IBM Cloud™ Pak for Automation delivers a robust, end-to-end solution for business automation needs within the clients' enterprise. Cloud Pak for Automation V19.0.2 delivers the following enhanced capabilities:

  • Introduce a development environment with Business Automation Studio for the digital automation platform that helps accelerate digital transformation. Business Automation Studio will become the single place where users of the automation platform go to author applications, digital agents and services.
  • Build, modify, and refine business automation-based applications with Application Designer.
  • Provide granular access control for Business Automation Insights dashboards.

This release of Cloud Pak for Automation, V19.0.2 also includes the following new offerings:

  • IBM Datacap (5725-C15)
  • IBM Enterprise Records (5724-S19)
  • IBM Content Collector for SAP Applications (5725-B46)
  • IBM Content Collector for Email, File Servers, and SharePoint (5724-V57)

Cloud Pak for Automation is also optimized to operate on Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, which is included with Cloud Pak for Automation V19.0.2.

The IBM Cloud Pak for Automation V19.0.2 offering includes the following programs:

  • Business Automation Workflow (5737-H41)

    Business Automation Workflow combines IBM Business Process Manager (IBM BPM) and IBM Case Manager into one workflow offering. It unites information, process, and users to provide a 360-degree view of work. In addition to process management and case management, Business Automation Workflow:

    • Uses advanced analytics, business rules, and collaboration to drive more successful, optimized business outcomes.
    • Provides:
      • Tools that simplify designing and deploying business solutions
      • A ready-to-use interface that is flexible and customizable and can be extended to create role-based client experiences
      • An active-content infrastructure that manages the persisted case object model and enables content-based events for case activities
      • A common environment for straight-through processing, human, and case-oriented workflows
      • Rich analytics to track and measure workflow business performance
      • Methods to help users to gather the right content, apply analytics for more accurate decisions, and take necessary actions to assure better business outcomes
      • Ability to identify and incorporate both structured and unstructured content into workflows, regardless of where that content lives either on premises, in the cloud, or in the field with mobile devices

  • IBM ODM (5725-B69)

    ODM is an advanced business rules management system. It is part of the Automation Platform for Digital Business that helps clients capture, automate, and govern frequent, repeatable business decisions. ODM adds near real-time decision making to clients' day-to-day operations. It can help ensure that client applications remain current and well aligned with their changing business objectives.

    ODM supports organizations in virtually every industry to:

    • Automate and govern operational decision making across business processes and applications that help to improve business insight and ensure consistent outcomes.
    • Easily and consistently help business stakeholders to implement, test, and deploy decision changes to meet new market demands and policy requirements.
    • Help stakeholders understand how business decisions that drive operations are made.

Content Collector for File Systems can be automatically configured to capture documents as files are placed in a monitored location on the file share, or it can archive existing content based on age, file size, or other criteria that clients define. Content Collector for File Systems can:

  • Business Automation Insights

    Business Automation Insights is a platform-level component that provides visualization and insights to business owners. It feeds a unified data lake with business automation data that can be used to infuse artificial intelligence in the Automation Platform for Digital Business. Based on current open source technologies, Business Automation Insights:

    • Enables the capture of events generated by the operational systems implemented with the Automation Platform for Digital Business products.
    • Aggregates operational data in business relevant KPIs.
    • Presents operational data in meaningful dashboards that allows lines of business to have a near real-time view on their business operations.
    • Takes advantage of the valuable data that is generated by operational systems implemented with the Automation Platform for Digital Business, to apply machine learning algorithms. This infuses intelligence into the platform, and guides knowledge workers and business owners. Potential applications include the ability to:
      • Recommend decisions.
      • Predict process duration.
      • Advise next best task.
      • Predict bottlenecks or Service Level Agreement (SLA) breakage.
      • Optimize processes.

    In this release, artificial intelligence (AI) potential is illustrated in the form of Jupyter notebooks examples that data scientists and developers can use to their advantage.

    Designed as an open platform, Business Automation Insights can be enriched with new dashboards, new aggregates, and new Machine Learning algorithms to be even more relevant to specific business domains or objectives.

  • Business Automation Content Analyzer

    Business Automation Content Analyzer is an intelligent data component of the platform. It enables organizations to efficiently and securely classify and extract data from large volumes of their content as they transform their business. This can significantly increase productivity and scale of an organization's digital operations. It provides:

    • A design tool for a business analyst that is fast and easy to configure
    • Document classification
    • Business data extraction into key-value pairs
    • Table identification header and section extraction
    • Conversion to searchable PDF file format
    • An API for developers who need to add intelligent data features to their applications

    FileNet Content Manager and IBM Datacap both provide features that process documents using Business Automation Content Analyzer.

    Business Automation Content Analyzer addresses a variety of use cases that include the ability to:

    • Update and populate metadata properties on documents that are contained in or added to FileNet Content Manager.
    • Complement document capture systems with AI capabilities for better classification and extraction results.
    • Automate and accelerate workflow processes that require data from documents to update systems and make decisions.
    • Extract and transform data from documents to use in analytics and data science applications.
    • Automate document transactions when used together with IBM Robotic Process Automation (RPA).

  • Business Automation Studio

    Business Automation Studio provides the development environment for the digital automation platform to help accelerate digital transformation. It becomes the single place where users of the automation platform go to author applications, digital agents, and services. It introduces:

    • Designers for applications, business services and agents
    • Consistent lifecycle and governance mechanisms to help authors create and manage their projects
    • A Catalog where authors can go to discover reusable assets
    • Collaboration mechanisms to help facilitate communication among authors working on projects

    This release introduces the first authoring designer called Application Designer. Application Designer is a low-code application builder where clients can build, modify, and refine business automation-based applications that take advantage of the capabilities of the platform through iterative development and playback. The focus of the low-code building experience is on page creation that use easy-to-use methods for populating the page with UI views and configuration.

    As part of the Application Designer offering, reusable artifacts called toolkits and templates are available:

    • Toolkits deliver reusable artifacts that are used during the development to create applications. Toolkits enable more complex functions and platform-ready toolkits to provide access to platform services and UI views.
    • Templates are used to jump-start building a new application. Templates provide a predefined starting point that can be used by a business user to create applications in Application Designer. A template can represent a common-use case pattern, such as a document renewal template, workflow dashboard template, and more.

Licensing

IBM International Program License Agreement including the License Information document and Proof of Entitlement (PoE) govern your use of the program. PoEs are required for all authorized use. Part number products only, offered outside of Passport Advantage, where applicable, are license only and do not include Software Maintenance.

Software Maintenance

This program is licensed under the IBM Program License Agreement (IPLA) and the associated Agreement for Acquisition of Software Maintenance, which provide for support with ongoing access to releases and versions of the program. IBM includes one year of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) with the initial license acquisition of each program acquired. The initial period of Software Subscription and Support (also referred to as Software Maintenance) can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if available. These programs have a one-time license charge for use of the program and an annual renewable charge for the enhanced support that includes telephone assistance (voice support for defects during normal business hours), as well as access to updates, releases, and versions of the program as long as support is in effect.

  • You will be notified, through an announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with six months' notice.

The end of support dates as previously announced for each individual program included within this offering will be honored by IBM.

While your Software Subscription and Support is in effect, IBM provides you assistance for your routine, short duration installation and usage (how-to) questions, and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance by telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information systems (IS) technical support personnel during the normal business hours (published prime shift hours) of your IBM support center. (This assistance is not available to your users.) IBM provides Severity 1 assistance 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. For additional details, see the IBM Support Guide.
