SnapVault features
SnapVault provides a centralized disk-based backup solution for heterogeneous storage environments. Storing backup data in multiple snapshot copies on the SnapVault secondary storage system from multiple SnapVault primary systems helps let enterprises keep weeks of backups online for fast restoration. Backing up multiple SnapVault primary storage systems to a single SnapShot copy on a large SnapVault secondary storage system can help allow enterprises to centralize their backup and restore operations in a single location. SnapVault primary storage systems can be local or remote N3300 storage controllers, Windows servers, or UNIX servers connected via a LAN or a WAN. The SnapVault secondary storage system can also be located at a remote disaster recovery site to help protect against production site failures.
SnapVault Primary and SnapVault Secondary may be concurrently installed on an N3300 Model A20. This allows data to be backed up from one node of the Model A20 to the other node. Each must be installed on its own node, that is, SnapVault Primary must be installed on one of the two nodes and SnapVault Secondary on the other. They may never both be installed on the same node. Data ONTAP 7.2.1, or later, is required.

This feature is also used for maintenance billing purposes.
Adv. Single Instance Storage (A-SIS) (#6347 and #6397): This feature is designed to provide block-level deduplication within the entire flexible volume on an IBM N series storage controller that has the NearStore feature enabled. A-SIS only stores unique data blocks in the flexible volume and creates a small amount of additional metadata in the process. Each block of data has a digital "signature" that is compared to all other signatures in the flexible volume. If an exact byte-for-byte block match exists on the flexible volume, the duplicate block is discarded and its disk space is reclaimed.

Operations Manager Core (OMC)
The OMC features are designed to provide a central point of control and to provide alerts, reports, and configuration tools. These tools are designed to help manage storage and content delivery infrastructure, consistent with business requirements, and help maximize availability and reduce total cost of ownership.
OMC provides a license that allows the use of the OMC features on the N series machine for which they are ordered. This machine is the "managing" machine; those to be managed are the "managed" machines. All OMC features must be ordered for only the managing machine. One tier license feature must be ordered for each node to be managed, including the nodes of the managing machine.
A Model A10 and G10 consists of one node; a Model A20 and G20 consists of two nodes. On the initial order, the number (quantity) of the tier features ordered defines the number of managed nodes, and the N series machine types and models, for which the feature is authorized. That number may be increased via a subsequent (MES) order by ordering the incremental number of OMC tier x license features (#826x). The MES order must be for the managing machine. For example, if the number of nodes to be managed is to be increased by ten, the number of #826x features, which must be ordered in the MES order, is ten. Any combination of #826x features may be included in the same MES order.
It is necessary to select the appropriate tier for each N series machine you will be managing with the OMC license. Multiple N series machines are managed with one OMC license, but the support for multiple machines must be reflected in the tiers that are ordered. The relationship of N series machines to tiers, and associated feature numbers, is as follows.

For example, to use OMC to manage one N3700 Model A20, five N5200 Model A10s, and two N7800 Model G20s, you would order two of #8262, five of #8263, and four of #8267.
The initial order of these features provides a key that allows OMC support of the number of nodes specified. When the number of nodes is increased by a subsequent order, a new key is assigned allowing use of OMC for the new total number of nodes. The old key is rendered obsolete.
Note: The OMC requires only one of feature #8258, regardless of the number of nodes to be managed.
Op Mgr Store Resource Mgmt (#8257): This feature provides advanced function of Operations Manager. It is designed to provide detailed storage utilization reports to aid capacity planning, consumption management, data migration, and chargeback.
This feature requires one of the OMC tier license features.

Ops Mgr Core tier 7 license (#8267): This feature provides a license allowing use of the Operations Manager on one node of an N series tier 7 machine. One of this feature must be ordered for each node requiring a tier 7 Operations Manager license.
Protection Manager
This feature provides backup and replication management software for an N series disk-based data protection environment. It is designed to help protect data and support high productivity by providing policy-based management, including when used in automated data protection configurations.
At least one of the OMC tier license features is a prerequisite of the Protection Manager feature.
Protection Manager provides a license that allows the use of the Protection Manager features on the N series machine for which they are ordered. This machine is the "managing" machine; those to be managed are the "managed" machines. All Protection Manager features must be ordered for only the managing machine. One tier license feature must be ordered for each node to be managed, including the nodes of the managing machine.
A Model A10 consists of one node; a Model A20 consists of two nodes. On the initial order, the number (quantity) of the tier features ordered defines the number of managed nodes, and the N series machine types and models, for which the feature is authorized. That number may be increased via a subsequent (MES) order by ordering the incremental number of Protection Manager tier x license features (#82xx). The MES order must be for the managing machine. For example, if the number of nodes to be managed is to be increased by ten, the number of #82xx features, which must be ordered in the MES order, is ten. Any combination of #82xx features may be included in the same MES order.
It is necessary to select the appropriate tier for each N series machine you will be managing with the Protection Manager license. Multiple N series machines are managed with one Protection Manager license, but the support for multiple machines must be reflected in the tiers that are ordered. The relationship of N series machines to tiers, and associated feature numbers, is as follows.
You should purchase Protection Manager license for all nodes running SnapMirror (Source or Destination) and SnapVault (Primary or Secondary) that you want to manage with Protection Manager. Operation Manager is a prerequisite for each system to be managed using Protection Manager. The Protection Manager serial number should be tied to the same managing machine serial number against which the Operation Manager is ordered. The Operation Manager and Protection Manager license keys must be activated on the same managing machine.
