Abstract

Across industries, the workload of legal, procurement, and regulatory professionals is growing and becoming increasingly more complex. This results in growing maintenance and compliance costs. IBM Watson Compare & Comply augments human intelligence by extracting the semantics within governing documents, such as contracts and regulations, and can help these professionals better understand them -- making them more effective and efficient. It can do this by quickly identifying the responsible parties, types of actions required and categories included in their governing documents, improving their ability to do analysis and reviews.

In bringing this new offering to Cloud Private, IBM allows enterprises to bring Watson to where their data is and use Watson Compare and Comply: Element Classification in a way that enterprises are familiar and comfortable with by respecting the security measures and controls they have in place over their applications and data. Whether set up by your own in-house experts or complemented by IBM's team of experts, we have a pre-trained and tailorable solution to meet their needs.

With the addition of Watson Compare and Comply: Element Classification on IBM Cloud Private, you can enhance your journey towards building an application that allows documents to be unlocked, action plans to be analyzed, regulations and rules to be followed.

IBM Cloud Private is an integrated IaaS and PaaS environment for developing and managing on-premises, containerized applications. This integrated environment can be deployed behind firewalls and managed or controlled by whomever the enterprise determines. It is built on the container orchestrator Kubernetes, and contains a private image repository, a management console, and monitoring frameworks. With a lightweight footprint, yet powerful platform capabilities, IBM Cloud Private allows enterprises to unleash their development creativity, using industry-common technologies and process guidance, in a minimal timeframe.

Description

Watson Compare and Comply: Element Classification on IBM Cloud Private makes it possible to rapidly parse through governing documents to convert, identify, and classify elements of importance. Using advanced natural language processing, party (who it refers to), nature (type of element), and category are extracted from elements of a document.

Watson Compare and Comply: Element Classification on IBM Cloud Private is designed to provide:

  • The ability to convert programmatic PDF to annotated JavaScript Object Notation (JSON)
  • Identification of legal entities and categories that align with subject matter expertise

Watson Compare and Comply: Element Classification on IBM Cloud Private brings together a functionally rich set of integrated, automated Watson APIs. It inputs a programmatic PDF to identify sections, lists (numbered and bulleted), footnotes, and tables, and converts these items into a structured HTML format. This structured format is annotated and output as JSON with labeled elements, types, and categories.
