The content of IBM® Rational® development software in IBM i 6.1 1/2-core
Power editions (9407-M25 - 6761, 6762, 6763, and 6766), and in Two-core and
Four-core Power editions (8203-E4A - 9635, 9636, 9637, 9638, 9639, 9640, and
9643) is enhanced with additional software features at an attractive price.
In addition to the ILE Compilers feature, all the features in WebSphere® Development
Studio for i 6.1 are now included in these editions. These features include:
- ILE compilers
- ILE RPG
- ILE RPG *PRV Compiler
- ILE COBOL
- ILE COBOL *PRV Compiler
- ILE C
- ILE C++
- IXLC for C/C++
- Heritage compilers
- S/36 Compatible RPG II

- Application Development ToolSet
Additionally, IBM Rational Developer for i for SOA Construction V7.1
replaces IBM Rational Developer
for i V7.1.
IBM Rational Developer
for i for SOA Construction is a strategic IBM offering. The product includes the following
key features:
- Provides an Eclipse-based integrated development environment for creating
Web and traditional i applications
- Includes IBM Rational Business
Developer V7.1, which comes with the Enterprise Generation Language (EGL)
programming language, providing advanced Web 2.0 capabilities
- Can help you build innovative rich Web applications, and user interfaces,
allowing you to link to the backend RPG, COBOL, and EGL business applications
- Helps to simplify and accelerate the development of service oriented
architecture (SOA) applications, modernize legacy systems, and reduce development
costs
If you acquire these editions, you are entitled to three Named user licenses
for each of the features in WebSphere Development Studio for i 6.1, and three
Authorized user licenses for IBM Rational Developer for i for SOA Construction.
Effective November 25, 2008, you have the option to remove any or all of
the WebSphere Development
Studio for i features, and/or IBM Rational Developer for i for SOA Construction.
You can also substitute IBM Rational Developer for i for SOA Construction with IBM Rational Developer
for i. Regardless whether you choose to do the removal or substitution, the
remaining WebSphere Development
Studio for i features and IBM Rational Developer for i will revert back from the
initial discounted prices to the full prices.
The other content in the existing editions remains the same.
