WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance V2.1 is designed for simple installation and use within a broad context of environments, including deep integration with WebSphere Application Server V6.1, V7.0, V8.0, and V8.5 as well as simple support for non-WebSphere Application Server and non-Java environments through Representational State Transfer (REST) APIs. WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance has fault tolerance and a large 240 GB cache that can help achieve better performance and scalability than the dynamic cache service of WebSphere Application Server.
WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance V2.1 offers:
Multiple data center support
WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance V2.1 now supports topologies that span multiple data centers with collective linking. Clustering and load balancing help improve the scalability and availability of services within your topology. When applied to applications housed in an application server such as WebSphere, these techniques can process more overall throughput and provide improved availability of the overall application.
WebSphere stack integration support
WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance V2.1 supports:
Improved usability and monitoring
WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance V2.1 helps make monitoring your data grid easier. SNMP traps enable notifications to administrators when specific conditions are met within the data grid, such as when a grid is nearing capacity limits. With the improved console, administrators can now inspect actual data grid contents. With WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance V2.1, you can script command-line instructions. The new log analysis tool gives you a consolidated view of troubleshooting messages and recommended corrective actions.
WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance V2.1 supports IPv6 and can improve performance with new link aggregation capabilities to harness the bandwidth of multiple network interface cards. Link aggregation also provides better quality of service and high availability by routing around the failed network card.
Spring 3.1 Cache provider support
WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance V2.1 enables Spring cache to develop and maintain Java Spring applications to transparently add your XC10 cache to an existing application with minimal impact to your code.
HTTP session replication
WebSphere DataPower XC10 Appliance can provide a quick, noninvasive option for handling HTTP session management. This can remove the need for costly application changes. This specialized, purpose-built appliance offers benefits that include higher qualities of service across scenarios spanning application server cell boundaries as well as heterogeneous application server environments.
Extension for WebSphere Application Server dynamic cache service
DataPower XC10 Appliance provides a consistent, distributed cache for enterprise applications running on WebSphere Application Server. The dynamic cache API is available to Java Platform Enterprise Edition (Java EE) applications that are deployed in WebSphere Application Server. The dynamic cache API can be used to cache business data, generate HTML, or to synchronize the cached data in the cell by using the data replication service (DRS). Previously, the only service provider for the dynamic cache API was the default dynamic cache engine built into WebSphere Application Server.
With the DataPower XC10 Appliance, you can now use the dynamic cache service provider interface in WebSphere Application Server to plug into the dynamic cache. By setting up this interface, you can enable applications written with the dynamic cache API or applications using container-level caching (such as servlets) to use the features and performance capabilities of the DataPower XC10 Appliance, including replication over the network, high availability, scalability, and cache partitioning.
Elastic dynamic cache (plug-in for WebSphere Application Server dynamic cache service) enables more efficient storage of data in a grid rather than multiple redundant copies that are difficult to keep synchronized. This includes applications for WebSphere Commerce V6.1 and V7.0 as well as WebSphere Portal V7.0 where the dynamic cache plug-in is used.
Each DataPower XC10 Appliance unit offers a large 240 GB cache that you can access using a network connection. This can:
