Mechanical Design basic licensed programs consists of one or more licensed program orders (5691-XXX), and one System Program Order (SPO), 5628-ACN, for NT workstations. The 5691-XXX orders are required for billing and asset registration. The 5628-ACN orders are required to ship machine-readable materials and publications. Basic License: To order a basic license for a 5691 program type, specify the program number (5691-XXX) and feature number 9001 for asset registration. Select the charge option, either primary license charge (PLC) with the corresponding quantity-based annual license charge (ALC), or the quantity-based yearly license charge (YLC). PLC/ALC Licenses: The first license must be at usage level 1. The maximum number of licenses at a usage level must be ordered before ordering the next usage level. When licenses are discontinued, the licenses at the higher usage level must be discontinued first. YLC Licenses: The YLC feature numbers specified will depend on the usage level ordered for the license for a given customer number. The first license must be at usage level 1. The maximum number of licenses at a usage level must be ordered before ordering the next usage level. When licenses are discontinued, the licenses at the higher usage level must be discontinued first. CATIA Version 5 User Companion for Mechanical Design (5691-MDC) PLC Feature Number: 0011

For orders of CATIA for NT platforms, configure CATIA using the PCRS6000 configurator, but before executing a SYSLINK of the order to AAS, change the 5691-XXX order using the feature number 5353. Specify the feature number 5353 with a quantity equal to the number of users. System Program Order5628-ACN SPO CATIA Version 5 WLS programs for Microsoft Windows NT will be shipped under the 5628-ACN SPO. The SPO is required for all program shipments and future updates. Initial orders placed for a program type 5691 without a corresponding order or MES for the 5628-ACN SPO will either fail order validation, or will not generate a media shipment. The SPO is designated to the processor on which the program type 5691 is licensed. Each customer number must have its own SPO. Initial Orders: When ordering the first 5691-XXX product for CATIA Version 5 WLS, an order must also be placed for the 5628-ACN SPO. Both the 5691-XXX program order and the SPO must be for the same CPU system type/system number, and have the same scheduled shipment date. Subsequent Licenses: The SPO must have a feature number for every CATIA Version 5 WLS product that is installed or on-order. Therefore, when a product that was not previously installed is ordered, the SPO must be updated. To Update an On-Order System: When a license for a new 5691 program is ordered for an on-order system, the 5628-ACN SPO must be updated to reflect the feature number of the licensed program desired. Also, for asset registration and billing purposes an order for the individual licensed program type 5691 is required. To Update an Installed System: When a license for a new 5691 program is ordered for an installed system, the 5628-ACN SPO must be updated to reflect the feature number of the licensed program desired. 5628-ACN Feature Numbers: The following program feature numbers are used with the 5628-ACN SPO to show which configurations and products are installed. This information is used for shipment of media. The maximum quantity of each of the features that may be specified is one for each of the 5691 programs.
