Licensing metric definition
Tiered terabytes (1-12), (13-32), (33-64), (65-100), (101-250), (251+)
Terabyte (1-12), terabyte (13-32), terabyte (33-64), terabyte (65-100),
terabyte (101-250), and terabyte (251+) is a unit of measure by which the
program can be licensed. Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs) are based on the number
terabytes available to the program. A terabyte is 2 to the 40th power bytes.
Licensee must obtain sufficient entitlements required for licensee's environment.
The entitlements are specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged,
or aggregated with entitlements of another program.
Instead of the entitlements required for the program directly, licensee
must obtain terabyte entitlements for this program sufficient to cover the
storage managed by the program.
These metrics apply to the IBM Information Archive software license
and the IBM Information
Archive Index and Search feature software license.
Pricing example
Entitlement for IBM Information Archive V2.1 is on a per terabyte (TB)
basis. The entitlement is based on the total storage managed by IBM Information
Archive.
The following example is provided to illustrate your licensing requirements.
The customer has IBM Information Archive with a total of 72 TB of storage
managed as follows:
- One file archive collection, also known as Network Attached Storage (NAS)
collection, with 35 TB of storage
- One System
Storage® Archive Manager (SSAM) collection with 37 TB of storage
The customer will require the following entitlements for the IBM Information
Archive base license.
TB tiers Number of TB entitlements required
1-12 12
13-32 20
33-64 32
65-100 8
101-250 0
251 + 0
Total entitlements
required 72
In addition, the customer wants to use the IBM Information Archive Index and Search
feature, which supports the file archive collection only. Entitlement for
the Index and Search feature is on a per TB basis. The TB entitlement for
the one file archive collection, also known as Network Attached Storage (NAS)
collection, is 35 TB of storage.
To enable the Index and Search feature for the file archive collection,
the customer will require the following entitlements for the Index and Search
feature.

Basic license
Order handling
IBM Information
Archive V2.1 (5608-W01) will be ordered through existing channels using the
existing configurator and ordering tools. However, the fulfillment processes
have been modified to improve customer records management associated with
Software Subscription and Support (SW S&S), often referred to as Software
Maintenance. SW S&S will be entitled through Passport Advantage or Passport
Advantage Express.
5608-W01, when selected during the configuration process with each hardware
system, will be enabled for the system unit for which the product was ordered.
Optionally, software and license only configurations can be created for 5608-W01
based on existing supported hardware system units in your business environment.
After receipt of an order, you will be required to register for, and accept, Passport
Advantage or Passport Advantage Express terms and conditions.
Passport
Advantage allows greater flexibility to help you manage software licenses
and Subscription and Support renewals. You can now have a common anniversary
date for Subscription and Support renewals. The anniversary date, established
at the order ship date for the initial product acquisition, will remain unchanged
while your Passport
Advantage or Passport Advantage Express agreement remains in effect.
Your PoE for IBM Information
Archive V2.1 is a copy of a paid sales receipt from IBM or its authorized reseller from whom
you acquired the program, provided that it states the license charge unit
(the characteristics of intended use of the program; for example, number of
TB) and quantity acquired.
IBM Information
Archive V2.1 is available in English only. It is preloaded on the IBM Information
Archive hardware system. IBM Information Archive V2.1 is not available via electronic
download and media is not separately orderable.
However, the IBM Information
Archive V2.1 Index and Search feature is available preloaded on the IBM Information
Archive hardware system (2231-IA3) and also via electronic download.
To order a basic license, specify the program number
and the applicable cumulative tier one-time charge feature numbers for the
quantity desired (maximum quantity of 250).
The quantity to be specified for the feature numbers in the following tables
is per terabyte.

IBM has
transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help
you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a web-enabled
solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the
service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed
to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem
resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate,
but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic
Services Agent.
The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that
replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services
and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources
for assistance in resolving technical problems.
The Electronic
Service Agent is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server.
It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic,
client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically
reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to
deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and
performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent
is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer
your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic
Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service
for your IBM server.
