Abstract

The IBM FlashSystem A9000 integrates the highly parallel architecture, comprehensive data reduction, and extreme performance of IBM FlashCore technology into one powerful, 8U storage solution designed for the cloud-scale business. It is built to accelerate workloads and help reduce costs, increase revenue, meet SLAs, and improve customer satisfaction. IBM FlashCore technology, which delivers market-leading storage response times for data-intensive workloads, forms the all-flash foundation of IBM FlashSystem A9000. Integrated, software-defined capabilities, including advanced data reduction and critical cloud features such as QoS, optimize storage economics and simplify management.

Model 425 for IBM FlashSystem A9000 delivers improved cost, scale, and density, and utilizes the latest 3D-TLC NAND flash technology.

IBM FlashCore technology forms the all-flash foundation of IBM FlashSystem A9000. The system utilizes IBM MicroLatency modules that leverage IBM-enhanced 3D-TLC flash to provide exceptional density, low latency, extremely high I/O, and greater reliability. Fundamental to the offering are many hardware-accelerated I/O features, redundant backplanes, nonblocking crossbar switching, and hardware-based RAID controllers designed to deliver consistent microsecond latency with market-leading performance.

IBM FlashCore technology keeps your data safe with enterprise-class data protection features, such as IBM Variable Stripe RAID technology and IBM-engineered error correction codes, while proprietary flash media wear leveling, health binning, heat segregation, and garbage collection eliminate most flash wear-out and management challenges. In addition, IBM FlashSystem A9000 includes Spectrum Accelerate software to enable redirect-on-write space-efficient snapshots, along with asynchronous and synchronous replication to deliver granular data protection without increasing costs.
