Description

With enhancements to its previously announced Commerce Solutions products and the addition of Call Center for Commerce, IBM continues to increase the value companies can provide to their customers. By enhancing the interoperability between WebSphere Commerce and Sterling Order Management through a shared services framework, IBM delivers on its vision for a customer-centric approach to commerce with enhanced cross-channel selling and fulfillment capabilities.

Companies can take advantage of these Smarter Commerce™ solutions to deliver a seamless, end-to-end, cross-channel, and highly personalized buying experience, from opportunity through order fulfillment.

WebSphere Commerce V7.0 Feature Pack 7

Feature Pack 7 delivers Commerce Composer for WebSphere Commerce, Web Content Manager integration, enhancements to previously announced capabilities, and an ecosystem of independent software vendor capabilities. Feature Pack 7 replaces Feature Pack 6 and includes all of the Feature Pack 6 features. For complete details about WebSphere V7.0 and previous feature packs, refer to the specific announcements listed in the Reference information section.

Commerce Composer for WebSphere Commerce: Commerce Composer for WebSphere Commerce (Commerce Composer) is designed to provide business users with the ability to create and modify store page layouts and content without the need for IT resources. Business users can assign functions to pages through reusable apps from the Commerce Composer apps library to create new store pages. The apps can represent native WebSphere Commerce features or capabilities from independent software vendors and system integrators that have been integrated to work with WebSphere Commerce and which can be configured to meet the specific requirements of business users.

The Commerce Composer tool offers a streamlined work flow that can help improve productivity and reduce time-to-market for campaigns and product lines. By adopting the Commerce Composer tool, business users can:

IT developers and IBM Business Partners can create their own apps and templates to customize and enrich Commerce Composer capabilities. To facilitate the development of these assets, IBM provides utilities, along with detailed instructions and tutorials, to help companies reduce the time required to get their Commerce Composer implementation up and running.

Available apps can be found at

http://www-01.ibm.com/software/commerce/websphere-commerce/technology-partners/

CKEditor integration with Management Center: CKEditor integration with Management Center enables business users to create and edit rich text content for store pages directly in Management Center by using CKEditor. CKEditor is an open-source, HTML-based, WYSIWIG editor that offers advanced editing capabilities to simplify the creation of web content. A customized version of CKEditor is embedded in multiple Management Center tools. These include the Catalogs, Marketing, Promotions, and Commerce Composer tools. By using CKEditor, business users can create HTML content without having to code the HTML tags directly. With a simple change to their preferences, business users can switch from the previous Management Center rich text editor to CKEditor.

Starter store responsive design: New responsive design techniques help enable business users quickly and easily create and manage mobile-optimized and tablet-optimized stores. WebSphere Commerce recognizes the type and size of the device the visitor is using and automatically optimizes and delivers content for that device. With responsive design, business users no longer have to manage individual stores for each device type. Responsive design helps:

Site search: Site search performance and scalability are improved with WebSphere Commerce Search. WebSphere Commerce Search can be deployed with vertical and horizontal scaling to handle site navigation and search requests through a representational state transfer (REST) interface.

Web Content Manager integration: With Web Content Manager integration, marketers and merchandisers can more quickly and easily create and manage content and incorporate content into a store for an improved customer experience. Web Content Manager gives Management Center users the ability to manage all WebSphere Commerce content within an integrated content management system. It provides users with rich text editing tools, content workflow, multilingual support, and content pre-rendering support. The prebuilt integration uses a punch-out mechanism to give Management Center users direct access to the Web Content Manager user interface for content editing.

Use of Web Content Manager requires a separate license.

REST API enhancements: REST API enhancements support use cases for digital marketing, promotion, coupon, prices, order, site navigation, and content search through a simplified REST framework to help lower implementation costs.

Multiple attribute assignment: Assignment of multiple attributes to multiple products within the Attribute Dictionary is simplified for business users. Using Management Center, business users can select the attributes that they need to assign to a set of products, select the set of products, and then simply save the assignment. Business users can continue to add, remove, or change the attribute assignment for an individual product as necessary.

Storefront separation: Storefront separation can now be enabled to allow storefront development teams to develop, build, and deploy changes independently from updates to server-side application code and business user tooling. This enables storefront changes, which the business often requires to be delivered at a high tempo, to be put into production more frequently, faster, and with minimal disruption to the business. Through this architectural change, which splits the storefront code into an additional Enterprise Archive (EAR) file, storefront Java™ Server Page (JSP) changes can be deployed without server restarts.

