IBM Watson Platform for Health, formerly known as IBM Watson Health Core Access, provides a health data platform as a service that life science, medical device companies, researchers and others can use to create innovative solutions for their clients, while speeding time to compliance.

Watson Platform for Health offers more than a basic cloud infrastructure. It provides:

  • Robust security controls to safeguard protected health information (PHI)
  • Data ingestion, transformation and integration services
  • Enterprise Master Person Index (EMPI) with the ability to do patient matching
  • Rights governance
  • A highly available platform
  • Extensibility through program interfaces

The cloud platform removes the complexity of integrating data of different shapes, sizes and speeds by providing a HIPAA-ready data platform where researchers can glean rich medical insights from big data.

It provides security controls needed to meet the rigors of health compliance requirements. It offers a near real-time development framework that life sciences and medical device companies can use to create innovative mobile or health Internet of Things (IoT) applications.

With Watson Platform for Health, data can be transformed and curated into a standard healthcare data model, normalizing the diverse range of data types and structures that health organizations encounter. And Watson Platform for Health delivers the cloud solution in a way that helps organizations best meet their business continuity objectives, through high availability and service level agreements.

Life science and medical device companies are under pressure to increase research and development (R&D) efficiency. At the same time, they must also focus on harnessing insights gleaned using advanced health analytics to competitively develop and position their drugs and devices in market.

Watson Platform for Health provides a solution for companies that have a need for on demand, scalable IT services to address cost pressure, a demand for new services. and to improve the pace of discovery with their information.
