IBM Information Server is a revolutionary new software platform that helps organizations derive more
value from the complex, heterogeneous information spread across their systems. It provides
breakthrough collaboration, productivity, and performance for cleansing, transforming, and moving
this information consistently and securely throughout the enterprise. It can then be accessed and
used in new ways to drive innovation, increase operational efficiency, and lower risk.
To ensure closer alignment with advancing processor technologies and to make Information Server
packaging more intuitive and flexible, IBM is implementing the following changes to IBM Information
Server and IBM Information Server for Linux™ on System z™ licensing policies for all new
licenses:

Processor Value Unit (PVU) licensing replaces existing "Base Plus" processor licensing terms.

Multiple IBM Information Server products, previously licensed in packs of multiple users, are now
available as single-user licenses.
-
IBM Information Server product module licenses no longer carry bundled entitlements to any other
Information Server products.
-
IBM Information Server Business Glossary Anywhere is now licensed under PVU terms.
In addition, IBM WebSphere® Metadata Server, which was previously an integrated part of
Information Server, is no longer a licensable component.
IBM is also announcing new part numbers for IBM Information Server for Linux on System z and other
information integration products running on Linux for System z.

To ensure closer alignment with advancing processor technologies and to make Information Server
packaging more intuitive and flexible, the following changes are being made to IBM Information
Server and IBM Information Server for Linux on System z licensing policies:
Processor Value Unit (PVU) licensing
The PVU licensing metric will replace the existing "Base Plus" licensing model for all relevant
Information Server products.
The PVU licensing structure enables a sustainable framework for licensing software on new processor
technologies. Under the PVU licensing structure, you will license software based on the number of
Processor Value Units assigned to each processor core in the computing environment on which the
software is installed.
Each Information Server module that is licensed in PVU terms will carry a unique price per Processor
Value Unit. To determine the total cost of every Information Server product module, you multiply
the product module's price per Processor Value Unit by the total number of PVU entitlements
required.
No product-specific restriction on initial license
Licensing Information Server modules in PVU terms will allow you to license Information Server
product modules at the level of an individual processor core. Therefore, there will no longer be
any restrictions applicable to Information Server product modules on minimum processor cores
licensed. Instead, you will have the flexibility to license Information Server product modules for
deployment on any quantity and any configuration of processor cores with licensing determined by
processor family (vendor and brand) type and number of processor cores.
No separate license required for IBM WebSphere Metadata Server
Information Server customers are no longer required to separately license IBM WebSphere Metadata
Server. IBM WebSphere Metadata Server will no longer be orderable as a separate Information Server
product module. IBM WebSphere Metadata Server functionality will be integral to all applicable
Information Server products.
No bundled entitlements within base product license
To simplify Information Server packaging, no additional entitlements will be bundled within the
product license of individual Information Server product modules. You can now obtain a specific
number of entitlements required for your implementation using the individual product licenses.
Single-user client licenses
Several Information Server products that were previously licensed in packs of multiple users are now
available as single-user licenses. These include IBM WebSphere DataStage and QualityStage Designer
Client, IBM WebSphere Information Analyzer Workbench, the authoring license of IBM WebSphere
Business Glossary, and Metadata Workbench. You can now obtain the specific number of entitlements
required for your implementation.
IBM WebSphere Business Glossary and Information Services Director licensing
IBM WebSphere Business Glossary and IBM WebSphere Information Services Director will no longer
require reference-based licensing with IBM WebSphere Metadata Server. In the future, consistent
with other IBM software products, these will need to be licensed on PVUs.
Licensing metric for IBM Information Business Glossary Anywhere
The licensing metric associated with IBM Information Server Business Glossary Anywhere has been
changed from a per server metric to PVU metric.
Changes to Base Plus software entitlements
The IBM software products listed at the end of this section are now offered under Processor Value
Unit licensing. These products, previously licensed for deployment on a minimum set of processors,
are now offered under a PVU licensing metric in which applicable license fees scale based on the
processor family (vendor and brand) and number of processor cores.
License entitlements
Existing license entitlements will not be affected. Your current license terms will remain in
effect as acquired through Passport Advantage®.
Software Subscription and Support entitlements
For customers with Subscription and Support renewal anniversary dates on or before November 30,
2008, your current Subscription and Support terms will remain in effect until expiration of the
coverage period. For customers with Subscription and Support renewal anniversary dates on or after
December 1, 2008, new Subscription and Support renewals for the products listed at the end of this
section will be quoted based on Processor Value Units. If your Subscription and Support expires on
or after December 1, 2008, IBM will make a good faith effort to contact you to determine your
Subscription and Support entitlements under the PVU metric.
IBM will contact current Information Server customers via correspondence, telephone, or through
other means to request an inventory of processor cores on which Information Server product modules
are installed. Customers will be asked to provide the inventory within 30 days following the
initial request.
If IBM is unable to determine the appropriate Subscription and Support entitlement quantities prior
to Subscription and Support renewal, IBM will issue a quotation that may not properly reflect the
actual required Subscription and Support entitlement quantities. This could result in either excess
entitlements quoted or in a compliance gap that will require rectification. Customers continue to
be responsible for ensuring that they have the appropriate number of Subscription and Support
entitlements.

