The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 solution is designed to offer tape virtualization for open systems servers connecting over Fibre Channel connections. The TS7520 solution consists of:

  • TS7500 V2R1 Software (5697-N65 or 5697-N66)
  • One or two Base 3952 Tape Frames and up to 10 Expansion 3952 Tape Frames to contain the other components
  • One, two, or four Model CV6 Virtualization Engines
  • Up to 24 Model SV6 Cache Controllers
  • Up to 112 Model SX6 Cache Modules in twelve 3952 Tape Frames

The TS7520 solution can include up to 1,088 TB of native cache capacity (884 TB useable capacity) to help address large data backup and recovery requirements, a significant enhancement.

Overview

The IBM Virtualization Engine™ TS7520 solution is a virtual-tape solution designed to help optimize tape processing. Through the implementation of an integrated, tiered storage hierarchy of disk and tape, the benefits of both technologies can be leveraged to help enhance performance and provide the capacity needed for today's tape processing requirements. Deploying this innovative subsystem can help reduce batch processing time and management overhead.

IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 Models SV6 Cache Controller and SX6 Cache Module provide the disk storage for the IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 solution. The TS7520 solution helps enable Information Lifecycle Management by improving the utilization of tape resources. The TS7520 Model CV6 Virtualization Engine enables tape virtualization for open systems servers connecting over Fibre Channel or iSCSI physical connections. The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 Models SV6 Cache Controller and SX6 Cache Module provide the disk storage for the TS7520.

The TS7520 solution utilizes IBM technology and software that emulates IBM tape libraries, drives, and media. This emulation is designed to help customers achieve the following operational and throughput efficiencies:

  • Backup window reduction
  • Restore time reduction
  • Data sharing and resource virtualization facilitation
  • Operational efficiencies
  • Improved sharing of tape libraries across applications and servers

The TS7520 solution consists of three hardware machine types and an IBM Virtualization Engine TS7500 Software V2.1 program (5697-N65 or 5697-N66).

These Machine Type Models are referred to as:

  • The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 Model CV6 or
  • TS7520 Virtualization Engine

The TS7520 Virtualization Engine is the processing engine for a TS7520 solution.

  • One Model SV6
  • Up to two Model SX6s

The 3952 Tape Frame can contain (configured as a base frame or secondary base frame):

  • One or two CV6s
  • Two Model SV6s
  • Up to six Model SX6s

The 3952 Tape Frame can contain (configured as an expansion frame):

  • One or two Model SV6s
  • Up to ten Model SX6s

The TS7520 solution supports a primary and secondary base frame, allowing four total TS7520 Model CV6 Virtualization Engines.

Key prerequisites

The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 solution requires a 3952 Tape Frame containing one or two TS7520 Model CV6 Virtualization Engines. An optional second frame containing an additional two Model CV6 Virtualization Engines, up to two Model SV6 Cache Controllers, and optional Model SX6 Cache Modules is also available. A maximum number of twelve tape frames are allowed: two as base frames, ten as expansion frames.

A customer-supplied management console and the IBM Virtualization Engine TS7500 V2R1 Software program (5697-N65 or 5697-N66) are also required. The TS7520 solution attaches to selected IBM System p™, IBM System i*, RS/6000®, RS/6000 SP™, IBM System x™, Netfinity®, IBM System z™ (Linux™ only), Sun, HP-UX, Windows™ 2003, Linux, and other UNIX® and PC servers. Appropriate levels of host software are required. Refer to the Technical information section for details.

Description

The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 solution consists of three hardware machine types and the IBM Virtualization Engine TS7500 Software V2.1 program 5697-N65 or 5697-N66.

These Machine Type Models are referred to as:

  • The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 Model CV6 or
  • TS7520 Virtualization Engine

The TS7520 Virtualization Engine is the processing engine for a TS7520 solution.

  • The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 Model SV6 or
  • TS7520 Cache Controller

The TS7520 Cache Controller manages the disk cache for a TS7520 solution.

  • The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 Model SX6 or
  • TS7520 Cache Module

The TS7520 Cache Model expands the disk cache for a TS7520 solution.

  • IBM 3952 Tape Frame Model F05

The 3952 Tape Frame can be used to contain the components of a TS7520 solution.

The TS7520 solution is available in multiple configurations. One TS7520 Virtualization Engine is a single node. The TS7520 solution is available in a single-node configuration, in a dual-node high-availability (HA) configuration, or a four-node high-availability configuration and double the capacity. A single-node configuration supports:

  • Up to 128 virtual libraries (3584 Emulation)
  • Up to 1,024 virtual tape drives (LTO2/LTO3/3592 Model J1A/E05)
  • Up to 64,000 virtual cartridges

In a dual-node configuration, a TS7520 solution can support up to:

  • 256 virtual tape libraries
  • 2,048 virtual tape drives (LTO2/LTO3/3592 Model J1A/E05)
  • 128,000 virtual cartridges

In a four-node configuration, a TS7520 solution can support up to:

  • 512 virtual tape libraries
  • 4,096 virtual tape drives (LTO2/LTO3/3592 Model J1A/E05)
  • 256,000 virtual cartridges

The TS7520 solution provides virtual tape emulation and physical tape attachment for many IBM Tape Libraries. Refer to the Devices supported section of this RFA to view the list of virtually emulated and physically supported tape libraries.

The TS7520 solution provides connectivity through the following:

  • Up to eight Fibre Channel ports per node for tape or host server attachment or up to 18 Ethernet ports per node for iSCSI server attachment, network replication, or NDMP
  • Up to four Fibre Channel ports can be dedicated to physical tape connection, or up to eight Ethernet ports
  • Any number of available Ethernet ports may be used for network replication

An HA TS7520 configuration, with two or four TS7520 servers and dual ac power on the 3952 Tape Frame, is designed to provide redundancy for nodes, disks, power, and tape/host connectivity. Increasing the number of nodes also increases the maximum supported cache for a TS7520 solution.

The 3952 Tape Frame Model F05 is a frame that can be used to house the components of the TS7520 solution. Up to twelve 3952 Tape Frames Model F05 can be attached in a TS7520 configuration. The base unit 3952 Tape Frame Model F05 can accommodate:

  • One or two TS7520 Virtualization Engine (3954 Model CV6) servers:
    • A single Model CV6 supports up to ten expansion frames (992 TB raw capacity, 806 TB usable) and an effective data throughput rate of 1,200 MB/second.
    • Two Model CV6s may be configured in a dual-node configuration for twice the virtual drives and virtual volumes. This configuration supports up to ten expansion frames (1,024 TB raw capacity, 832 TB usable) and an effective data throughput rate of up to 2,400 MB/second.
    • Four Model CV6s may be configured in a four-node configuration for four times the virtual drives and virtual volumes of a single-node configuration. This configuration supports up to 1,088 TB of raw capacity (884 TB of useable capacity with ten expansion frames) and an effective data throughput race of up to 4,800 MB/second.
  • Two TS7520 Cache Controllers (3955 Model SV6), that each provide 8 TB of raw capacity (6.5 TB usable).
  • Up to six TS7520 Cache Modules (3955 Model SX6), that each provide 8 TB of raw capacity (6.5 TB usable).

An optional 3952 Tape Frame Model F05, called the expansion unit, can accommodate another ten TS7520 Cache Modules and two TS7520 Cache Controllers, for a maximum of 96 TB of native cache capacity (78 TB useable) in a TS7520 solution.

The IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 solution is designed to provide redundancy for critical hardware components and connections between components. Key functional features of the TS7520 solution are:

  • Support for many key IBM Tape Libraries both virtual and physical (Refer to the Devices supported section of this RFA to view the complete list of virtually emulated and physically supported tape libraries)
  • Physical tape export offered in two modes:
    1. Backup software controlled
    2. Operator initiated
  • Configuration of two TS7520 Model CV6 Virtualization Engines as an active cluster
  • Configuration of four TS7520 Model CV6 Virtualization Engines as two cooperating active clusters
  • Support for real-time compression of data, reducing disk storage requirements
  • On demand allocation of disk storage to help maximize storage utilization using virtual cartridges (Static allocation is also supported for customized environments)
  • Support of import/export to an IBM TotalStorage® 3494 Tape Library using an Ethernet interface to manage the library
  • Interaction with the TS7520 Cache Controllers to perform transparent fail-over/fail-back from path (HBA, port, switch, channel) or storage controller failure to minimize disruption to backup or restore activities
  • Integration of Ethernet and Fibre Channel switches for connectivity between base frames and expansion frames
  • Ability to scale processing and memory capacity for improved performance

Completing the TS7520 configuration is the IBM Virtualization Engine TS7500 V2R1 Software program (5697-N65 or 5697-N66) that executes on a TS7520 Virtualization Engine (3954 Model CV6).

3955 Cache Controller Model SV6

Two 3955 Model SV6 Cache Controllers are required in each TS7500 system, except in limited edition configurations. Controllers reside in the 3952 Frame Model F05.

Each 3955 Model SV6 Cache Controller has two Fibre Channel ports to each 3954 Model CV6 Virtualization Engine. With two 3954 Model CV6s installed, operating in a dual-node or high-availability (HA) configuration, both of the Model CV6s have access to each 3955 Model SV6 Cache Controller. Each 3955 Model SV6 contains sixteen SATA disks of 500 GB, for a total raw capacity of 8 TB. There is one hot spare disk to help provide RAID5 reliability and rebuild in each 3955 Model SV6, and two disks in each drawer are used for RAID5 parity.

In a TS7520 HA configuration, with two 3954 Model CV6s, the storage on the 3955 Model SV6 Cache Controllers and 3955 Model SX6 Cache Modules is shared between the two 3954 Model CV6 nodes. The architecture of TS7520 solution has the storage physically shared between 3954 Model CV6 nodes to help provide redundancy and failover. However, the capacity is not logically shared and is assigned to each 3594 Model CV6 equally, or balanced in a dual-node system. In a four-node, dual TS7520 HA configuration, storage is also physically shared between the 3954 Model CV6 nodes to help provide redundancy. As in the dual-node configuration, the capacity is not logically shared and is assigned to each 3594 Model CV6 equally, or balanced between each HA pair.

Useable capacity is defined separately from raw capacity and accounts for RAID5 overhead, and hot spares. The useable capacity of each Model SV6 is 6.5 TB, or a total of 13 TB in a TS7520 configuration without any 3955 Model SX6s installed. In a limited edition configuration, the minimum config is 6.5 TB.

3955 Model SX6 Cache Module

Each 3955 Model SX6 Cache Module is an expansion drawer of additional disk cache storage for extra capacity in a TS7520 solution. The base unit, or secondary base unit 3952 Frame Model F05, can contain up to six 3955 Model SX6 Cache Modules. The expansion unit 3952 Frame Model F05 can contain an additional ten drawers of the 3955 Model SX6 Cache Module. A minimum configuration would contain no 3955 Model SX6 Cache Modules. Up to five 3955 Model SX6 Cache Modules can be attached to each 3955 Model SV6 Cache Controller. Each 3955 Model SX6 contains sixteen SATA disks of 500 GB, for a total raw capacity of 8 TB. Useable capacity is up to 6.5 TB for each 3955 Model SX6 installed in the base frame. The first two Model SX6s installed in the expansion frame contain one hot spare disk to help provide RAID reliability, and they provide up to 6.5 TB each of useable capacity. Additional 3955 Model SX6s installed in the expansion frame provide up to an additional 6.5 TB each of useable capacity.

With two 3954 Model CV6s installed, operating in a dual-node or high-availability (HA) TS7520 configuration, the 3955 Model SX6 Cache Module must be added in two drawer increments, and logically assigned in a balanced way to each 3955 Cache Controller Model SV6. With four TS7520 Model CV6 Virtualization Engines installed, each operating in two dual-node HA configurations, the 3955 Cache Model SX6 must be added in two drawer increments per HA pair, and logically assigned in a balanced way from the perspective of a single HA pair. Each HA pair can be configured and balanced independently.

The amount of disk cache for the TS7520 solution should be large enough to support the business need and environment that the system is being installed in. This could include the number of days of backup desired to keep on disk. An example sizing may be to keep three days of backup data in the disk cache and three weeks on real tape. If performance is the main consideration, then multiple TS7520 solutions may be needed to fulfill the requirements. Compression is assisted with additional processors orderable as separate features.

Product positioning

The TS7520 Virtualization Engine solution is a high-performance, high-capacity open systems virtual tape offering designed to augment the tape backup and restore process in large tape environments. The TS7520 solution is designed to aid in the tape backup and restore process by helping provide customers significant operational and throughput efficiencies via tape virtualization, namely:

  • Backup window reduction
  • Restore time reduction
  • Data sharing and resource virtualization facilitation
  • Capability to allow multiple disparate backup applications to share the same physical resources
  • High availability options
  • Integrated server, disk, and tape solution for IT optimization

The TS7520 solution is a tape virtualization solution for open systems attachment over Fibre Channel or iSCSI interfaces. It can achieve significant operational efficiencies by storing the recently used data in the TS7520 disk cache. As data ages, the older data may be migrated to real tape for longer term storage. Since data can now be written to virtual tape via the disk cache, heavy daily tape drive usage can be greatly reduced. Fewer personnel may be needed to administer the backup process when it includes virtual tape.

The TS7520 solution provides connectivity through the following:

  • Eight Fibre Channel ports per node for tape or host server attachment, or up to eighteen Ethernet ports per node for iSCSI server attachment, network replication, or NDMP
  • Up to four Fibre Channel ports can be dedicated to physical tape connection or eight Ethernet ports
  • Up to eight Ethernet ports may be used for network replication

The TS7520 solution differs from many other open systems virtual tape offerings, by enabling either direct tape attachment or parallel tape attachment. Direct tape attachment is where real tape drives or libraries are physically attached to the TS7520 solution. Parallel tape attachment is where real tape drives or libraries are attached to the host server and data is transferred from the TS7520 solution through the host server to real tape drives or libraries that are physically attached to the host server.

The TS7520 solution can help reduce the backup window in many installations. Since robotic movement, tape load/thread, and physical tape search and rewind is eliminated in virtual tape, the effective utilization of the Fibre Channel interfaces is high. That means more tape jobs can be run to virtual tape over a single interface than to real tape. If the backup window is reduced, the time allowed for migration to real tape is increased, thus potentially reducing the number of real tape drives needed for longer term data storage.

The TS7520 solution is designed to improve business continuity by providing better restore times. By having the data in the disk cache, the TS7520 solution can help reduce restore times. With up to 4,096 virtual tape drives and up to 512 virtual tape libraries, each backup server can be allocated their own virtual resources, allowing multiple and disparate backup applications to use the same physical resources. This offers the potential for infrastructure simplification. Multiple different tape libraries and tape drives can be aggregated to one or more TS7520 solutions, helping centralize the backup resources.

TS7520 Cache Controller

Two TS7520 Cache Controllers must be installed in the base unit 3952 Tape Frame with the following feature:

  • 9328 (Plant Install a 3955 Model SV6) — To have the factory install one TS7520 Model SV6 Cache Controller into a new 3952 Tape Frame shipping from the plant. Two TS7520 Model SV6 Cache Controllers must be installed in the 3952 Tape designated as a base unit (#7317, #7320). Two corresponding feature numbers 5738 (Plant Install a 3955 Model SV6) must be ordered on the 3952 Tape Frame, one for each TS7520 Model SV6 Cache Controller.
  • 9329 (Field Install a 3955 Model SV6) — To add an additional TS7520 Model SV6 Cache Controller into a 3952 Tape Frame installed in the field. Two TS7520 Model SV6 Cache Controllers must be installed in the 3952 Tape designated as the base unit (#7317, #7320). Two corresponding feature numbers 5739 (Field Install a 3955 Model SV6) must be ordered on the 3952 Tape Frame, one for each TS7520 Model SV6 Cache Controller.

