Overview

Top rule

IBM Resiliency Orchestration automates recovery procedures for Disaster Recovery (DR) and cyber resilience for enterprises, providing more predictable and continuous operations. It enables complete DR lifecycle management and Cyber Incident Recovery orchestration for complex, hybrid infrastructures that include:

  • Traditional IT
  • Private clouds
  • Public clouds

This leads to reduced risk, cost, and testing time for DR operations.

Resiliency Orchestration V8.0 introduces built-in block replication capabilities to replicate:

  • VMware Virtual Machine to VMware Virtual Machine on IBM Cloud (IBM Cloud for VMware Solutions)
  • VMware Virtual Machine on-premises to VMware Virtual Machine on-premises

In addition, this version also includes enhancements to the Cyber Incident Recovery for Data and Cyber Incident Recovery for Platform Configurations features.

For additional information about Resiliency Orchestration, see the software announcements that are listed in the Reference information section.

Description

Top rule

The new Resiliency Orchestration V8.0 block replication feature enhances existing capabilities to provide built-in, non-intrusive, continuous block replication for application workloads. It offers the following capabilities:

  • DR for workloads running in VMware-based environments, either on-premise or on IBM Cloud
  • VMware hypervisor-based continuous asynchronous data replication for enterprise workloads that run on Microsoft Windows and Linux systems
  • Bulk discovery and automated provisioning to better support large scale workloads
  • Automated deployment of the replication components that enables low deployment effort
  • Recovery Point Objectives (RPO) in seconds and Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) in minutes to satisfy aggressive service-level objectives (SLOs)
  • Failover Test Exercise to ensure DR readiness
  • Failover and Failback DR workflows
  • Dashboard and reports showing statistics for:
    • RPO
    • RTO
    • Data lag

Cyber Incident Recovery for Data delivers enhancements for robustness and includes:

  • Discovery and management of cyber backups without impacting DR data
  • Cyber Incident Recovery for data protecting Oracle databases on physical or virtual servers
  • Anomaly checks for cyber backup data by using Tripwire Enterprise for Windows, Linux, and Oracle workloads
  • Ability to delete applications with ease by enabling maintenance mode for application groups
  • Configuration for cyber backup data based on existing DR configuration

Cyber Incident Recovery for Platform Configuration delivers enhancements for usability and includes:

  • One additional approver level while executing actions on raised alerts
  • The ability to perform revert operations from the list of versions that are free of anomalies instead of last version only
  • Bulk operations that are based on platform configuration alerts
  • Rollback operations for alerts after "accept" actions take place
  • Support for Cyber Incident Recovery for Platform Configuration for the IBM System Storage DS8000 series
  • New platform configuration reports to view the details of golden copies and the status of configuration alerts

For additional information about Resiliency Orchestration, see the Software Announcements that are listed in the Reference information section.

Statement of good security practices

Top rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through intrusion prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a regulatory compliant, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.

Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
