Description
Bottom rule

QMF Analytics for Multiplatforms consists of the following capabilities:

  • QMF for Workstation
  • QMF for WebSphere®
  • QMF Vision

The QMF for Workstation and QMF for WebSphere capabilities include:

  • Ad hoc reports that give users the ability to drag and drop QMF queries onto an open canvas in runtime mode and select from a series of display options (charts or tabular presentations). Users can quickly and easily create their own sophisticated reporting objects for great productivity and ease-of-use, especially for those who are new to QMF.
  • Visual dashboard supports concurrent development and integrates ad hoc report functionality.
  • Users can schedule queries, quick reports, and visual reports. Scheduled objects can run based upon user criteria, providing an autonomic approach to running QMF objects. In addition, a wide variety of actions to take with these objects is now available. Quick reports enables users to create a new type of grid-based GUI report with grouping, aggregation, charts, titles, fonts, and standard text formatting. The new reporting facility wizard provides a simple, prompted approach to QMF report creation.
  • Dynamarts enable users to save result sets with the query object and allow QMF dashboards and reports to be partially or fully driven by offline or scheduled data sets. Users can send a snapshot of the result set and associated report to others to see it as it was or they can refresh it to see it as it is. Dynamarts give users greater flexibility to share and access QMF dashboards and reports.

QMF Vision provides a fast and easy way to connect, explore, and share data across your enterprise, fostering collaboration with business insights. Users can easily create blended dashboards with visualizations from multiple sources. For example, in a single dashboard, one chart might display IBM TM1® budget data, another might show IBM Cognos® PowerCube data, and another might display spreadsheet data stored on Box, IBM Connections™, or a local machine. This hands-on approach to data exploration and visualization provides deeper insights into enterprise data. With self-service discovery, users no longer require programming skills to create their reports. Dashboards come together quickly through a simple drag-and-drop interface that enables users to add fields or filter and manipulate data as needed. Built-in intelligence features combined with a simplified process flow help users perform guided analytics out of the box, so they can quickly address their ad hoc analytical needs. A responsive user interface designed for browsers and tablets makes it easy to obtain information from a variety of locations.

The most commonly requested guided analytics capabilities, such as outlier detection and cardinality, are now provided out of the box. These capabilities are integrated into the architecture for an intuitive analysis experience. For one-off decision-making, you can quickly create simple reports using the tabular chart, which gives you a line-by-line view of summary data. Reports can be formatted to produce multilevel grouping, hierarchical structures, and dynamic cross tabulations, all for greater readability. Flat files, such as csv and Excel, can be uploaded directly to QMF Vision, and users can leverage data from Cognos business intelligence content. This enhancement makes it simple to share insights and collaborate with other users.

Dashboards can be dropped into the chat window and other users can immediately start collaborating. They can discuss performance results, strategy, and opportunities and discover new insights about the data. Users can connect to new data sources as well as work with existing QMF queries and tables. QMF Vision now integrates with IBM Connections, enabling users to share and discuss dashboards created in QMF Vision across IBM Connections communities.

Program name PID number Charge metric
IBM QMF Analytics for Multiplatforms 5737-E42 Processor Value Unit

Processor Value Unit (PVU)

PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU table by processor value, brand, type, and model number at the website below) and the number of processors made available to the program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip (socket). A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores. The PVU table can be found on the PVU licensing for Distributed Software page. Licensee can deploy the program using either full capacity licensing or virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms found on the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules page. If using full capacity licensing, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores1 in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using virtualization capacity licensing, licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules that can be found on the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules page.

1
An activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions.

Notes:

  • Some programs may require licenses for the program and what is being managed. In that case, the following applies. In addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
  • Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies. Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
  • A few programs on an exception basis may be licensed on a referenced basis. In that case, the following applies. Rather than obtaining entitlements for the activated processor cores available to the program, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the environment made available to the referenced program as if the program itself were executing everywhere the referenced program was executing, independent of the basis on which the referenced program is licensed.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through intrusion prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a regulatory compliant, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.

Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
