Description
Bottom rule

IBM Partner Engagement Manager, a software as a service (SaaS) offering, previously named IBM Multi-Enterprise Relationship Management, enables you to engage business partners using a partner centric design that uses collaborative workflows and includes the following:

  • A single interface for all member interaction
  • Role-based permissions and access
  • The ability to share files with business partners
  • An activity framework that enables you to create activities to roll out to business partners, with visibility of the status of activity completion
  • The ability to form groups of companies that share similar attributes

Engagement through activities

An activity designer helps you create your own set of activities for partners based on their specific business needs. The activity designer offers an interactive, graphical visual representation of the workflow and user interface that will be presented to the partner. The visual representation makes creating activities faster and easier. By delivering a picture of what is going on, the activity designer can help you develop and understand the structure more quickly. The activity designer consists of the following components:

  • Task flow designer defines the task flow.
  • Dialog flow designer defines the flow of the dialog for a specific task.
  • Dialog appearance designer defines the dialog that will be presented to a partner.

After you create an activity, you can roll it out to a partner or a group of partners that are either selected on an individual basis, or based on an attribute or group of attributes to which they have been assigned. You can organize these partner groups by using criteria specific to the enterprise into groups using criteria such as industries, size, products, regions, technical capabilities, and so on.

Partners selected to participate in an activity can do so after being alerted of a new activity. They just need to follow the steps that you outlined during the activity definition phase. The interface presented to partners is intended to enable them to complete the actions with an interface designed for business users.

Visibility into progress

Partner Engagement Manager helps you to build, maintain, and leverage your partner relationships by externalizing their previously inward facing business processes. It offers complete visibility into partner activities and performance, enabling you to dynamically engage your partner community on an ongoing basis through projects. These projects are a series of distributed steps between you and your partners organized into activities with milestones and workflow alerting on the success, delays, and failures in workflow, all through a self-service view.

Partner Engagement Manager provides you and your partners with a view into the progress of tasks being completed as part of a workflow activity. This visibility enables external project progress monitoring as well as views into trading partner records that are shared between the partner and the enterprise.

You can quickly tell how an activity is progressing at the activity level for all partners as well as the specific progress of an individual partner. If a partner is falling behind, the workflow manager sends both the partner and you alerts on missed milestones that help both parties to collaboratively get an activity back on track.

Flexible architecture through REST APIs

Partner Engagement Manager is built on a flexible architecture that enables you to integrate your organization's host systems with Partner Engagement Manager. You can add APIs at different points within an activity. The program includes an API configuration option as part of its activity designer and, as long as the other system supports REST APIs, there is virtually no limit to what can be connected or accomplished.

You can use the REST API, for example, when getting started with Partner Engagement Manager. Rather than adding partners to Partner Engagement Manager manually through the Partner Engagement Manager interface, you can register and approve a set of partners and users for access to Partner Engagement Manager at one time with REST APIs. Manually entering partners into a system is repetitive and is prone to errors. Registering a set of partners and partner users at one time by doing a bulk upload of partner data can accelerate user registration and reduce onboarding time.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