Under the PVU licensing structure, each processor core is assigned a
specific number of PVUs. Clients must acquire the total number of PVUs
for each processor core on which the software programs are deployed. IBM
continues to define a processor as each processor core on a chip. For
example, a dual-core chip contains two processor cores.
Each IBM Information Server product module that is licensed in PVU terms
carries a unique price per PVU. To determine the total cost of deploying
a software component, multiply the program price per PVU by the total
number of PVUs required.

IPLA and Subscription and Support considerations
IPLA licenses can be transferred from one machine to another within, but
not limited to, an enterprise. You may aggregate the capacity for all
the processors on which the software is operated. This will result in a
single Proof of Entitlement (PoE). It is your responsibility to manage
the distribution of Value Units within the limits of the entitlement of
your product license and subscription and support.
Subscription and support must align with you product license entitlement.
Subscription and support will be available in the country in which the
agreement is made.

Hardware requirements
The exact configuration you need to support your environment with satisfactory processing time will
vary depending on multiple factors. Processing times vary depending on server speed, memory, and
network and server workload. The listed minimum recommended configurations listed below need to be
evaluated and adjusted according to your unique requirements. Disk space recommendations are for
the product installation and working space only. The actual hard disk space required varies,
depending upon your installation. Refer to the

Charge metrics definitions
Processor Value Unit
"Processor Value Unit" (PVU) is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. PVU
entitlements are based on processor families (vendors and brands). A Proof of Entitlement (PoE)
must be obtained for the appropriate number of PVUs based on the level or tier of all processor
cores activated and available for use by the program on the server.
Some programs allow licensing to less than the full capacity of the server's activated processor
cores — sometimes referred to as sub-capacity licensing. For programs that offer Sub-Capacity
licensing, if a server is partitioned utilizing eligible partitioning technologies, a PoE must be
obtained for the appropriate number of PVUs based on all activated processor cores available for use
in each partition where the program runs or is managed by the program.
Refer to the International Passport Advantage Agreement Attachment for Sub-Capacity Terms or the
program's License Information to determine applicable sub-capacity terms. The PVU entitlements are
specific to the program and may not be exchanged, interchanged, or aggregated with PVU entitlements
of another program.

