DB2 OLAP Starter Kit is included with each of the DB2 Universal Database^® offerings with the exception of DB2 Satellite Edition. Its online analytical processing capabilities allows users to:

• Share the applications among a work group

Its easy-to-use interface to build and manage OLAP applications is based on the industry-leading Hyperion Essbase analytic engine. This DB2 OLAP Starter Kit is specially tailored for easy installation and use, and provides components of the DB2 OLAP Integration Server, an Administration Manager, and OLAP spreadsheet plug-ins for Excel and Lotus^® 1-2-3^®.

Relational OLAP: New SQL functions for moving aggregates, such as moving average and moving sum, are now available for analytical queries. They comply with the proposed OLAP Addendum to SQL-99.

  • Trap dynamic SQL queries regardless of the Query Interface.
  • Trap SQL queries exceeding specified threshold execution cost.

  • Allow automatic restart following a database server failure.

  • Restart and quiesce Query Patroller agents on individual DB2 UDB EEE nodes.

The Information Catalog Manager , previously provided with Visual Warehouse^®, is now an integral component of DB2 Warehouse Manager . It helps end users find, understand, and access available information by:

• Populating the catalog through metadata interchange with the Data Warehouse Center and other analytical and reporting tools.
• Allowing users to directly register shared information objects.
• Providing navigation or searching across the objects to find relevant information.
• Displaying the metadata about the object.

QMF for Windows is included with the DB2 Warehouse Manager to provide a multipurpose query tool for business reporting, data sharing, server resource protection, robust application development and native connectivity to all of the DB2 workstation platforms. It allows users to:

• Build queries and reports easily via its quick start interface.
• Use the new Java-based query capability to launch queries from their favorite browser.
• Easily integrate query results with desktop tools such as spreadsheets and personal databases.
• Rapidly build data access and update applications.
• Fully exploit DB2 performance, SQL syntax, and advanced database performance techniques such as static SQL.

Also, the Administrator component controls resource consumption by user group through detailed permissions by group, schedule, or both.

DB2 Spatial Extender , a separately priced feature, allows users to integrate spatial data into their business queries. It supports 13 spatial types to model real-world entities such as location of customers, boundary of parks, course of rivers, and path of cable lines. It conforms to the OpenGIS Consortium (OGC) and ISO standards for storing, indexing, and querying spatial data.

Web Ready

Built for the Web, DB2 supports all the key Internet standards. A Web server, the XML Extender, and built-in Java support make it easy for you to deploy e-business applications.

DB2 Net Search Extender is a feature that can be ordered separately to address the search requirements of e-commerce and Web self-service applications. It allows extremely fast, in-memory, full-text searches, including word or phrase, fuzzy, and wildcard searches. In addition, the following benefits can be realized:

• Works seamlessly with text data contained in DB2.
• Able to handle heavy text search demands of larger Web sites.
• Designed to rapidly search and index data without locking database tables.
• Stored procedure uses standardized SQL/MM search interface.

DB2 XML Extender is provided with each DB2 Universal Database server product. DB2 now allows you to store eXtensible Markup Language (XML) documents as a new column data type. You also have the ability to decompose and store XML in its component parts as columns in multiple tables. In either case, indices can be defined over the element or attribute of an XML document for fast retrieval. Furthermore, text search and section search can be enabled on the XML column or its decomposed part via DB2 Text Extender. You can also formulate an XML document from existing DB2 tables for data interchange in business-to-business environments. To facilitate business-to-consumer applications, Net.Data^® and the XML Extender can be used to generate XML documents from DB2 and distribute to consumers via a browser.

Net.Data, a core Web enabling technology for DB2, is provided with each DB2 Universal Database offering. Enhancements with this release are:

• Support for new DB2 XML data types provided by XML Extender.
• Macro switch to XML or HTML output for built-in functions, default formatting of tables, and query results.
• Generating XML documents from DB2 tables.
• Attaching files to e-mail message and uploading browser files.

WebSphere: A complimentary copy of WebSphere Application Server, Standard Edition Version 3.02 is included in the DB2 server product package. It provides the Java servlet environment supported by the IBM Network Computing Framework for e-business, and tools like VisualAge^® for Java. With the combination of WebSphere Application Server and Net.Data, and support for servlets, you can use new or existing Net.Data macros with other servlets created using e-business tools. Application Development

DB2 delivers the tools, including Java and Web tools, you need to rapidly deploy applications on the Internet or anywhere. Here are the enhancements in this release:

• Declared temporary tables allowing applications that can create and use temporary tables for the duration of database connection.
• Application save points, providing the developer the ability to group several SQL statements into executable block. If any statement in the block fails, only that statement is rolled back. At the end of the block, execution can continue or be rolled back to the save point.
• Identity Columns providing assignment of sequential numbers to rows in a table, which are DBMS-generated with guaranteed uniqueness.
• Simplified stored procedure development with the new and improved Stored Procedure Builder supporting SQL and Java stored procedures.
• Ability to write UDF containing a single SQL statement, allowing Scalar function, row functions, and table functions.
• Ability to define a column in a table where column values are pre-computed automatically using an expression. This can save time and money where expression evaluation can be very expensive if performed often, or where evaluation is expensive even if done occasionally (such as spatial calculations).
• Ability to create an index on a generated column, as an alternative to either having them specified by a user on insert/update, which is error prone, or specified by triggers, which are complex to implement.
• Building OLE-DB Applications under Windows with DB2 client support for OLE DB 2.0. This provides native, high-performance implementation and supports applications using ADO APIs. Integrated support for OLE stored procedures is also introduced.
• Building Applications with MS Visual Studio
  • The Visual Basic and Visual C++ Stored Procedure Builder Add-In for building and deploying stored procedures written in Java or the new SQL Procedure language.
  • The Visual C++ Tools Add-In to launch DB2 tools such as the Control Center, or the Client Configuration Assistant.
  • The Visual C++ Project Add-in to automate the various tasks of developing embedded SQL applications in C++ for DB2, such as managing the pre-compilation step, generating new stored procedures in C++, generating C++ code to execute SQL statements and call existing stored procedures.
• O-R language extensions to DB2 Universal Database.

Data Access Everywhere

DB2 empowers your mobile workers by putting enterprise information in the palms of their hands, and on multiple platforms.

This release of DB2 coincides with the beta program of DB2 Everyplace, a mobile database solution targeted at administration of DB2 Everyplace Clients on hand-held devices. DB2 Everyplace contains three components:

• A small footprint database of about 100 K for PalmOS, WinCE, EPOC, and Neutrino devices.
• A synchronization server to replicate data in both directions from devices directly to enterprise data sources such as DB2 on OS/390^®, AS/400^®, UNIX^®, and Windows platforms.
• An application development tool to build handheld applications with drag-and-drop ease.

Distributed Query: DB2 now provides distributed query capability across DB2 family databases, OLE DB data sources, and any data sources accessible via TABLE functions. This simplifies end-user access to distributed heterogeneous environments by making the backend data sources appear as a single database. This new distributed query capability incorporates the high-performance distributed query optimization techniques available with DB2 DataJoiner^®.

DB2 Relational Connect, a separately priced feature, provides native read access to Oracle databases. This can be used with built-in heterogeneous query capabilities to formulate queries across DB2, Oracle, and OLE DB databases or with the Data Warehouse Center to accelerate access performance from Oracle sources for loading a DB2 data warehouse. DB2 Relational Connect makes Oracle access completely transparent to the calling application and supports the full SELECT API features of DB2. Differences between the DB2 capabilities and the Oracle function are masked from the application without any loss of function due to automatic compensation built into DB2.

DB2 Data Links Manager is a feature, ordered separately for DB2, which facilitates the access of distributed data with the security and ease-of-use of the DB2 user interface. The following enhancements are introduced:

• Support for DCE Distributed File System (DFS)
• Support for the Solaris Operating Environment
• Support for archiving of linked files to Independent Solution Vendors' backup solutions
• Support for replication using the DB2 Data Propagator product, allowing multi-site development for customers with multiple shops

Enterprise Integration is aided through the following enhancements:

• Windows 2000 exploitation
  • Use Active Directory to locate databases and servers.
  • Support single sign-on using Kerberos.
  • Support Kerberos and Server/Encrypt security for mixed environments.
  • Support for NTLM userid length up to the maximum 20 characters.
  • Launch DB2 Control Center from the Computer Management Console.
  • Support for Windows 2000 Logical Raw partitions.

