Adapters
These adapter features add Ethernet and disk storage connectivity to the N series N5200 and N5500 storage controllers and gateways.
1-Port 10GbE TOE NIC (#1008): This 10 Gb Ethernet PCI-X TCP/IP Offload Engine (TOE) adapter feature provides a single LC duplex connector. It supports a maximum distance of 300 meters using 850-nanometer (nm) multimode fiber (MMF) media. The Model A10 and Model G10 allow a maximum of two of this feature; Model A20 and Model G20 allow a maximum of four.
Cable features 5m 50-micron MMF Cable (#1045) or 30m 50-micron MMF Cable (#1046) may (optionally) be ordered with this feature.
4-Port 4-Gbps FC HBA Disk (#1027): This feature provides one PCI-x quad-port 4-Gbps HBA for attaching disk expansion units (EXN1000, EXN2000, and EXN4000). This adapter auto-negotiates connections of 1-Gbps, 2-Gbps, or 4-Gbps. Two small form factor (SFF) multimode optical ports, with LC connectors, support the following cable lengths:
Link 50 micron 62.5 micron operating multimode multimode speed fiber fiber 1 Gbps 500 m 300 m 2 Gbps 300 m 150 m 4 Gbps 150 m 70 m
The ports of this adapter may not be used as FCP target ports.
The Model A10 allows a maximum of three of this feature; Model A20 allows a maximum of six.
Ethernet cables
5m 50-micron MMF Cable (#1045): This feature provides one 5-meter 50-micron multimode optical fiber cable for use with the 1-Port 10GbE NIC (feature #1008).
30m 50-micron MMF Cable (#1046): This feature provides one 30-meter 50-micron multimode optical fiber cable for use with the 1-Port 10GbE NIC (feature #1008).
Licensed function indicators
iSCSI Protocol (#7x25/#7x75/#6x75): This feature enables the iSCSI Protocol licensed function which is designed to provide connectivity to clients that transfer data via the iSCSI protocol. You must apply a feature activation code made available by IBM. This feature is also used for maintenance billing purposes.
Note: All N series machines shipped prior to June 8, 2007. included iSCSI support as part of Data ONTAP. There is no advantage in ordering the iSCSI Protocol feature for those machines.
Adv. Single Instance Storage (#7x32/#7x82/#6082): This feature is designed to provide block-level deduplication within the entire flexible volume on an IBM N series storage controller that has the near-line Function feature enabled. Advanced Single Instance Storage only stores unique data blocks in the flexible volume and creates a small amount of additional metadata in the process. Each block of data has a digital "signature," that is compared to all other signatures in the flexible volume. If an exact byte-for-byte block match exists on the flexible volume, the duplicate block is discarded and its disk space is reclaimed.
Host software
FCP Host Utilities VMWare (#8123): This feature provides a host attach kit for VMWare that includes various drivers, support scripts, installation scripts, and documentation.