Server
"Server" is the unit of measure by which this program is licensed. A
server is a computer system that executes requested procedures, commands,
or applications to one or more user or client devices. A Proof of
Entitlement (PoE) must be obtained for each server regardless of the
number of processor cores and/or partitions in the server on which the
program runs or each server managed by the program. Where blade
technology is employed, each blade is considered a separate server.
Concurrent user
"Concurrent user" is the unit of measure by which this program is
licensed. A concurrent user is a shared user access to the program
within or outside of your enterprise. The program may be installed on
only one computer or one server. The total number of concurrent users
simultaneously accessing the program at any moment in time may not exceed
the highest number of concurrent users authorized by the PoE. You must
have an entitlement for each concurrent user simultaneously accessing the
program or any program component in any manner directly or indirectly
(for example, via a multiplexing program, device, or application server)
through any means.
Authorized user
"Authorized user" is the unit of measure by which this program is
licensed. An authorized user is an individual (named or unnamed) within
or outside of your enterprise. The program may be installed on one or
more computers or servers and may be accessed by the number of users
authorized by the PoE. You must have an entitlement for each authorized
user accessing the program or any program component in any manner
directly or indirectly (for example, via a multiplexing program, device,
or application server) through any means.

Sub-capacity for selected middleware products
Sub-capacity licensing on a per processor or per Value Unit basis is available for selected
middleware products. To offer sub-capacity licensing, IBM software products implement IBM Tivoli®
License Compliance Manager within their offerings so that you can monitor and report quarterly to
IBM on the use of the programs on a continuous basis.

Eligibility requirements for sub-capacity licensing
To be eligible for sub-capacity licensing terms on this product, you must
agree to install and configure IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM
Software, in accordance with the IBM Tivoli License Manager publications,
and to enable the collection of program use data on all eligible machines
subject to sub-capacity terms.
For those machines running programs with sub-capacity licensing terms,
you must use IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software to monitor
program use and submit to IBM an IBM Use Report each calendar quarter.
Multiple copies of IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software or IBM
Tivoli License Manager are not required. You can use more copies if you
need them to support your operational environment, but only one copy is
required to monitor all your sub-capacity licensed products.
Additionally, if this is the first product you have licensed under
sub-capacity terms, you must agree to the terms of an attachment to your
Passport Advantage or Passport Advantage Express contract and submit a
new Passport Advantage enrollment form. First-time sub capacity clients
also have an opportunity to ensure a primary business contact is
established for their contracts.

If you order (this product) under sub-capacity terms, IBM Tivoli License
Manager for IBM Software will be made available to you if you do not
already have one. You must install and configure this tool for your
sub-capacity products. Alternately, you can use Tivoli License Manager.
Once the license manager software is installed, you will be required to
register online (IBM may need to contact you in order to finalize the
registration process.) You must monitor program use on a continuous basis
with an IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software and submit IBM Use
Reports to IBM on a calendar quarterly basis.

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified
operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The
warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does
not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation of the program or that
IBM will correct all program defects. You are responsible for the
results obtained from the use of the program.
IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on
known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at
no additional charge. Consult the IBM Software Support Guide for further

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the
original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).
Money-back guarantee:
If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are
the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for
it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its
PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the

IBM Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance (Z125-6011)
These programs are licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement
(IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software
Maintenance, which provide for support with ongoing access to releases
and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software
Maintenance with the initial license acquisition of each program
acquired. The initial period of Software Maintenance can be extended by
the purchase of a renewal option, if available.
These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and
an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes
telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business
hours) as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the
program as long as support is in effect.
Software maintenance applies:
Yes. Software Maintenance is included with licenses purchased
through Passport Advantage and Passport Advantage Express. Product
upgrades and technical support are provided by the Software Maintenance
offering as described in the Agreements. Product upgrades provide the
latest versions and releases to entitled software and Technical Support
provides voice and electronic access to IBM support organizations,
worldwide.
IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with each program license

While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance
for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to)
questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via
telephone and, if available, electronic access, to your IS technical
support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift
hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to
your end users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, 7

Software Maintenance does not include assistance for the design and
development of applications, your use of programs in other than their
specified operating environment, or failures caused by products for which
IBM is not responsible under the applicable agreements.