IBM Tealeaf® bundle: WebSphere Commerce now includes a limited-use bundle with Tealeaf Customer Experience that enables Tealeaf to be used in test environments to explore its capability. The Tealeaf offering helps rapidly identify and resolve hidden or hard-to-find site application issues through analytical insights and problem area drill down. By replaying troublesome shopper interactions, exact problems can be pinpointed and actionable resolutions can be taken. The WebSphere Commerce Aurora starter store checkout flow is pre-configured with Tealeaf Customer Experience.

Other improvements:

Sterling Order Management V9.3

Enhancements in Version 9.3 provide additional options for businesses to deploy Sterling Order Management with eCommerce and POS systems. It also further optimizes sourcing and inventory promising methods to allow business users greater flexibility and control over the order fulfillment process.

Improved integration of Commerce Solutions: Version 9.3 features enhanced integration between WebSphere Commerce and Sterling Order Management using shared integration components available as part of the Services Definition Framework (SDF). The framework provides a palette of tools and configurable workflow management for integrating Sterling Order Management with other applications. This approach of direct integration between the Commerce Solutions products offers an easier alternative for deploying the Commerce Solutions without the introduction of any new or unfamiliar mediation software.

The integrations supported in this release maintain parity with the WebSphere Enterprise Service Bus (WESB)-based integration flows and provides synchronous and asynchronous integration methods for scenarios such as pricing, reservation, inventory check, order lookup, order confirmation updates, and inventory availability updates.

Simplified management of product fulfillment locations through definition of smart distribution groups to improve the quality of sourcing decisions: As businesses grow and expand their stores and distribution centers, management of the numerous possible fulfillment locations can become tedious. Version 9.3 provides the mechanism to combine the fulfillment locations into smart distribution groups. The implementation of smart distribution groups along with the enhanced real-time availability monitor (RTAM) provides faster insight into available inventory and efficient sourcing from candidate sourcing locations.

Streamlined inventory sourcing and availability update decisions based on item velocity: Version 9.3 provides a systematic process to dynamically monitor fast-moving items at fulfillment locations and exclude at-risk choices while identifying the best location to fulfill customer orders.

Inclusion of value-added services in the available-to-promise calculation to help optimize fulfillment and assure customer satisfaction: Retailers provide personalization choices, such as monogramming, to help differentiate their brand. This enhancement adds an accurate promised date, which factors the time and location attributes of the value-add to help optimize fulfillment in streamlined operations and to help improve customer satisfaction.

An additional option (through user exits) that can be applied to cost-based scheduling using business operations elements as a weight representation to influence sourcing decisions: Cost-based scheduling allows fulfillment strategies to be influenced by the costing tools and systems that business users employ. This new option allows for the introduction of additional customized operating costs to be considered during the scheduling process.

Flexible deployment models: Version 9.3 features architectural enhancements for Sterling Order Management to be extended to multiple instances, each serving a local population of users. These enhancements enable a scalable implementation model having a mix of corporate enterprise servers, regional servers, and remote servers that reside on the edges of the network, such as retail stores, warehouse and depot locations, and offshore call centers.

These edge deployment models lend themselves very well to POS implementations, which may involve the use of additional servers deployed locally in the physical store. Such servers can support key functional components across a choice of implementation models including fail-over mode, redundant mode, and offline mode.

Related enhancements include updates to API services and integration methods to help in synchronizing master data and transactions, such as orders, returns, and inventory updates, between these additional instances. In retail scenarios, this can be used to support roll-out and deployment of code changes, such as new versions, new releases, patches, fix packs, and extensions to field test sites or pilot stores to allow for the migration of a selected set of stores at one time.

Value unit pricing

The pricing for Call Center for Commerce is based on User Value Units (UVUs). The Users for the purpose of UVU calculation are Authorized Users. An Authorized User is a unique person who is given access to the Program in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means. An entitlement for an Authorized User is unique to that Authorized User and may not be shared, nor may it be reassigned other than for the permanent transfer of the Authorized User entitlement to another person.

The UVU scaling table is a step-tiered model, meaning that each quantity tier must be multiplied by the scaling factor for that tier, and the UVU quantity for each tier added together to calculate the total UVU quantity. Any fractional UVU totals are rounded up to the next whole number. UVU quantities must be calculated separately for each chargeable component.

From 1 to 20 Users: 1 UVU per Users
From 21 to 50 Users: 20 UVUs plus 0.83 UVUs per Users above

Terms and conditions
Bottom rule

The information provided in this announcement letter is for reference and convenience purposes only. The terms and conditions that govern any transaction with IBM are contained in the applicable contract documents such as the IBM International Program License Agreement, IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement, and the IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance.

This product is only available via Passport Advantage. It is not available as shrinkwrap.

Licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

These programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered destroyed or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