  Also, DB2 meets all the requirements for Windows 2000 Server Certification.

Performance and Capacity Enhancements made in this release are as follows:

• Active log size limit raised to 32 GB, allowing longer-running transactions.
• Support for multiple TCP/IP listeners gives you the ability to handle more concurrent TCP/IP connections.
• Microsoft's SNA Server support for Two-Phase Commit. DB2 users with MS Back Office can involve Windows, OS/400^®, and host database servers in multisite update transactions.
• DB2 Connect^® provides tightly coupled XA support by the concentrator. This gives you the ability to use a single worker agent to serve all applications working on a single, tightly coupled XA transaction.
• Support for Java Transaction API (JTA) and JDBC 2.0 distributed transaction support, used by IBM Enterprise Java Server, which provides distributed programming environment based on the Enterprise Java Beans model.
• Client-side Unicode support allowing an application interface that accepts Unicode characters.
• Filtered log recovery giving the ability to skip recovery of specified tables, indexes, and table space during roll-forward processing and allows the database to be brought back online without waiting to fix problems with broken database objects.
• Flushing logs during online backup is an option to close active log when online backup completes "db2 backup db testdb online flush log". This significantly reduces log management during online backups.
• Enhancements to Automated Summary Tables (ASTs) allow "refresh immediate" replicated table, conversion between regular table and summary table, and provide the ability to refresh multiple tables concurrently.
• Ability to rename a table space, which gives ease of movement of data from one table space to another.

Load Utility

• Import and Load utility support new format extensions:
  • User-defined date and time formats
  • Zoned decimal format
  • Preservation of blanks in DEL format for char and varchar columns
• New LOAD authority
  • Allows users to load tables without requiring them to have SYSADM or DBADM authorities
• Remote load capability
  • File to be loaded can reside on the remote client instead of on the local database server

Year 2000

The service end date for these Year-2000-ready products is December 31, 2002.

Object Relational Features

Abstract or structured data types are type mechanisms for modeling and storing complex objects in a relational database. Structured types may have multiple fields embedded within them, for example, a geometric shape (a list of Cartesian coordinates), or an employee (name, address, gender, birth date, and employee number) can be modeled and stored in DB2 Universal Database^®.

Structured Types: Structured type support has been extended to give you the ability to create tables with structured type columns. Additionally, structured types can be nested within a structured type. This means that the attributes of a structured type are no longer restricted to the base SQL types, they can now be of another structured type.

In Version 7, you can define functions with input parameters or parameters on the RETURNS clause that are structured types. You can also define methods for each structured data type, which permit the encapsulation of behavior with data. A method is defined very much like a function, but its use is strictly associated with structured types. It is essentially a routine with a structured type instance as its implicit first argument.

The Reorganize Table (REORG) and the db2look utilities can be used on tables with structured type columns.

Transform Functions: Transform functions enable the use of structured type columns with user written programs. Transform functions convert the complex structure within a structured data type into an ordered set of its base SQL types. They also convert the base attributes back to their structured types. These transforms are required to move structured types in and out of a database.

SQL-bodied Functions: An SQL-bodied function contains expressions or SELECT statements within its body, which is embedded into the calling SQL (similar to a macro). This allows the query compiler to optimize the whole SQL statement including the SQL-bodied function. Structured data types make use of SQL-bodied function for their transform functions and methods.

Typed Tables: You can now use referential integrity constraints and triggers with typed tables.

Visual Warehouse^®: Versions 3 and 5 cannot be used with the Data Warehouse Center or the Warehouse Manager. On Microsoft and OS/2 systems, Visual Warehouse products will be uninstalled when DB2 Version 7 products are installed.

