IBM SmartCloud Control Desk V7.5 delivers a solution for service catalog, service desk, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3 based processes for incident, problem, change, configuration, release, and IT asset management across these complex IT landscapes - to help your efforts to improve continuity of service, speed of response, and efficiency of management. IBM SmartCloud Control Desk V7.5 replaces and unifies IBM Tivoli® Service Request Manager®, IBM Tivoli Change and Configuration Management Database, IBM Tivoli Asset Management for IT, and IBM Tivoli Service Manager Quick Install.

Description |
IBM SmartCloud Control Desk V7.5 is a new and unified way to provide critical service functionality. It delivers a single solution for service catalog, request management, and Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3 based processes of incident, problem, change, configuration, release management, and IT asset management across complex IT landscapes. With IBM SmartCloud Control Desk, you get a comprehensive software and asset lifecycle management solution including requisition, procurement, inventory, deployment, and contract management.
IBM SmartCloud Control Desk delivers these functions in a unified solution, which means a single user license, single install, and single maintenance stream. IBM SmartCloud Control Desk replaces the existing IBM Tivoli Service Request Manager, IBM Tivoli Change and Configuration Management Database, IBM Tivoli Asset Management for IT, and IBM Tivoli Service Manager Quick Install products.
In addition, you can choose a new smaller service management offering that provides a simpler and less complex product for service desk and change management. Less complex means that it requires fewer skills to maintain, which can mean lower cost of ownership.
You can purchase authorized and concurrent licenses that allow you access to all functions in the product. This will let you use what you need without having to track licenses at the functional level.
New deployment methods will be available for you to chose from:
- Standard install, which is how customers typically implement IBM Tivoli products today
- Software as a Service (SaaS) model that enables you access to the software by paying a monthly license charge versus deploying the software to your local infrastructure
- VM image for gaining access to new functions quickly and easily.

Licensing metric definitions
Authorized User
Authorized User is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. An Authorized User is a unique person who is given access to the program. The program may be installed on any number of computers or servers and each Authorized User may have simultaneous access to any number of instances of the program at one time. Licensee must obtain separate, dedicated entitlements for each Authorized User given access to the program in any manner directly or indirectly (for example: via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means. An entitlement for an Authorized User is unique to that Authorized User and may not be shared, nor may it be reassigned other than for the permanent transfer of the Authorized User entitlement to another person.
Concurrent User
Concurrent User is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. A Concurrent User is a person who is accessing the program at any particular point in time. Regardless of whether the person is simultaneously accessing the program multiple times, the person counts only as a single Concurrent User. The program may be installed on any number of computers or servers, but licensee must obtain entitlements for the maximum number of Concurrent Users simultaneously accessing the program. Licensee must obtain an entitlement for each simultaneous Concurrent User accessing the program in any manner directly or indirectly (for example: via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.
IBM SmartCloud Control Desk V7.5 is priced per Authorized User and per Concurrent User. License entitlement is priced per Authorized User, Concurrent User, or a combination of both types of users. An Authorized User may log on at any point in time without restriction. The maximum number of concurrent users who may log on simultaneously must be less than or equal to the number of entitled concurrent user licenses. There is no charge for end users (sometimes referred to as self-service requestors).
Pricing examples
Pricing example 1
A customer wishes to purchase IBM SmartCloud Control Desk V7.5 to help manage an environment of 5,000 employees with 130 service desk, change management, and asset management personnel. Of the 130 personnel, 10 are supervisors who must be able to log on at any point without restriction. The remaining 120 personnel are representatives who are scheduled to work during each of three shifts as follows:
- First shift: 40 representatives
- Second shift: 40 representatives
- Third shift: 40 representatives
Forty is the maximum number of Concurrent Users who will need to be logged on during a single shift. In this example, the customer must purchase 10 Authorized User licenses and 40 Concurrent User licenses. No licenses are required for the 5,000 employees (the end users of the services). Note that the number of personnel and number of employees in this example are not intended to imply a standard ratio. The ratio (as well as Authorized User and Concurrent User license entitlements) can vary by enterprise.
Pricing example 2
A large customer wishes to purchase IBM SmartCloud Control Desk V7.5 to improve the overall efficiency of their operations. The customer's IT organization includes two major locations ("Location A" and "Location B") in two different time zones. The number of personnel at both locations combined totals 500. "Location A" employs 250 personnel. Twenty five of these 250 are supervisors who guide teams of representatives or manage content and delivery. These supervisors must be able to log in at any time without restriction. The remaining 225 representatives work across multiple shifts, with a maximum of 75 logging at once.
Location B is staffed in the same manner as Location A.
In this example, the customer must purchase entitlements for 50 Authorized Users and 150 Concurrent Users.
- 50 = 25 Authorized Users for "Location A" + 25 Authorized Users for "Location B"
- 150 = 75 Concurrent Users for "Location A" + 75 Concurrent Users 75 for "Location B"

Ordering information for Passport Advantage
Passport Advantage allows you to have a common anniversary date Software Subscription and Support (SW S&S) renewals, which can simplify management and budgeting for eligible new versions and releases (and related technical support) for your covered products. The anniversary date, established at the start of your Passport Advantage Agreement, will remain unchanged while your Passport Advantage Agreement remains in effect. New software purchases will initially include twelve full months of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance). Software Subscription and Support in the second year (the first year of renewal) can be prorated to be coterminous with your common anniversary date. Thereafter, all Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance) will renew at the common anniversary date for twelve full months of Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance).
Refer to the IBM International Passport Advantage Agreement and to the IBM Software Support Handbook for specific terms relating to, and a more complete description of, technical support provided through Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance).

Licensing
IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.
These programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

Limited warranty
IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the results obtained from the use of the program.
IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at no additional charge. For further information, consult the IBM Software Support Handbook found at
IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).
Program technical support
Technical support of a program product version or release will be available for a minimum of five years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) is in effect. This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance) also provides you with access to updates (modifications or fixes), releases, and versions of the program. You will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.
Money-back guarantee
If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.
For clarification, note that (1) for programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program and (2) for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Electronic Services is a web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers.
