Description

.

Lenovo combines thoughtful engineering with bold design, delivering systems that help lower your total cost of ownership.

  • Lenovo password management is easy to use. It enables secure access to your system as well as your Web pages. It is also integrated with the fingerprint reader available on many Lenovo systems.
  • Lenovo systems include a fully integrated recovery environment that works even when the operating system is not working.
  • Lenovo systems manage everything that changes when your location changes, not just your Internet connection.

Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook

Executive support staff: A member of your specially trained support staff will answer your calls 24 hours a day, no matter where in the world you call from. There are no answering machines and no phone menus.

  • Personal welcome service.

At your discretion, your support staff will assist you in customizing your personal settings, optimizing system and security features, and migrating information from your old computer.

  • Fast and convenient on-site support.

In most major cities throughout the world, on-site warranty service is available within four hours. In most other locations, on-site service is provided by the end of the next business day. This is conveniently included for three years from time of purchase.

  • Blue-button instant access.

You may prefer to work with your support staff via instant messaging, even allowing them to share your desktop remotely during advanced support activities — any time and anywhere you have Internet access, at the touch of a button.

  • Absolute confidentiality.

Your information is safest with you. Lenovo will never ask you to part with your hard drive. Your support staff can even help you configure automated backup and archiving features to keep your personal information secure.

  • Accidental damage protection.

Reduce downtime and unexpected expenses associated with repairing or replacing accidentally damaged IT components.

  • Proactive maintenance and tune-up.

Your executive support staff will schedule routine maintenance, at your convenience, to keep your Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition operating at peak performance.

Processor technology: Intel Core 2 Duo processor L7500

Data protection: Integrated fingerprint reader technology from ThinkVantage technologies to help protect access to your ThinkPad notebook and data.

  • Because fingerprints are unique, using them along with other security measures can provide strong security.
  • Fingerprint reader is built right into the palm rest area of the computer. When used with Password Manager and the Client Security Solution, pass your finger over the reader instead of typing passwords or combine it with passwords.
  • Combine the integrated fingerprint reader with Password Manager and the Client Security Solution for strong security measures that are easy to follow. Security software is preloaded for an integrated solution out of the box.
  • Administrators can implement strong security policies and users can meet ongoing password requirements easily.

Data security: New 32-byte HDD password, together with the ability to disable all input and output ports on a BIOS level, guarantees that information that is meant to be private stays private whether the threat comes from within or outside the company.

LCD TFT display: The Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Edition notebook includes a 307.3-mm (12.1-in) TFT display with 1024 x 768 resolution UltraLight panel.

Keyboard and TrackPoint® with enhanced features: The keyboard has the familiar layout and quality of a ThinkPad notebook with function keys that allow you to quickly access system functions such as power management control.

You can use any of three new key combinations to easily manage your ThinkPad system:

  • Fn + F5 for wireless radio control
  • Fn + F7 for Presentation Director to toggle through different displays and adjust resolutions
  • Fn + F9 for Easy Eject to seamlessly remove add-on peripherals such as a memory key

Each of these quick key combinations launches a menu that assists you in using ThinkPad innovations.

The TrackPoint with enhanced features incorporates the press-to-select and release-to-select function.

Just tap the TrackPoint to speed icon launches and help reduce keystrokes. The programmable center button enables fast scrolling of Web sites (requires Internet access; not included) and documents or fast panning across wide spreadsheets. Switch to the innovative magnifying glass feature to enlarge screen views in any application. Selected models include integrated fingerprint reader technology.

3
The maximum speed depends on the access point device and the number of integrated antenna used for connection to Wireless Broadband data service. Lenovo customers must contact the wireless broadband service provider after purchase to activate service. A separate service contract is required; monthly service charges and airtime charges will apply. Roaming charges may also apply. The wireless broadband service provider, not Lenovo, is solely responsible for the wireless data service. Service is not available in all areas. Actual throughput speeds may vary.
4
Activating Verizon Wireless Service: Lenovo customers will be contacted after purchase to activate service; requires separate agreement with Verizon Wireless and is subject to the Customer Agreement, Calling Plan, and credit approval. Service and airtime charges will apply; $175 early termination fee. Verizon Wireless, not Lenovo, is solely responsible for service. Lenovo notebooks announced April 2007, or after, have a new 64-bit architecture.

The standard memory can be expanded to 3 or 4 GB of addressable memory, depending on whether the operating system is a 32- or 64-bit operating system. The new notebooks with a Windows Vista 32-bit or previous Windows 32-bit operating system can support up to 3 GB of addressable memory. The new notebooks with a Windows Vista 64-bit operating system can support up to 4 GB of addressable memory.

Recommended for memory expansion are 512 MB, 1 GB, and 2 GB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667 MHz SO DIMM.

11
For PCs without a separate video card, memory supports both system and video. Accessible system memory is up to 256 MB less than the amount stated, depending on video mode.
12

Warranty period

  • System hardware — Three years on parts and labor

Warranty service: If required, your service provider provides repair or exchange service depending on the type of warranty service specified for the machine. A service technician will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone. You must follow the problem determination and resolution procedures. Scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call and is subject to parts availability. Service levels are response time objectives and are not guaranteed. The specified level of warranty service may not be available in all worldwide locations. Additional charges may apply outside your service provider's normal service area. Contact your local service provider representative or your reseller for country- and location-specific information.

Customer replaceable unit (CRU) service: Under CRU service, your service provider will ship CRUs to you for you to install. Most CRUs are easy to install whereas others may require some technical skills and tools. CRU information and replacement instructions are shipped with the product and are available from Lenovo at any time upon request. You may request that a service provider install some CRUs under one of the other types of warranty service designated for your product. Installation of external CRUs (such as mice, keyboards, or monitors) is your responsibility. Lenovo specifies in the materials shipped with a replacement CRU whether the defective CRU must be returned. When a return is required, return instructions, a prepaid return shipping label, and a container are included with the replacement CRU. You may be charged for the replacement CRU if your service provider does not receive the defective CRU within 30 days of your receipt of the replacement.

On-site service: Your service provider will either repair or exchange the failing machine at your location and verify its operation. You must provide suitable working area to allow disassembly and reassembly of the machine. The area must be clean, well lit and suitable for the purpose. For some machines, certain repairs may require sending the machine to a designated service center.

International Warranty Service (IWS): IWS is available during the warranty period to customers who travel or relocate to countries where their computer is sold and serviced by a service provider authorized to perform warranty service. Eligible Lenovo computers are identified by their four-digit machine type.

You can obtain IWS through the method of service, such as CRU, depot, carry-in, or on-site, provided in the servicing country. Service methods and procedures vary by country, and some service or parts may not be available in all countries. Service centers in certain countries may not be able to service all models of a particular machine type. In addition, some countries may have fees and restrictions that apply at the time of service.

Note: Due to the earth's magnetic field, CRT monitors are manufactured to work in northern, southern, and equatorial regions of the earth and may not produce a satisfactory image when moved between them. Any required adjustment (if possible) is not covered under IWS and may be subject to a chargeable action. The magnetic field does not affect flat-panel LCD monitors and ThinkPad LCD displays.
