Kenexa Learning Content Management System (LCMS) Premier on Cloud and (LCMS) Premier V12.0

A number of enhancements improve the overall usability of the LCMS portal and Kenexa Content Manager user interfaces. These changes help simplify authoring tasks and help improve the consistency of content developed and managed within LCMS.

  • New My Stuff structure view: A new structure view is added to the Kenexa Content Manager authoring environment that lets a content developer filter the list of objects displayed to include only those objects which they created.
  • Progress Indicators: Improvements to the user interfaces (UIs) indicate the status of a media upload or other long running tasks to include a percentage indicator reflecting how much of the task process remains to be completed. This indicator helps assure the user that the process is still progressing and not stuck.
  • Configurable Object Name Masks: This release introduces the ability to define configurable input masks for object names that ensure consistency in naming of content objects within the LCMS repository.
  • Displaying selected Viewer and Theme in Preview: Preview panes is enhanced to indicate to the user which Viewer and Theme are in use for the current preview.
  • Exports within Kenexa Content Manager lets users select multiple publishing profiles at once. This simplifies the process when the same course structure is published, using, for example, different Viewers, Themes, and Personalization Profiles.
  • The review commenting and approval process now prompts reviewers to save comments before leaving a page and lets authors accept multiple suggested changes in a single action. These changes help ensure suggestions are not lost during entry and the suggestions can be implemented if approved by the author.
  • The user search in task assignment adds the user name to the search results in addition to the user ID, helping to ensure that tasks are assigned to the correct users.
  • The LCMS portal remembers the user's selection of a Theme and filters applied to Member Management search so that they can be used when the user logs in again in the future.

Additional Kenexa LCMS Express component capabilities

A number of enhancements are added to Kenexa LCMS Express content contribution experience. These changes include more flexibility with content types, improvements to the collaboration process between Kenexa Content Manager and Kenexa LCMS Express, and general usability.

  • Configuration files can be edited to change simple branding characteristics of Kenexa LCMS Express UI, including colors and background images.
  • With Kenexa LCMS Express and Kenexa Content Manager, content can be authored in one UI to be shared with users of the other UI. These changes help better support scenarios where business level subject matter experts contribute content, through Kenexa LCMS Express, that can then be refined by content developers using Kenexa Content Manager.
  • Helping to provide better collaboration between Kenexa LCMS Express users and Kenexa Content Manager users, the Content type palate for Kenexa LCMS Express provides better parity with those in Kenexa Content Manager, as well as providing a more seamless experience for authoring lists and tables in Kenexa LCMS Express.
  • Preview in Kenexa LCMS Express now launches separately in a full sized browser tab rather than a smaller dialog window. Displaying a full preview makes it easier for a user of Kenexa LCMS Express to verify how their content will look to a learner.

Enhancement to assessment capabilities

A number of changes provide additional capabilities to assessments and more consistent behaviors between dynamically delivered assessments and those exported to static formats, such as SCORM or HTML.

  • For both Dynamic deliver and static Export, Kenexa LCMS supports the use of feedback in assessment elements when used as practice questions outside of a formal assessment.
  • Static exports to SCORM and HTML now support Question pooling and shuffling.
  • Renderings for Assessment Element types, such as Multiple Choice, enable viewers to display visual feedback of right and wrong answers.
  • Assessment reporting provides additional details about student's answers in an assessment. In addition to providing a student's highest score for an assessment, the text of the question as well as whether the student got the question correct or not can be displayed. These additional details about how students responded to specific questions in an exam help content developers better evaluate the quality of courses and their associated assessments.

Additional video-based content elements

New content elements simplify the use of video-based media within LCMS content in both Kenexa Content Manager and the Kenexa LCMS Express component. While the existing base media element can still be used to deliver video content, the new, simple video element provides a much more direct experience for adding those videos to content.

Kenexa Learning Content Management System (LCMS) Premier V11.1

  • Improved screening of content to prevent the introduction of HTML and JavaScript in authored content that could exploit cross site scripting techniques, which helps improve security within applications and data centers.
  • Updated Yahoo User Interface Library (YUI) and jQuery libraries to provide better support for current web and browser standards. Kenexa LCMS Premier V11.1 uses current versions of YUI3 as well as jQuery version 3.1.1.
  • Enhanced web and browser standards support through support for Microsoft Windows Server 2016 and Microsoft SQL Server 2016.

Additional rendering options for table elements

A new rendering provides additional support options for responsively natured content displayed in a viewer, such as the Chameleon Viewer. The new rendering allows you to scroll through table content by column on smaller size displays as opposed to rending that stacks cells on the smaller sized screens.

Enhancements to Aviation Industry Computer-Based Training Committee (AICC) scoring and Experience API (xAPI) support

  • Enhanced AICC scoring algorithms to help provide better support of status updates based on both scored assessments and viewed pages
  • Expanded support of xAPI by adding additional events, including direct content launch, as triggers for xAPI statements

To help provide more complete and fluid collaboration between Subject Matter Experts using the Kenexa LCMS Express component and formal instructional designers using the Kenexa LCMS Premier authoring interface, Kenexa LCMS Premier V11.1 adds a change to the process of publishing and sharing content authored in Kenexa LCMS Express. With this change, the existing option to prepublish a course is renamed to share, reflecting the intended purpose of this action.

Kenexa Learning Content Management System (LCMS) Premier V10.1 and Kenexa Learning Content Management System (LCMS) Premier on Cloud

Easier integration with other components of the training and learning ecosystem:

  • Standardized support for Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) single sign-on (SSO) integration where Kenexa LCMS Premier acts as a service provider. This support can help simplify the integration effort in any environment that has a SAML 2.0 compliant service provider.
  • Support for bulk user imports of user metadata so files of multiple user updates from IBM Kenexa Learning Management System (LMS) or other user management sources can now include user metadata that can be used to drive the personalized delivery of content. This can help provide a more seamless integration between Kenexa LCMS Premier and Kenexa LMS or another portal used to launch content. This allows the learner to have a highly personalized experience by seeing the right content for their needs.
  • Import of bulk media can now be supported through integration with a digital access management platform or other external repository. These changes allow an API to be used to upload a zip file of media objects and associated metadata tags using Kenexa LCMS Extensible Markup Language (XML) schema in order to manage a new import task so you can add those assets to the Kenexa LCMS media repository. This can help simplify the process of synchronizing single sourced Kenexa LCMS content with an external media repository while helping to ensure the accuracy of the content delivered to learners.