The following feature provides disk cache storage for the TS7520 Cache Controller:

  • 7111 (8 TB SATA Storage) — Provides Serial ATA HDDs with 8 TB of unformatted storage capacity.

Up to six TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Modules can be installed in the base unit 3952 Tape Frame (three per 3954 Model CV6 installed). Additional (up to ten) TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Modules can be installed in an expansion unit 3952 Tape Frame to provide additional cache storage capacity. These additional TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Modules are enabled by ordering the following features:

  • 7401 (Enable first 3955 Model SX6) — Enables the attachment of additional TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Modules installed in a 3952 Tape Frame configured as an expansion frame. This feature is required for the first TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Module attached to a Model SV6 storage string. This feature is required for each Model SV6 in an 3952 Tape Frame.
  • 7402 (Enable fourth 3955 Model SX6) — Enables the attachment of the fourth additional TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Modules installed in a 3955 Tape Frame configured as an expansion frame. This feature is required for the fourth TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Module attached to a Model SV6 storage string. This feature is required for each Model SV6 in an 3952 Tape Frame.

TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Module

The TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Module provides additional disk cache capacity for the TS7520 solution. Installed TS7520 Cache Modules are alternately attached to each TS7520 Cache Controller. The first three TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Modules attached to each TS7520 Model SV6 Cache Controller (for a total of six) are contained in the base unit 3952 Tape Frame. Up to ten TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Modules can be installed in the expansion unit 3952 Tape Frame, with the following features:

  • 9330 (Plant Install a 3955 Model SX6) — To have the factory install the TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Module into a new 3952 Tape Frame (either base unit or expansion unit) shipping from the plant. One corresponding feature number 5748 (Plant Install a 3955 Model SX6) must be ordered on the 3952 Tape Frame for each TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Module being installed by the plant. Two Cache Controllers must be installed prior to Cache Modules being installed in an expansion unit.
  • 9331 (Field Merge a 3955 Model SX6) — To ship a TS7520 Model SX6 Cache Module for field installation into an installed 3952 Tape Frame (either base unit or expansion unit). A corresponding feature number 5749 (Field Install a 3955 Model SX6) must be ordered on the 3952 Tape Frame.

The following feature provides disk cache storage for the TS7520 Cache Module:

  • 7111 (8 TB SATA Storage) — Provides Serial ATA HDDs with 8 TB of unformatted storage capacity.

Cables

Two Fibre Channel cables are required to attach the TS7520 Cache Modules located in an expansion unit 3952 Tape Frame to components in the base unit 3952 Tape Frame. The cables can be customer supplied or ordered with the following feature numbers:

  • 6013 — 13 m LC-LC Fibre Channel Cable

Planning information

Customer responsibilities: Physical planning is a customer responsibility. Detailed planning information is in the IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520 Introduction and Planning Guide (GC26-7767).

Customers are responsible for obtaining a management console (refer to the Hardware requirements section for detailed information). Customers are responsible for obtaining the appropriate adapters and cables.

Cable orders: Two Fibre Channel cables are required to attach the 3955 Models SX6 located in an expansion unit 3952 Frame Model F05 to components in the base unit 3952 Frame Model F05. Refer to Cables in the Hardware requirements section for a list of cables.

Direct customer support: Eligible customers can obtain installation and usage assistance through ASK Support using the search words TS7520 or 3954.

Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.

The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems.

Warranty service:

If required, IBM provides repair or exchange service depending on the types of warranty service specified for the machine. IBM will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone, or electronically via an IBM Web site. You must follow the problem determination and resolution procedures that IBM specifies. Scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call and is subject to parts availability. If applicable to your product, parts considered Customer Replaceable Units (CRUs ) will be provided as part of the machine's standard warranty service.

Service levels are response-time objectives and are not guaranteed. The specified level of warranty service may not be available in all worldwide locations. Additional charges may apply outside IBM's normal service area. Contact your local IBM representative or your reseller for country and location specific information. This product is covered by the following types of service.

