Prevent missed backups:

Real-time alerts:

Failed backup notification system works in real time to alert you of arising issues. You can configure the notification system to help meet the needs of your environment so that the appropriate message reaches the intended recipient.

Improve data protection capabilities:

Powerful business analytics capabilities help identify performance issues and enable the rapid tuning of backup areas. It can help optimize backup performance; Rocket Servergraph Professional isolates the location and cause of problems in your backup hardware and software.

Centralize information:

Centralize your backup information in a single, convenient interface. You can graph client or server statistics for virtually any length of time. Rocket Servergraph Professional automatically updates the dashboard and statistics, giving you with a more efficient source for backup and storage information.

Backup data analysis:

Rocket Servergraph Professional displays data about various aspects aspect of your backup operations and enables you to identify backup performance and operational issues and view trends that assist in areas such as storage capacity planning. Servergraph's data analysis tools are customizable and can help optimize a wide range of operational tasks.

Manage Tivoli Storage Manager (TSM):

Use the Rocket Servergraph Professional TSM Administration Console to manage most aspects of your TSM environment. You can query nodes and share the results in a variety of formats. Furthermore, you can control TSM server functions, such as setting retention time, defining policy sets, managing user passwords, and defining administrator permissions, and by searching the TSM activity log, you can determine when errors occurred.

Value-added planning:

Rocket Servergraph Professional can help you more effectively plan and allocate backup and storage resources. By using historical data to predict when vital resources such as databases, storage pools, or file spaces may fill up, you can avoid potential mishaps and be prepared.

Identify storage abuse:

Identify the users taking up the most space or abusing storage privileges. You can also locate excess space in backups, archives, or HSM files, and find fast growing clients in your system.

Automated and accurate billing:

Rocket Servergraph Professional storage billing enables you to charge based on a variety of parameters, such as storage used and bandwidth consumed. It also enables you to create separate billing rates for various factors including different tape media, onsite versus offsite storage, and quota levels.

Data gathering:

Rocket Servergraph Professional minimizes the impact on the backup server being monitored by performing the minimum number of queries necessary to gather the required information. For TSM, three different methods are used to collect data:

Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act

IBM makes no representation about the Section 508 status of the third-party electronic and information technology product in this offering. Contact the vendor for specific, current information on the Section 508 status of this product.

A number of large enterprises require a cross-vendor backup management solution that can eliminate the need for multiple administration tools. Rocket Servergraph Professional is an ideal solution for these organizations. Licensing Rocket Servergraph Professional from IBM can give clients "one hand to shake" and one less vendor to manage.

Rocket Servergraph Professional is not required for typical Tivoli Storage Manager backup environments. Tivoli Storage Manager includes reporting and monitoring for Tivoli Storage Manager deployments:

Professional Per Processor Value Unit (PVU)

Processor Value Unit (PVU)

PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU Table by processor value, brand, type, and model number at the following website and the number of processors made available to the program.

IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores.

Licensee can deploy the program using either Full Capacity licensing or Virtualization Capacity (Sub-Capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (see webpage below). If using Full Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores1 in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using Virtualization Capacity licensing, Licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at ecific_virtualization_technologies.html
An Activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions.

Notes :

Pricing examples

Customers are required to purchase either PVU Entitlements or Terabyte Entitlements to acquire Rocket Servergraph Professional.

Scenario 1

A customer wants to acquire Rocket Servergraph Professional for their environment on the PVU metric. The customer has one 10 core server at 100 PVUs per core. The customer must purchase 10*100=1000 PVUs of Rocket Servergraph Professional. This customer will not purchase any TB licenses.

Scenario 2

A customer wants to acquire Rocket Servergraph Professional for their environment on the Terabyte metric. The customer's environment requires 60 Terabytes of data to be acquired. The customer will need to purchase 60 TB of Rocket Servergraph Professional. This customer will not purchase any PVU licenses.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered destroyed or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective. IBM does not warrant that systems and products are immune from the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
