Unlike messaging appliances that merely consolidate existing messaging services onto a convenient hardware form factor, this new generation of messaging appliances intends to be specifically engineered to deliver massive scale communications beyond the enterprise. These appliances plan to deliver publish and subscribe messaging for machine-to-machine communications, reaching out to a multitude of devices and sensors that make up the expanding Internet of Things. These appliances intend to dramatically scale the number of concurrently connected devices, enabling large volumes of events to be streamed into analytics engines for processing big data.
These messaging appliances are intended to enable increased intelligence applied to messaging in real time by supporting new levels of performance. The ability to scale messaging for a wide variety of use cases including big data, massive sensor networks, intelligent automotive applications and large-scale secure mobile banking are planned.
