Overview

Top rule

IBM® Planning Analytics is a solution that automates manual, spreadsheet-based processes for planning, budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and analysis. Powered by the in-memory, online analytical processor engine of IBM TM1®, Planning Analytics helps enable finance teams to perform in-depth, multidimensional analysis. It helps organizations link operational tactics to financial plans and helps deliver insights through visualizations in a dynamic, self-service workspace. Planning Analytics can be deployed on the cloud or on-premises, with IBM Planning Analytics Local.

Version 2.0.4 of Planning Analytics Local extends the value of IBM TM1 Server by enabling it to be coupled with your choice of engaging, feature-rich user interfaces: Planning Analytics Workspace and Planning Analytics for Microsoft™ Excel.

Building upon the innovations of Version 2.0.0, Planning Analytics Local V2.0.4 is designed to provide enhanced transparency, tracking, and auditing of TM1 Server operations. With its administrative capabilities, operational administrators can monitor user activity and establish threshold-based alerts to provide notification of changes made to the environment. Its lifecycle management capabilities enable auditable migration of interface assets between instances, including changes made to the metadata, such as TM1 database names, across different environments. With Planning Analytics Local V.2.0.4, organizations can now install TM1 Server using Red Hat Enterprise Linux® Server 7.1 operating system on IBM POWER8® LE hardware.

The functional footprint for workspace modeling is increased to provide intuitive tools for IBM Planning Analytics Local Modeler. A new business rules editor provides drag-and-drop rule creation, intelligent typeahead assistance, and one-click function access. Additionally, new dimensions can be created and data can be loaded into the TM1 cube through drag-and-drop operations. Finally, analysts enjoy enhanced what-if analysis capabilities by creating sandbox scenarios on the fly as well as comparing scenario impacts using ad-hoc view calculation tools.

IBM Planning Analytics Express® provides integrated performance management and business intelligence for midsize organizations, workgroups, and departments. It delivers important planning, budgeting, and forecasting, plus reporting, analysis, visualization, dashboarding, and scorecarding capabilities for organizations of all sizes. Planning Analytics Express V2.0.4 affords small and midsized organizations, as well as departmental groups within larger enterprises, the opportunity to acquire and operate Planning Analytics capabilities, including access to the same interim fixes, refreshes, and fix packs that are supplied to enterprises.

IBM Planning Analytics Advanced V2.0.4 (formerly known as Performance Management Advanced) provides organizations with the full power of Planning Analytics in a single license. Planning Analytics Advanced may be licensed with an Authorized User or Processor Value Unit charge metric, permitting unlimited server power for a named quantity of users or for an unlimited number of users for a fixed server capacity. In either approach, the complete breadth of Planning Analytics functionality is extended with a single licensed program.

For additional information about the previously announced capabilities of Planning Analytics Local and Planning Analytics Express, see Software Announcement LP16-0448, dated December 6, 2016.

Statement of general direction

Top rule

Planning Analytics Local V2.0.4 is the last release to include a 32-bit-only client installation program. IBM intends to include an installation program to support both 64-bit and 32-bit client installs of the IBM Cognos® TM1 Perspectives and IBM Cognos TM1 Architect components, in addition to the 64-bit TM1 Server installation program. The 64-bit client installation program will require a 64-bit Microsoft Windows™ environment. For additional details, see the technical notes.

Additionally, IBM intends to deprecate the following:

  • IBM Cognos Insight - Distributed mode as a client for TM1 applications. IBM Cognos Insight - Connected provides equivalent functions with the exception of the ability to work offline.
  • IBM Cognos TM1 Operations Console. IBM Planning Analytics Workspace administration capabilities will replace existing functionality with the exception of monitoring the application server.

Authorized User

Authorized User

Authorized User is a unit of measure by which the Program can be licensed. An Authorized User is a unique person who is given access to the Program. The Program may be installed on any number of computers or servers and each Authorized User may have simultaneous access to any number of instances of the Program at one time. Licensee must obtain separate, dedicated entitlements for each Authorized User given access to the Program in any manner directly or indirectly (for example, through a multiplexing program, device, or application server) through any means. An entitlement for an Authorized User is unique to that Authorized User and may not be shared, nor may it be reassigned other than for the permanent transfer of the Authorized User entitlement to another person.

Processor Value Unit

Processor Value Unit (PVU) is a unit of measure by which the Program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the Processor Value Unit (PVU) licensing for Distributed Software website) and the number of processors made available to the Program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores.

Licensee can deploy the Program using either full capacity licensing or virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage® Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms.

Technical support of a program product version or release will be available for a minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as your Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) is in effect.

This technical support allows you to obtain assistance (by telephone or electronic means) from IBM for product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and operation of the program product. Software Subscription and Support (Software Maintenance) also provides you with access to updates (modifications or fixes), releases, and versions of the program. You will be notified, through an announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be available for a fee.

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for instructions on how to obtain the refund.

For clarification, note that (1) for programs acquired under the IBM International Passport Advantage offering, this term applies only to your first acquisition of the program and (2) for programs acquired under any of IBM's On/Off Capacity on Demand (On/Off CoD) software offerings, this term does not apply since these offerings apply to programs already acquired and in use by you.

Statement of good security practices

Top rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through intrusion prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a regulatory compliant, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.

Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