Limitations

License Limitations: The following license limitations exist with the DB2 Version 7.1 products:

• DB2 Workgroup Edition Version 7.1 is restricted to installation on a server with a maximum of four processors on Intel and Linux and a maximum of two processors on UNIX. However, for customers who purchase Workgroup Unlimited Edition, the maximum processors allowed will be up to eight processors for Intel and Linux and up to four processors for UNIX.
• DB2 Universal Developer's Edition Version 7.1 is restricted to one developer only. No additional use authorizations are available to allow multiple developers on one installation. It is also restricted to the evaluation, demonstration, testing, and development of application programs.
• DB2 Personal Developer's Edition Version 7.1, now provided at no charge, is not restricted for installations or users, but is restricted to the evaluation, demonstration, testing, and development of application programs.
• DB2 Data Links Manager Version 7.1 must be used with a licensed copy of DB2 Enterprise Edition Version 7.1.
• DB2 Warehouse Manager Version 7.1 and its components must be used with a licensed copy of DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition Version 7.1 or DB2 Enterprise Edition Version 7.1.
• DB2 Personal Edition Version 7.1 allows inbound connections only for administrative purposes. This means you can not utilize DB2 Personal Edition for interactive host database access.
• A copy of DB2 Universal Database Enterprise Edition is provided within several other products, such as WebSphere™, under restricted use terms. This database is supplied for internal product (that is, WebSphere) administrative functions. There is the implicit storage requirements of the Enterprise Java™ Server container for Enterprise JavaBeans.

  The intent is not to provide a general use database for customer storage of enterprise data, nor building of applications to store/retrieve/query data.

  Customers who require a general use database for the storage and access of their enterprise data, are required to upgrade to a full licensed DB2 product.

• When the Warehouse Server component of the DB2 Universal Database Server is installed, a DB2 Universal Database for NT server of the same edition as the purchased license is also installed with a restricted use license. You are entitled to use this DB2 server on NT to manage one or more of the following types of data:
  • Warehouse Control database
  • Information Catalog database
  • Sample databases created by DB2 Version 7 products or components

  Any other use requires a full unrestricted license.

• The ObjectREXX Interpreter Edition for Windows is distributed with DB2 for use with the DataJoiner^® Replication Administration (DJRA) tool. You may use this component only in association with DJRA. For all other uses of ObjectREXX, you must purchase an ObjectREXX license.

Technical Limitations

• Net.Data^® does not support Windows 95/98, nor Version 7 SGI Client.
• SQLJ will not be supported in any environment that enforces the 8.3 filename restriction such as OS/2 FAT systems.
• Audio, Video, and Image (AVI) Extenders do not support the DB2 SGI client, Linux, nor NUMA-Q.
• Text Extender does not support the DB2 SGI client, the Windows 95 and Windows 98 servers, Linux, nor NUMA-Q.
• Stored procedure debugging is supported for DB2 servers on the Windows NT, Solaris, and AIX platforms only.
• Change Password is not supported with NUMA-Q, Solaris, HP-UX, nor Linux.

Planning Information

Licensing Information: Customers are responsible for determining their license requirements with the DB2 product family. The DB2 license entitlements are by users, processors, and installations.

User Entitlement: There are two counting methods of counting users of the DB2 product and of determining the required user entitlements. Customers should plan on which of the two counting methods should be applied to the DB2 server products based on usage requirements, and then obtain additional user entitlements to the extent required. The two counting methods are counting concurrent users and counting registered users.

The definition of concurrent and registered users is as follows:

1. Concurrent Users: A concurrent user is a person, application, or device that has established a connection to one or more databases on one server. A user with multiple connections to a single server counts as only one concurrent user. The one exception is where multiple connections are made by a multiplexing program, application server, or other program that connects to DB2 providing access on behalf of other users. When these configurations are in use, customers need to consider each concurrent user of that program as a concurrent DB2 user. In the concurrent user model, the customer must ensure each server is licensed for the maximum number of users that will use that server product at any one time.

   The concurrent user licensing model is the only choice in situations where the identity of users is unknown. The concurrent user model is also appropriate where users require only occasional access to a particular server.

2. Registered Users: A registered user is a person, application, or device entitled to establish one or more connections to any authorized server install of a DB2 Universal Database or DB2 Connect product in the customer's enterprise, either directly or through a multiplexing program or application server. Registered Users of DB2 Workgroup Edition are counted separately, and DB2 User entitlements are not transferable between products. Customers should compare the total number of users requiring access to the DB2 server product with the sum of user entitlements provided with each install license, and obtain additional user entitlements if required.

