In Version 3.10, GDPS® has been enhanced with a number of new capabilities that address improved cross-platform support, enhanced availability, increased scalability, and simplified systems management. In addition, new tools are available that can be used in conjunction with GDPS . These tools extend and complement GDPS functionality and help manage the GDPS environment.

IBM® Server Optimization and Integration Services - IBM Implementation Services for GDPS V3.9, announced in Services Announcement 612-008, dated March 13, 2012 , has been enhanced and updated to Version 3.10.

IBM Implementation Services for GDPS , part of the server services service product line, is a high-availability and disaster-recovery application solution for IBM System z® environments. GDPS can manage the remote copy configuration and storage subsystem(s), and automate Parallel Sysplex® operational tasks and failure recovery, all from a central point of control, thereby improving application availability across single or multiple sites. GDPS delivers continuous availability through planned and unplanned disk outages.

IBM Implementation Services for GDPS is a project-based service that includes the following components:

Statement of direction

IBM intends to deliver a four site solution to add to the GDPS solution family. This capability would allow 4 copies of data to be managed by GDPS across sites in a production region and disaster recovery region, provide the ability to switch between regions, and provide customers with both high availability and disaster recovery in both regions.

IBM Implementation Services for GDPS is a suite of high-availability and disaster-recovery service product solutions for System z environments. GDPS manages the remote copy configuration and storage subsystem(s), and automates Parallel Sysplex operational tasks and failure recovery, all from a central point of control, thereby improving application availability across single or multiple sites. It delivers continuous availability through planned and unplanned disk outages.

GDPS supports all major transaction managers (for example, CICS® Transaction Server) and database managers (for example, DB2® , IMS™ , and VSAM), and leverages these key IBM technologies to provide a unique solution:
