Overview

IBM Mobile Enterprise Services for managed mobility Version 2.0, announced in Services Announcement 612-021, dated August 21, 2012 , has been updated to Version 2.1 and includes these enhancements:

• Support for new enterprise mobility management solutions from IBM and alliance partners
• New cloud-based options that provide increased flexibility for clients in addition to existing on-premise deployments
• Support for the latest mobile platforms and devices, including Apple iOS, Google Android, RIM BlackBerry, Windows™ Phone, and Windows Mobile

Description

IBM Mobile Enterprise Services for managed mobility addresses the enterprise need for a managed service that delivers mobile services to a variety of mobile platforms, including RIM BlackBerry smartphones and tablets (for example, PlayBook), Apple iOS smartphones and tablets (for example, iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad), and Google Android smartphones and tablets. Specific capabilities include mobile device management (MDM), BlackBerry Enterprise Server, secure mobile messaging middleware (for example, Good for Enterprise), and level 2 and 3 end-user and administrative support. Supported messaging platforms include Lotus® Domino® and Microsoft™ Exchange. Both corporate-liable and employee-liable devices are supported, and employees are able to leverage a self-service portal to connect their devices and manage them without administrative intervention.