   Registered users may be the appropriate choice where there are many users, for example, at client workstations, who need to access databases on multiple database servers, or who connect to databases for long periods of time. Determining required licensing and monitoring the licensing requirements is the responsibility of the customer.

DB2 Workgroup Edition licenses include entitlement for one concurrent or registered user. Connections from DB2 Satellite Edition and DB2 Personal Edition may not be counted as DB2 Users for the purposes of determining the licensing requirements for the server machine. DB2 Workgroup Unlimited Edition licenses include entitlement for unlimited users for one processor.

DB2 Enterprise Edition and DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition do not restrict access to local DB2 server data through user counting, although customers are required to obtain user entitlements for host connectivity with these two products.

DB2 Satellite Edition and DB2 Personal Edition are licensed for installation and use by an individual user at one workstation. Remote connections to DB2 Satellite Edition and DB2 Personal Edition are allowed for Administration purposes only.

The DB2 Personal Developer's Edition and DB2 Universal Developer's Edition products are licensed for installation and use by an individual user only for the purpose of evaluating, demonstrating, testing, and developing application programs. Multiple user entitlements are not available for either of these programs, although DB2 Personal Developer's Edition is available at no charge.

Processor Entitlements: The following DB2 program packages include entitlements to install the program on a machine having one processor:

• DB2 Enterprise Edition
• DB2 Spatial Extender
• DB2 Warehouse Manager
• DB2 Net Search Extender
• DB2 Data Links Manager
• DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition

Where the customer requires the DB2 server to be installed on a machine with a greater number of processors, the customer must obtain additional processor entitlements.

The DB2 Workgroup Edition product is entitled for installation of not more than four processors on Intel, Linux machines or not more than two processors on UNIX machines. However, for customers who purchase Workgroup Unlimited Edition, the maximum processors allowed will be up to eight processors for Intel and Linux and up to four processors for UNIX. Where the customer requires installation on a machine that has more than the maximum allowed processors, the customer must obtain a DB2 Enterprise Edition or DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition product along with the needed number of additional processor entitlements.

Installation Entitlements: For DB2 Personal Edition, DB2 Satellite Edition, DB2 Workgroup Edition, and DB2 Workgroup Unlimited Edition, customers must purchase an installation entitlement for each server the products are installed on.

For DB2 Enterprise Edition, DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition, DB2 Net Search Extender, DB2 Data Links Manager, DB2 Spatial Extender, and DB2 Warehouse Manager, customers must purchase processor entitlements for each processor available to the DB2 system or cluster. Separate installation entitlements are not required.

For each server DB2 Relational Connect is installed on, customers must purchase one license for each data source server connection.

Special Licensing Considerations

Licensing of Standby Servers: A DB2 Workgroup Edition or a DB2 Workgroup Unlimited Edition server, when configured with high-availability software solely for use as an idle standby for one or more active DB2 Workgroup Edition or DB2 Workgroup Unlimited Edition licenses, customers need only obtain a base processor entitlement for the DB2 Workgroup Edition or DB2 Workgroup Unlimited Edition standby machine. A DB2 Workgroup Edition or DB2 Workgroup Unlimited Edition license installed and used as an active server and configured as a backup for one or more other DB2 Workgroup Edition or DB2 Workgroup Unlimited Edition servers must be licensed for users for its primary applications. Should failover occur, processor, Internet, and user entitlements options from a failed DB2 Workgroup Edition or DB2 Workgroup Unlimited Edition machine are considered transferred to the backup machine. Customers must ensure with this transfer of entitlement, the backup machine is fully licensed.

When the failed machine recovers and resumes DB2 processing, these entitlements are returned to the recovered machine, and the backup machine entitlement returns to its original state.

Processor Entitlements are not transferred from the failed server to the backup machine as they are with DB2 Enterprise Edition. Host User Connection entitlements are transferred. Should failover occur, user entitlements from a failed DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition machine are considered transferred to the backup machine, and customers must ensure with this transfer of entitlement, the backup machine is fully licensed for host user connections. When the failed machine recovers and resumes DB2 processing, these host user connection entitlements are returned to the recovered machine, and the backup machine entitlement returns to its original state. DB2 Query Patroller, an option of DB2 Warehouse Manager, must be treated similarly.

