IBM DB2 Web Query for i (5733-WQE, 5733-WQS) is relaunched under a new product structure, 5733-WQX. This product structure provides both an Express and Standard level offering for simplified ordering and to help you match capabilities to your business needs. The product also provides core-based pricing to let customers order a level of Web Query that best fits their needs for their environment.
The new product provides many new functional enhancements that make the product even simpler to use, yet more powerful in capabilities. Creating reports and dashboards is made easier and faster using a single, consolidated web-based editor. A new web browser-based user security administration interface allows Web Query administrators to manage developers and users simpler and easier. Not only can users be managed through this new interface, those users can also be assigned specific roles, which enables more granular security controls for each user. New to the product is also a web-based metadata synonym editor to allow metadata management integration with the rest of the web-based interfaces. Report scheduling now supports standard IBM i job scheduling for those customers that want to integrate report scheduling with other batch work on the system.
Current DB2 Web Query customers with product 5733-QU2 will be entitled to the new product and will appreciate the built-in migration support in the new product to make the move simple.

Statement of direction
IBM intends to enhance its systems management capabilities for Power Systems hardware as follows:
- Continued integration between the base platform management capabilities in HMC and advanced capabilities in IBM Systems Director
- Enhancement of the HMC to add support for Power Systems blades and mixed rack and blade server environments
- New HMC virtual appliance offering
- New process for transitioning from SDMC to HMC
- Improved usability
- Enhancement of HMC to provide RAID 1 support
IBM intends to provide PowerVM Live Partition Mobility support for IBM i partitions on IBM PureFlex Systems.
IBM plans that POWER6® servers running the IBM i release following 7.1 will not support the older, slower HSL/RIO-attached I/O drawers. This planning statement does not impact POWER7 clients or IBM i 7.1 clients. POWER7 servers do not support HSL/RIO I/O drawers and there is no change to IBM i 7.1 HSL/RIO support. IBM i clients who have an HSL/RIO-attached I/O drawer or tower such as the features 5094/5294, 0595/5095, 0588/5088, 5790, or 5791/5794 should plan on moving to newer 12X-attached I/O drawers on their POWER6 server before moving to the release following IBM i 7.1. Note that HSL/RIO I/O drawers or towers are the only enclosure that supports IOP adapters on a POWER6 server. Attachment to some older devices is only provided through an IOP-based adapter. For example, IOP-based communication adapters are required for SDLC/SNA/X.25 device attachment. Likewise, an IOP is required for twinax device attachment without a protocol converter. for additional detail, visit
The IBM Image Construction and Composition Tool is planned to support IBM i. This tooling is planned to allow ISVs and customers to construct customizable virtual images of IBM i virtual servers, including embedded applications. These virtual images could be subsequently deployed (provisioned) and automatically configured in environments managed through Systems Director VMControl.

IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.
IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, consult the IBM Software Support Handbook found at
IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).
Money-back guarantee
If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.
For clarification, note that for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Statement of good security practices
IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered destroyed or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.

IBM Electronic Services
IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.
The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.
The Electronic Service Agent is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM . Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
