Enterprises in many industries manage many types of data formats. This potpourri of data formats adds complexity and management difficulty. Printing via Print Services Facility™ (PSF) for z/OS provides unmatched flexibility and management capabilities. PSF drives IPDS printers via the management of Advanced Function Presentation (AFP) print data streams from JES2 and JES3.

This release of Infoprint Server Transforms to AFP for z/OS renames the product to Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS . Additionally, Infoprint Transforms to AFP V2.3 includes support for:

Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS , V2.3 helps utilize your investment in both non-AFP applications and AFP printers by providing printing capabilities using PSF for data streams created in PCL, PostScript , PDF, and SAP R/3.

IBM Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS , V2.3 replaces Infoprint Server Transforms to AFP V2.2 for z/OS and provides the following enhancements:

SAP2AFP

The SAP to AFP (SAP2AFP) transform for z/OS has been enhanced to SAPGOF Release 4.6C and most of SAP 6.10. Support has been added for using TrueType fonts in the output and for specifying FS45 color output.

Additionally, the SAP2AFP transform now has support for higher output resolution options and for IS/3-compliant AFP output for Output Text Font (OTF) data.

PCL2AFP

The PCL to AFP (PCL2AFP) transform now has support for higher output resolution options and also provides an option for creating IS/3-compatible output.

PS2AFP

The PostScript (PS) to AFP (PS2AFP) transform has been enhanced to provide the option for creating IS/3-compatible output.

PDF2AFP

The PDF to AFP (PDF2AFP) transform has been enhanced to provide support for PDF level 1.7, and earlier and for IS/3-compliant AFP output for OTF data.

Packaging

Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS , V2.3 is packaged using SMP/E and is available in the worldwide customized offerings, ServPac and CBPDO. Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS , V2.3 has a slightly different set of fonts than the prior release. The fonts included in this product are listed in the IBM Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS , V2.3 publication, form number G550-0443-05.

The subset of WorldType fonts that are needed by the IBM Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS product to enable the SAP2AFP transform's TrueType output function are now included in this release of Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS .

A program directory is supplied with the basic machine-readable material.

Security, auditability, and control

Infoprint Transforms to AFP for z/OS , V2.3 uses the security features and programs of the z/OS operating systems. The customer is responsible for evaluation, selection, and implementation of security features, administrative procedures, and appropriate controls in application systems and communication facilities.

Current licensees of IBM Infoprint Transforms to AFP V2.1 for z/OS or IBM Infoprint Server Transforms to AFP V2.2 for z/OS that want to migrate to V2.3 must order this release as specified in the New licensees section.

Product deliverables are shipped only via CBPDO and ServerPac. These customized offerings are offered for Internet delivery in countries where Shopz product ordering is available.
