Overview

IBM Data Mobility Services - Softek asset license - Softek TDMF z/OS , announced in Services Announcement 608-131, dated September 16, 2008 , has been updated to Version 5.4 and includes the following enhancement:

• Maintaining application availability for migrations that include large consistency groups

IBM Data Mobility Services - Softek asset license - Softek TDMF z/OS enables host-based, nondisruptive volume-level migrations while your business applications remain available. Currently more organizations are dedicating a large portion of their storage environment for business continuance volumes, commonly known as BCV. As a result, many organizations are including thousands of volumes in a single consistency group. In order to maintain consistency, clients require that all of the volumes defined to a particular consistency group be moved at the same time to minimize outages. TDMF z/OS V5.4 addresses this requirement by increasing the number of groups that can be processed by a single TDMF z/OS session to better support large consistency groups.

IBM Data Mobility Services - Softek asset license - Softek TDMF z/OS is ideal for technology refresh, server and storage consolidation, data center relocation, and storage optimization. Flexible pacing, grouping, and copy options allow multiple sessions to be performed simultaneously with minimal impact to applications.

This service is available in three forms:

• As a software license
• As a project engagement
• As an element of a managed service engagement

As is standard practice for Softek TDMF z/OS , the current version and one previous version are supported. After the release of TDMF z/OS V5.4, support will be ended for TDMF z/OS V5.2. The effective date for TDMF z/OS V5.2 end of support is August 30, 2013.