On-site service

IBM will repair the failing machine at your location and verify its operation. You must provide suitable working area to allow disassembly and reassembly of the IBM machine. The area must be clean, well lit, and suitable for the purpose.

  • 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, same-day response

If your problem can be resolved with a Customer Replaceable Unit (CRU) (for example, keyboard, mouse, speaker, memory, or hard disk drive), IBM may ship the CRU to you for you to install. CRU information and replacement instructions are shipped with your machine and are available from IBM at any time on your request.

Based upon availability, CRUs will be shipped for next business day (NBD) delivery. IBM specifies in the materials shipped with a replacement CRU whether a defective CRU must be returned to IBM. When return is required, return instructions and a container are shipped with the replacement CRU, and you may be charged for the replacement CRU if IBM does not receive the defective CRU within 30 days of your receipt of the replacement.

Warranty service upgrades and maintenance service options

Warranty service upgrades

During the warranty period, warranty service upgrades provide an enhanced level of on-site service for an additional charge. A warranty service upgrade must be purchased during the warranty period and is for a fixed term (duration). It is not refundable or transferable and may not be prorated. If required, IBM will provide the warranty service upgrade enhanced level of on-site service acquired by the customer. Service levels are response time objectives and are not guaranteed.

IBM will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone or electronically, via an IBM Web site. You must follow the problem determination and resolution procedures that IBM specifies. Scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call and is subject to parts availability.

The area must be clean, well lit, and suitable for the purpose. The following service selections are available as warranty upgrades for your machine type.

  • 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 2-hour average response

Customer Replaceable Units (CRUs) may be provided as part of the machine's standard warranty CRU service except that you may install a CRU yourself or request IBM installation, at no additional charge, under one of the on-site service levels specified above. For additional information on the CRU service, refer to warranty information.

Customer replaceable units

If your problem can be resolved with a CRU (for example, keyboard, mouse, speaker, memory, or hard disk drive), and depending upon the maintenance service offerings in your geography, IBM will ship the CRU to you for you to install. CRU information and replacement instructions are shipped with your machine and are available from IBM upon your request.

Based upon availability, CRUs will be shipped for NBD delivery. IBM specifies, in the materials shipped with a replacement CRU, whether a defective CRU must be returned to IBM. When return is required, return instructions and a container is shipped with the replacement CRU and you may be charged for the replacement CRU if IBM does not receive the defective CRU within 30 days of your receipt of the replacement.

CRUs may be provided as part of the machine's standard maintenance service except that you may install a CRU yourself or request IBM installation, at no additional charge, under any of the on-site service levels specified above.

Usage plan machine: No

IBM hourly service rate classification: Two

When a type of service involves the exchange of a machine part, the replacement may not be new, but will be in good working order.

Model conversions: No

Machine installation: Installation is performed by IBM. IBM will install the machine in accordance with the IBM installation procedures for the machine. In the United States, contact IBM at 800-IBM-SERV (426-7378), in other countries contact the local IBM office.

The Installation and Planning Guide specifies site preparation, physical requirements and installation (operating) environment and any cabling included in the installation along with the approximate installation time in hours. Customer requests for installation of items not covered in the installation guide may be performed at IBM's hourly service rate designated for the machine.

Graduated program license charges apply: No

Licensed Machine Code: IBM Machine Code is licensed for use by a customer on the IBM machine for which it was provided by IBM under the terms and conditions of the IBM License Agreement for Machine Code, to enable the machine to function in accordance with its specifications, and only for the capacity authorized by IBM and for which the customer has acquired. IBM may release machine code changes to the IBM Virtualization Engine TS7520. IBM plans to make machine code changes for most components of the TS7520 solution available for download from the IBM TotalStorage® technical support worldwide Web. Note that not all machine code changes may be available via the support Web site. If the machine does not function as warranted and your problem can be resolved through your application of downloadable machine code, you are responsible for downloading and installing these designated machine code changes as IBM specifies. IBM has responsibility for installing changes that IBM does not make available for you to download. If you would prefer, you may request IBM to install downloadable machine code changes; however, you may be charged for that service.
