Brief Description of Announcement, Charges, and Availability

     IBM announces an Enhanced Color Display for IBM Personal
Computers. The IBM Enhanced Color Display when used with the newly
announced IBM Enhanced Graphics Adapter (#1200) provides an improved
color graphics level for the IBM Personal Computer, IBM Personal
Computer XT, and IBM Personal Computer AT.

DESCRIPTION
       The IBM Enhanced Color Display is designed to provide an
improved level of color graphics when used with the IBM Enhanced
Graphics Adapter (#1200) for users of the IBM Personal Computer, IBM
Personal Computer XT, and IBM Personal Computer AT.  The IBM Enhanced
Color Display provides 640 x 350 pel definition from a palette of 64
colors, 16 at one time when operating with the IBM Enhanced Graphics
Adapter. The compatibility modes allow the IBM Enhanced Color Display
to operate with either the IBM Enhanced Graphics Adapter or the IBM
Color/Graphics Monitor Adapter.  The IBM Enhanced Color Display also
features a dark, etched screen for high contrast and reduced glare.
The IBM Enhanced Color Display is similar in size and shape to the
existing IBM 5153 Personal Computer Color Display.

       Planned availability is January 1985.

SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: The IBM Enhanced Color Display requires that
the IBM Enhanced Graphics Adapter or IBM Color/Graphics Monitor
Adapter be installed in the IBM Personal Computer system unit it will
be attached to.
SOFTWARE CONSIDERATIONS: Described in the Technical Reference Manual
under each adapter (IBM Enhanced Graphics or IBM Color/Graphics
Monitor).
SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL
       The IBM Enhanced Color Display can be used and managed so as
to limit the risk of unintended modification, destruction, or
disclosure of sensitive data.  User management is responsible for
evaluating, selecting and implementation of security features, for
administrative procedures, and for appropriate controls in
application system.
PLANNING INFORMATION
ORDERING INFORMATION: Orders for any quantity of IBM Enhanced Color
Displays may be taken by NAD/NMD marketing representatives.
       Orders for quantities less than 20 may be taken by the IBM
Product Centers. Each Product Center will take and process orders
within its trading area.
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY: The customer is responsible for unpacking
and correctly attaching the IBM Enhanced Color Display to the IBM
Personal Computer system unit.
INSTALLABILITY:
*   The IBM Enhanced Color Display can be attached to an IBM Personal
    Computer, IBM Personal Computer XT, or IBM Personal Computer AT.
    A signal cable connects to either the IBM Enhanced Graphics
    Adapter or the IBM Color/Graphics Monitor Adapter.
*   Detailed installation instructions are supplied with the IBM
    Enhanced Color Display.
PACKAGING: The IBM Enhanced Color Display is shipped with the Option
Installation Instructions and the Problem Determination Procedures
for the Guide to Operations binder.
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
       The IBM Personal Computing Assistance Center (PCAC) will
provide assistance to eligible IBM customers for the period of their
qualifying contract.
CHARGES, TERMS, AND CONDITIONS
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
CUSTOMER SETUP: The IBM Enhanced Color Display is a customer set-up
(CSU) machine. Customer set up allowance is one day.  Detailed set-up
instructions are included with each machine.  Setup service is
available from IBM Customer Service Division at IBM hourly rates and
minimums.
WARRANTY PERIOD: One year.
WARRANTY SERVICE: Customer Carry-In Exchange service is provided
during the warranty period. Warranty service offerings are described
in the Agreement for Purchase of IBM Machines (Z120-2892) and the
Amendment for IBM Service/Exchange Center Services (Z125-3385-01).
WARRANTY OPTIONS: IBM On-Site Exchange and Customer On-Site Exchange
are available.
MAINTENANCE SERVICE: Maintenance service is available under the IBM
Maintenance Agreement (Z125-3275) and the Amendment for IBM
Service/Exchange Center Services (Z125-3385-01).  The following
services, as described in the 'Information Bulletin for Customers -
IBM Service/Exchange Center Services and Associated On-site Services'
(G125-3488) are available:
*   IBM On-Site Exchange (IOE)
*   Customer On-Site Exchange (COE)
*   Customer Carry-In Exchange (CCE)
*   Customer Carry-In Repair (CCR)
TIME AND MATERIAL: Time and material service may be obtained by
calling the IBM Service/Exchange Communication Center's (S/ECC)
toll-free number.

       The S/ECC will give the customer instructions for returning
the machine for service.

EDUCATIONAL ALLOWANCE: An educational allowance of 20% is available
to qualifying institutions.  The educational allowance is not
additive to any other discount or allowance.
VOLUME PROCUREMENT AMENDMENT (VPA): Normal IBM VPA provisions apply.
The IBM Enhanced Color Display is included in the IBM Personal
Computer Volume Procurement Amendment (VPA) Exhibit under Category C.
       Customers whose requirements will not result in VPA quantities
may also order from an IBM Product Center.  Each IBM Product Center
will take and process orders within its trading area.

SPECIAL BID PROVISIONS: Special bid provisions apply. The IBM
Personal Computer Enhanced Color Display is available under Category
C of all Personal Computer special bid contracts and terms and
conditions consistent with the volume procurement amendment (VPA)
exhibit. For existing qualified educational customers, the IBM
Personal Computer Enhanced Color Display is available under the
discounts and terms and conditions consistent with the standard
Educational Institution Special Bid Exhibit.  The IBM Enhanced Color
Display is available for remarketing under existing Personal Computer
special bid contracts that allow remarketing subject to the terms of
those contracts.
       The 5154 is not available under the terms and conditions of
the Employee Collegiate Program.
       The 5154 is not an eligible machine under the Alternative
Certification of IBM Machines.

Notice to IBM Customers

REVISED EXHIBIT - ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION FOR IBM MACHINES
       IBM has announced a revised Exhibit to the Alternative
Certification for IBM Machines. Under this revised exhibit, the 5154
and 5175 machines are added to the list of machines that are not
eligible machines under the Alternative Certification for IBM
Machines. A copy of the revised exhibit is attached to this notice
and is effective for all purchases on or after September 10, 1984.
