Description

The EXP 12S is a rack-mountable expansion cabinet that can be attached to IBM System host servers built with POWER6 technology.

The following SAS cable families can be used with the SAS Disk Drawer:

  • SAS Cables (YO): These cables provide connection between a SAS controller adapter in a host system or remote I/O drawer and the first SAS disk drawer attached to the adapter port. These cables provide a single initiator, dual-path configuration. A second SAS disk drawer can be attached to the first SAS disk drawer using two SAS Cables (EE).
  • SAS Cables (YI) (not offered as a feature with #5886): These cables provide connection between a native Mini SAS 4x port on selected POWER™ processor-based servers and a SAS disk drawer. When using this cable, only one SAS disk drawer can be attached to the native port. A second SAS disk drawer cannot be attached to the first SAS disk drawer. These SAS Cables (YI) are sold as features of the host systems that provide this native SAS port.
  • SAS Cables (EE): These cables provide connection between the first SAS disk drawer attached to a SAS controller adapter and a second SAS disk drawer. These cables connect the first drawer to the second drawer. When using SAS cables (EE), they must always be used in pairs, requiring the purchase of two SAS Cable (EE) features.
