Description

Top rule

IBM FlashSystem V9000 delivers the capabilities of IBM FlashCore® technology combined with the scalability and rich storage features in IBM Spectrum Virtualize™ software to deliver a high-performance, high-capacity flash solution.

FlashSystem V9000 Flash Enclosure Model AE3 features new 3.6 TB and 8.5 TB MicroLatency flash modules with inline hardware compression to deliver ultra-low latency and performance-optimized compression. Tier 0, performance-critical workloads can be deployed on Model AE3 enclosures with a 2.5 to 1 or better compression ratio for up to 219 TB effective capacity and up to 1.3M IOPS.

A high-capacity 18 TB MicroLatency flash module is also offered. Featuring the same ultra-low latency of the smaller modules, the capacity of this module can be increased by taking advantage of the data reduction technologies within the IBM Spectrum Virtualize software, yielding up to a 5 to 1 compression ratio for up to 900 TB effective capacity.

The structure of IBM FlashSystem V9000 remains the same, with the AE3 flash enclosure replacing the AE2. A single 6U building block will now feature a pair of Model AC3 controllers, with an AE3 flash enclosure.

Up to four building blocks can be combined to create an IBM FlashSystem V9000 capable of delivering up to 5.2M IOPS. A total of eight AE3 flash enclosures can be attached to allow 1.7 PB of effective capacity with hardware compression. This can further be increased by using the 18 TB modules for up to 7.2 PB of effective capacity.

Additional tier 1 capacity can be added through IBM FlashSystem expansion enclosures. Models 12F, 24F, and 92F enable additional SAS drives to be added, with each 92F supporting up to 1.3 PB of usable capacity to a total overall system capacity of 32 PB.

Increased flexibility with Model AE3 improves the integration with IBM Spectrum Virtualize Easy Tier®. A single Model AE3 flash enclosure can be segregated to allow both pure performance workloads and Easy Tier workloads at the same time.

IBM Spectrum Virtualize continues to offer enterprise-class, advanced storage capabilities, including:

  • IBM Easy Tier
  • Data reduction
  • Copy services
  • Data virtualization
  • Highly available configurations

Advanced data services provided include copy services, mirroring, replication, external virtualization, and VMware support. Host interface support includes 16 Gb Fibre Channel and 10 Gb iSCSI. AES 256, hardware-based encryption adds to the rich set of features.

Accessibility by people with disabilities

A US Section 508 Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) containing details on accessibility compliance can be found on the IBM Accessibility website.

Warranty service

If required, IBM provides repair or exchange service depending on the types of warranty service specified for the machine. IBM will attempt to resolve your problem over the telephone, or electronically through an IBM website. Certain machines contain remote support capabilities for direct problem reporting, remote problem determination, and resolution with IBM. You must follow the problem determination and resolution procedures that IBM specifies. Following problem determination, if IBM determines on-site service is required, scheduling of service will depend upon the time of your call, machine technology and redundancy, and availability of parts. If applicable to your product, parts considered Customer Replaceable Units (CRUs) will be provided as part of the machine's standard warranty service.

Service levels are response-time objectives and are not guaranteed. The specified level of warranty service may not be available in all worldwide locations. Additional charges may apply outside IBM's normal service area. Contact your local IBM representative or your reseller for country-specific and location-specific information.

On-site Service

At IBM's discretion, you will receive specified CRU service, or IBM will repair the failing machine at your location and verify its operation. You must provide a suitable working area to allow disassembly and reassembly of the IBM machine. The area must be clean, well-lit, and suitable for the purpose.

Service level is:

  • 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, same day response.

Warranty service

IBM is now shipping machines with selected non-IBM parts that contain an IBM field replaceable unit (FRU) part number label. These parts are to be serviced during the IBM machine warranty period. IBM is covering the service on these selected non-IBM parts as an accommodation to their customers, and normal warranty service procedures for the IBM machine apply.

Warranty service upgrades

During the warranty period, warranty service upgrades provide an enhanced level of On-site Service for an additional charge. Service levels are response-time objectives and are not guaranteed. See the Warranty services section for additional details.
