Overview

The ThinkVantage™ Rescue and Recovery™ tool helps you reduce the time, effort, and expense required to recover from a variety of system issues such as worms, viruses, and operating system corruption. It features a pre-operating system enhanced support environment that offers:

  • System information
  • File rescue
  • Browser access
  • Full system recovery options, including recovery to a previously saved state

ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery can help to significantly reduce costs associated with recovery and support, and improve user productivity. Antidote Delivery Manager, a part of Rescue and Recovery, can deliver critical updates to the system, even corrupted systems or those not on the corporate network. It can also ensure that users who restore to previous backups are brought up to the latest patch level, preserving IT policies.

The latest release of ThinkVantage Rescue and Recovery offers a simplified interface for easy access to the most common features. Also included in this release is Express Repair, a much faster recovery option is integrated that tracks key files and can repair them quickly when a user invokes Rescue and Recovery at startup. This saves significant time compared to other recovery options.

Lenovo™ ThinkVantage Technologies are integrated with Microsoft® Windows Vista® to give users the best possible computing experience by running the new operating system on Lenovo PCs. ThinkVantage technologies, a suite of PC productivity tools, extend the performance and capabilities of Windows Vista to empower users with improved system efficiency and user experience. They also help to reduce PC lifecycle costs.

The software delivered for non-Lenovo system licenses contains the same functions as those delivered for ThinkPad® and ThinkCentre® systems. Features such as preboot, and others may not work on the OEM version. Customers may prefer to build enterprise standard images with the non-Lenovo version of software. The software will then detect the hardware and install accordingly. Where there is functionality that is dependent on hardware capabilities not present, these functions will be unavailable.

Software specific to and included with or downloaded for ThinkPad or ThinkCentre systems will only install on these systems. The non-Lenovo software version will install both on non-Lenovo and Lenovo systems. Where licenses are included with the purchase of the Lenovo system (refer to the respective Lenovo system announcement material) there is no need to purchase a separate license.

Lenovo recommends the purchase of a small quantity of licenses for the purpose of testing or piloting in their network environment and on their particular hardware before purchasing licenses for enterprise rollout.
