Overview
Bottom rule

IBM ILOG LogicNet Plus XE V7.2 is a packaged decision-support solution for supply chain strategic planning such as network design and sourcing optimization. It is intended to complement and enhance existing investments in enterprise resource planning (ERP) and advanced planning and scheduling (APS) solutions. Specifically, IBM ILOG LogicNet Plus XE V7.2 may help:

  • Design supply chains to achieve up to 15% reduction in logistics cost and up to 5% in manufacturing costs: Rationalize global supply chains to reduce operational costs though trade off between transportation, manufacturing, and facility costs. Manage business growth and capital investments by determining where and when new facilities are needed.
  • Improve customer service levels: Understand the trade-offs between least-cost and high-service distribution networks. Identify the most profitable customers in case of capacity shortages.
  • Develop supply chain strategies to complement and execute overall corporate strategy such as expansion into new markets, new products, merger and acquisitions, and divestitures.
  • Reveal operational improvements after mergers and acquisitions: Consolidate supply chain assets to improve efficiency and return on investment (ROI).
  • Develop contingency plans: Mitigate the business risk by analyzing various worst-case scenarios. Understand the cost and service impact of unexpected but potential events.
  • Identify least-cost production sourcing decisions: Optimize the decision making process on product sourcing strategies taking into account the capacity limitations, resource availabilities, and overall supply chain cost. Develop quarterly, monthly, and weekly production and sourcing plans.
  • Design tax-efficient supply chains: Understand the efficient and feasible ways to take the advantage of low tax regions to increase profitability. Maximize after-tax profit by balancing the costs of operating in different countries and trade zones.
  • Evaluate what-if scenarios: Understand the cost and service impact of changes in transportation costs, changes in manufacturing costs, changes to currency exchange rates or taxes, adding or removing shifts, or changing the source of products.

IBM ILOG LogicNet Plus XE V7.2 includes new features:

  • State-of-the-art optimization technologies
    • Ability to create and analyze multiple optimization objectives simultaneously
    • Improved multi-period modeling capabilities

Description
Bottom rule

IBM ILOG LogicNet Plus XE, a software for supply chain network optimization and supply chain design, an off-the-shelf decision support solution for ongoing strategic planning. This solution helps determine optimal supply chain configurations by considering variables such as manufacturing costs and capabilities, transportation modes and costs, warehousing costs and capacities, taxes, duties and service constraints. This product handles some of the most complex networks and is capable of designing multitier global supply chains.

IBM LogicNet Plus XE facilitates quick analysis of the tradeoffs between production, warehousing, transportation costs, carbon footprint, and service requirements and additionally the calculation of the optimal network configuration for different cost and service objectives. Solutions can be viewed, compared and easily exported to tables and graphs for presentations and further analysis.

Problem-oriented features

  • Evaluate the network and determine where and when new facilities are needed
  • Perform end-to-end supply chain optimization, referred to as global optimization
  • Consider many scenarios and frequently run what-ifs scenarios

Because the frequency of strategic decision making on matters such as facility locations, inventory positioning and production sourcing is relatively low (for example, quarterly, or annually), it is important to analyze many different scenarios in order to develop robust strategies and understand the trade-offs between different decisions.

Take uncertainties and risk into account. Uncertainties are inherent in planning on many levels. This not only includes uncertainty in demand, but also uncertainties in supply, as well as processing and transportation time. The ability to incorporate uncertainty into the supply chain model allows decision makers to determine the appropriate inventory levels at different locations for different products, thus satisfying service level targets while minimizing system-wide cost.

Help to reduce system-wide supply chain costs: the majority of a supply chains lifecycle cost is locked in the phase when strategic decisions determine the nature and design of the network such as determining the structure of the distribution network -- decisions on where to produce, and where to locate facilities.

Charge metrics definitions

Authorized User

Authorized User is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. An Authorized User is an individual (named or unnamed) within or outside of your enterprise. The program may be installed on one or more computers or servers and accessed by the number of users authorized by the Proof of Entitlement (PoE). You must have an entitlement for each Authorized User accessing the program or any program component in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means.

User Value Unit (UVU)

UVU is the metric by which this program is licensed. UVU entitlements are based on the number of users for the given program. A Proof of Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for the appropriate number of UVUs required for your environment as defined by the specific program terms. The UVU entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with UVU entitlements of another software program. UVU licensing offers you price benefits for customers by enabling a lower cost of incremental growth of resources. To understand these benefits of UVU licensing, and to determine how many UVUs to obtain for the program, contact your IBM representative.

IBM Electronic Services
Bottom rule

IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent.

The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems.

The Electronic Service Agent™ is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
