IBM continues to demonstrate its commitment to openness at the operating system level by expanding preinstall options to include Microsoft™ Windows Embedded POSReady 7 for selected models of the SurePOS 300. IBM recommends Windows Embedded POSReady offerings as the preferred Windows OS for the point-of-sale environment. POSReady 7 now joins POSReady 2009 as a preferred Windows OS option for the SurePOS 300 Models E40 and E4A.

IBM continues to support the retailer's operating system of choice. This includes IBM 4690 OS, SUSE Linux™ Enterprise Point of Service 11, Microsoft Windows Embedded POSReady 2009, and Microsoft Windows 7 Professional.

The compact and energy-efficient Models E40 and E4A feature the lowest price point of currently available SurePOS 300 models. The new optional upgrade for Models E40 and E4A includes Microsoft Windows Embedded POSReady 7 preinstalled on the hard drive.
