Today's software delivery challenges require a more concerted approach to Application Lifecycle Management (ALM). The IBM® Rational® solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM) is the IBM implementation for ALM, based on the Rational Jazz platform.
The IBM native CLM solution integrates Rational Team Concert , Rational Requirements Composer, and Rational Quality Manager to create a seamless and highly collaborative solution for softwaredelivery. However, many IBM customers have existing tools that stem from a variety of sources that also need such integration to gain visibility across a diverse toolset.
The Rational Lifecycle Integration Adapters extend the Rational CLM solution with integrations to select third-party tools. These adapters also provide integrations for Rational ClearQuest® . The Rational Lifecycle Integration Adapters enable customers to gain greater value from these Rational products when practicing ALM in aheterogeneous lifecycle tools environment. The first release of this offering includes adapters for integrating with HP ALM, Atlassian JIRA, and open source Git.

| Overview |
The Rational product family provides a seamless integration of ALM capabilities referred to as the IBM Rational solution for Collaborative Lifecycle Management (CLM). CLM provides a collaborative way for software delivery teams to unify multiple platforms and coordinate roles and activities across the core ALM disciplines of Change Management, Requirements Management, and Quality Management.
The core CLM solution integrates a corresponding set of products -- Rational Team Concert , Rational Requirements Composer, and Rational Quality Manager -- to create a seamless and highly collaborative solution for software delivery. This solution can also be integrated with Rational Software Architect to extend the value of CLM to design management. IBM also maintains integrations between a number of its other ALM products, such as Rational ClearQuest .
The experience gained from driving integration across these products helps to identify the challenges in applying traditional integration technologies. It spurred IBM to look toward more strategic solutions, including involvement in the Open Services for LifecycleCollaboration (OSLC) and W3C Linked Data Platform. OSLC provides a set of interfaces organized into a number of functional areas (domains) that allow lifecycle tools that stem from many sources to link and trace data being managed by those tools. OSLC is now the Rational standard for integration implementation.
The Rational product family is expanding its implementation of OSLC integrations beyond the Rational products. Many of our customers operate in a highly diverse and heterogeneous lifecycle environment. There are a variety of reasons why tools already established in their environments are critical to their business. These tools often cannot simply be removed and replaced with new ones. Therefore, IBM takes its experience with integrations across Rational products and applies it to select third-party tools as well.
By listening to customers, IBM assessed which tools are most needed for integrating with Rational products. IBM created a new Integrations Directory on jazz.net (jazz.net/extend) that lists all of the integrations currently available with Rational tools. This directory also includes a facility for requesting integrations that do not yet exist. It encourages customers to share their integration needs to continuously help IBM identify the highest priority tools for its Rational customers.
As strong drivers in the OSLC community, IBM champions an open approach to linked data specifications that can be adopted by vendor, business partner, and community members directly. The results of this approach can now be seen in a new offering called the Rational Lifecycle Integration Adapters. These adapters allow customers to continue using their existing lifecycle tools and still gain benefitfrom many capabilities found in the Rational ALM products. The first release of this offering includes adapters for integrating with HP ALM, Atlassian JIRA, and open source Git.

Processor Value Unit (PVU)
PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU table by processor value, brand, type and model number at http://www.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/pvu_licensing_for_customers.html ) and the number of processors made available to the program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores.
Licensee can deploy the program using either full capacity licensing or virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (refer to web page below). If using full capacity licensing, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores* in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using virtualization capacity licensing, licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at http://www.ibm.com/software/lotus/passportadvantage/Counting_Software_licenses_using_sp ecific_virtualization_technologies.html
* An activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions.
Notes
Some programs may require licenses for the program AND what is being managed. In that case, the following applies: In addition to the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
Some programs may be licensed on a managed basis only. In that case, the following applies. Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the processor cores managed by the program.
A few programs on an exception basis may be licensed on a referenced basis. In that case, the following applies. Rather than obtaining entitlements for the activated processor cores available to the program, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the environment made available to the referenced program as if the program itself were executing everywhere the referenced program was executing, independent of the basis on which the referenced program is licensed.
