Managed Service Provider (MSP) utility pricing offering for IBM Power Systems

To mitigate the risks associated with starting and/or extending a hosting services business, IBM® is making available, to qualified Managed Service Providers (MSPs), discounts for the components of a Cloud Infrastructure purchased with Power Systems™. To take advantage of the discounts, a Managed Service Provider must contract with IBM to pay for the use of the Cloud Infrastructure.
If eligible Managed Service Providers (MSPs)*, acquire a Cloud Infrastructure with IBM Power Systems solution for the purposes of providing private cloud hosting services on IBM Power Systems, they can receive a discount off the Single Unit Purchase Price (SUPP) and One-Time Charge (OTC) of the eligible Power Systems products they acquire.

The MSP Hosting Infrastructure with Utility Pricing contract establishes a Maximum Amount Due, which is a fixed amount the MSP is required to pay for the use of the Cloud Infrastructure. Each quarter, the MSP must collect use metrics, calculate the amount owed for use, and purchase a quantity of Core User Features (billing features) that satisfy the quarterly amount owed. The quarterly payment is applied against the Maximum Amount Due until the Maximum Amount Due is fully paid.

* defined as a company that is hired by clients outside such company’s Enterprise to perform certain information technology services, such as but not limited to hosting workloads, on an ongoing basis, for an agreed upon fee as specified in a service level agreement (SLA) or other contract.

Orders for the eligible products must be received by IBM on or after November 20, 2012.
