| Description |
The volume of an organization's unstructured content - email, presentations, contracts, forms - continues to rise at an exponential rate. A reliable method for organizing this abundance of content is critical. IBM Content Classification helps shift the classification burden away from users by providing organizations with an automated classification solution that can be configured to help users achieve consistent, reliable, and accurate classification across their unstructured content landscape.
You can use Content Classification to derive insight from your content and make consistent, accurate decisions about your content by combining and layering multiple methods of analysis (ranging from simple rules to entity extraction to learn by example approaches).
Advanced classification enables you to get more value from your content with fewer resources, helping you cut costs while simultaneously accelerating the rate at which new content-enabled applications are deployed. Content Classification helps you control the abundance of unstructured content and better leverage your Enterprise Content Management (ECM) investment.
IBM Content Classification can be used as a free-standing service, but operates in tandem with many elements of the IBM Enterprise Content Management (ECM) portfolio. Content Classification is integrated directly with various elements of the IBM ECM portfolio, including IBM Content Collector, IBM Enterprise Records, IBM Datacap, IBM Content Analytics with Enterprise Search, and IBM ECM repositories. Many of the new developments for this release have been created with these integration points in mind, in order to maximize the savings and automation IBM ECM customers can realize from deploying automated classification.
IBM Content Classification V8.8 helps organizations automate content categorization by combining multiple methods of context-sensitive analysis. Content Classification shifts the intelligence and cost burden away from employees by automating content-centric, categorization decisions. It helps users manage the abundance of unstructured content with content-enabled applications, while helping them spend less to manage that content.
There are four key benefits to automatically classifying content:
Accessibility, Usability, Compliance, and Analytics
Classification is necessary for most, if not all, facets of business. By properly classifying content, you ensure that it is accessible, so that you can find it when you need it. Classification increases usability by ensuring that the right content is delivered to the right person at the right time. Classification helps facilitate content compliance for legal and discovery purposes. Finally, Classification can enhance the content analysis experience, giving you more valuable insight from your content.
Accessibility - Workers need to be able to find relevant content, quickly. Content Classification can significantly improve the accessibility of content by properly classifying it at the time it is created or collected. Workers browsing for content can feel confident that their content is accurately organized and managed. Furthermore, by combining classification with enterprise search, organizations can move beyond simple keyword search to a robust and effective conceptual search that delivers a highly relevant set of results. Knowledge workers who have fast access to relevant content are able to make better, faster decisions. Content Classification provides improved accessibility through integration with FileNet® Content Manager, IBM Content Manager, Datacap and Content Analytics with Enterprise Search.
Usability - Workers need to be able use content within their business processes. Classification provides enhanced content usability by ensuring that classified content is delivered to the appropriate worker, by automating routing decisions based on the meaning of the text in the content and by immediately classifying new content produced during the business process. Content Classification provides greater usability through integration with Business Process Manager and Case Manager.
Compliance - Organizations need to comply with the federal, state, and local mandates and their own compliance rules that are imposed by the business. To enforce a records and retention plan, content needs to be properly managed and classified when it is created or collected. The better control you have over your record content, the better position your business will be in to comply with legal discovery requests and legal matters. Content Classification facilitates effective compliance through integration with Content Collector, Enterprise Records and eDiscovery.
Analytics - Organizations need to be able to derive meaning from content by reviewing and analyzing it. Classification enhances content analytics by allowing organizations to analyze a relevant, categorized set of content. Classification further augments analytics by providing extended facet navigation and content clustering, delivering additional analysis and insight. Content Classification delivers enhanced analytics through integration with Content Analytics with Enterprise Search.
IBM Content Classification brings the power of automatic, context-based classification to every organization. Content Classification:
- Makes information accessible to your employees, allowing them to focus on important business tasks rather than searching, over and over, for relevant content
- Provides enhanced content usability by automating process decisions based on the meaning of the text in your content
- Facilitates faster compliance with business and legal policies, by appropriately classifying content when it is created or collected
- Augments content analysis by offering advanced categorization and content clustering to deliver better analysis and insight
Content Classification features
Classification Quick Start Tool
The Classification Quick Start Tool is a new application that guides and semi-automates the process of training Content Classification to recognize and correctly classify documents into categories. It is designed as a step-by-step approach, with easy-to-understand language and directions. Through a new graphical user interface (GUI), the user will be guided through each step, from selecting documents and setting categories, to tuning and analysis.
Classification Workbench
Classification Workbench is a Windows application that you can use to create, analyze, and evaluate the performance of knowledge bases and decision plans. The workbench administration provides an intuitive navigation experience with sample projects and tutorials to help users begin classifying content more rapidly. With these tutorials, you can explore the capabilities of the product on your own, at your own pace. The result is an optimized knowledge base and tailored decision plan that can be used with the Content Classification server and other applications using built-in APIs. Whether you develop your own applications using APIs or you use existing applications, Classification Workbench is the application devoted to the creation, training, and analysis of knowledge bases and decision plans.
Classification Center
The Classification Center is an application in Content Classification that monitors and executes classification of content in the repositories. Further, the Classification Center application provides the ability to review and modify the classifications assigned by Content Classification. This review process is one avenue for providing real-time feedback to Content Classification through the "train-by-example" approach. The Classification Center application operates directly with IBM Content Manager and IBM FileNet Content Manager. With Classification Center application running against one of the IBM ECM repositories, the Classification Center can monitor file system folders and execute classification for content on a file system. Content Classification can reorganize and reassign content to new folders on your file system based on its analysis and categorization of the information.

Charge metrics definitions
User Value Unit (UVU)
UVU is the metric by which this program is licensed. UVU entitlements are based on the number of users for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of UVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The UVU entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with UVU entitlements of another software program. UVU licensing offers price benefits for customers by enabling a lower cost of incremental growth of resources. To understand these benefits of UVU licensing, and to determine how many UVUs to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.
A Value Unit is a pricing charge metric for program license entitlements which is based upon the quantity of a specific designated measurement used for a given program. Each program has a designated measurement. The most commonly used designated measurement is a processor core. However, for select programs, there are other designated measurements such as users or resources which may include servers, client devices, and messages. The number of value unit entitlements required for a program depends on how the program is deployed in your environment and must be obtained from a value unit table. You must obtain a PoE for the calculated number of value unit entitlements for your implementation. The value unit entitlements are specific to a program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with Value Unit entitlements of another program.
At all times, the number of users accessing the program or any component of the program in any manner, directly or indirectly (for instance, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) or through any other means must not exceed your entitlement to use the program, as indicated on the applicable PoEs.
Authorized (AUVU): For selectively licensing internal users within your organization. The number of AUVUs (Authorized UVUs) you require is based on the number of authorized users within your organization that may access the program and/or whose user content may be analyzed using the program in any manner at set forth in the Authorized User Value Unit (AUVU) license conversion table.
External (XUVU): For licensing users who are external to your organization whose user content is analyzed using the program. The number of XUVUs (External UVUs) you require is based on the number of external users whose user content may be analyzed using the program in any manner as set forth in the External User Value Unit (XUVU) license conversion table.
Employee (EUVU): For collectively licensing all of your internal users. The number of EUVUs (Employee UVUs) you require will be based on the number of employees in your Enterprise as set forth in the Employee User Value Unit (EUVU) license conversion table.
Enterprise: An Enterprise includes any legal entity that, by more than 50%, owns, is owned by, or is under common ownership with You. You are the legal entity that is authorized to execute and administer this agreement on behalf of an enterprise. You need not be a 'company' and may be the entire enterprise.
Processor Value Unit (PVU)
PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology, defined within the PVU table by processor value, brand, type and model number at
and the number of processors made available to the program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores.Licensee can deploy the program using either full capacity licensing or virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (refer to web page below). If using full capacity licensing, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores* in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using virtualization capacity licensing, licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at
* An activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions.
Notes:
- Some programs may require licenses for the program and what is being managed. In that case, the following applies: In addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
- Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies. Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
- A few programs on an exception basis may be licensed on a referenced basis. In that case, the following applies. Rather than obtaining entitlements for the activated processor cores available to the program, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the environment made available to the referenced program as if the program itself were executing everywhere the referenced program was executing, independent of the basis on which the referenced program is licensed.

Improper access can result in information being altered destroyed or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
On/Off Capacity on Demand (CoD)
To be eligible for On/Off CoD pricing, customers must be enabled for temporary capacity on the corresponding hardware, and the required contract - Z125-6907, Amendment for iSeries® and pSeries® Temporary Capacity On Demand - Software - must be signed prior to use.

| IBM Electronic Services |
IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.
The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.
The Electronic Service Agent is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM . Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