Web Connections: Customers using DB2 Enterprise Edition and DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition have unlimited Web access to local DB2 data. Host User Connection entitlements must be obtained if accessing non-local DB2 data.

For customers using DB2 Workgroup Edition, Web access is available by obtaining a separate entitlement for each processor available to the program installation. (For example, if installed on a two-processor server, you must obtain two External Web Access Entitlements.) Web access to DB2 Workgroup Edition servers from internal connections must be counted as DB2 Users of the product. You should note this licensing makes a distinction between Web connections made from within your enterprise (intranet connections, "inside the fire-wall") and those made from outside your enterprise (Internet connections, "outside the fire-wall"). Customers can purchase the Workgroup Unlimited Edition, and with it, access is available by obtaining all users connections to the database (inside and outside the fire-wall).

  • Each server that houses a portion of the accessed other data source must have a separate 'other data source' server entitlement.
• Host Servers
  • A host server must be obtained for each independent server being connected to with DB2 Connect Unlimited Edition. If the server is part of a sysplex (connected OS/390^® servers), only one host server entitlement is required. If multiple host servers, or multiple sysplexes are used, then each host server must be obtained for each host server (or sysplex).
• MSUs
  • A MSU entitlement must be obtained for each MSU on the DB2 host system. When this option is used, the customer need not count users of the DB2 Connect product. Only one server install is required for each customer utilizing the MSU licensing.

Upgrades: Customers can acquire upgrades up to the currently authorized level of use of the qualifying programs.

Usage Restriction: For DB2 Satellite Edition, you must acquire one license for each installation. If the total number of users or workstation installations exceeds the number of licenses, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.

For DB2 Personal Edition, you must acquire one license for each installation. If the total number of users or workstation installations exceeds the number of licenses, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.

For DB2 Universal Developer's Edition, you must acquire one license for each developer. If the total number of developers exceeds the number of licenses, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA. The Developer's Editions are licensed for installation and use by an individual developer only for the purpose of evaluating, demonstrating, testing, and developing application programs.

Charges for DB2 Workgroup Edition Version are based on the number of users, and on the number of processors providing Internet access. For any Web access on a particular installation, a separate Internet Processor Entitlement must be obtained for each processor available to DB2 Workgroup Edition Version. As with users described in the Planning Information section, the total number of users and the total number of processors providing Internet access cannot exceed the number authorized by the applicable PoE. If the total number exceeds the quantity in the PoE, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.

DB2 Workgroup Edition Version is entitled for installation on machines that have up to four processors on Intel and Linux and up to two processors on UNIX. Customers can purchase Workgroup Unlimited Edition. They are entitled to install on machines that have up to eight processors for Intel and Linux and up to four processors for UNIX.

Charges for installations of DB2 Enterprise Edition, DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition, DB2 Enterprise Edition Version 7.1 for NUMA-Q, and DB2 Enterprise — Extended Edition Version 7.1 for NUMA-Q are based on the number of processors available, and on the host user connections required. The total number of processors used, and the total host user connections, cannot exceed the quantity in the applicable PoE. If the total number exceeds the quantity in the PoE, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA. An entitlement is available to allow unlimited users and Web access.

Charges for the DB2 Data Links Manager Version 7.1, DB2 Net Search Extender Version 7.1, and DB2 Spatial Extender Version 7.1 optional feature are based on the number of processors on which it is used. The total number of processors used cannot exceed the quantity in the applicable PoE. If the total number exceeds the quantity in the applicable PoE, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.

Charges for the DB2 Warehouse Manager Version 7.1 are based on the number of processors on which it is used in the target database. The total number of processors used cannot exceed the quantity in the applicable PoE. If the total number exceeds the quantity in the applicable PoE, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.

Charges for installations of DB2 Relational Connect are based on the number of data source server connections required. The total number of data source server connections cannot exceed the quantity in the applicable PoE. If the total number exceeds the quantity in the PoE, you must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.
