TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT
HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS: Four configurations may be defined for IBM
Personal Computers, IBM Portable Personal Computers, IBM Personal
Computer XTs, and IBM Personal Computer ATs participating in the IBM
PC Network using the IBM PC Network Program. The minimum requirements
vary by configuration. Every Personal Computer requires an 80-column
display and the hardware requirements listed for each configuration:
o   Redirector Configuration: 128Kb of memory and one dual-sided
    diskette drive
o   Receiver Configuration: 192Kb of memory and one dual-sided
    diskette drive
o   Messenger Configuration: 256Kb of memory and one dual-sided
    diskette drive
o   Server Configuration: 320Kb of memory, one dual-sided diskette
    drive, and one fixed disk.
With each of these configurations, at least 64Kb of memory is
available for user programs or for IBM Personal Computer Disk
Operating System (DOS) extended commands. An IBM PC Network Adapter,
the IBM PC Network Program, and DOS Version 3.1 are required for each
workstation. An IBM Personal Computer-compatible printer is required
for print server functions.
COMPATIBILITY: The IBM Personal Computer Program License Agreement
permits the use of a program on only one machine at any one time.
The customer is responsible for ensuring that the appropriate number
of licenses are obtained.
The programs listed below have been tested and are supported
to run on the IBM PC Network with the IBM PC Network Program and DOS
3.1 using the IBM PC Network Adapter. The' share application' column
indicates that the application can be shared over the network. The
notation, yes (one), indicates that only one network user can use the
application at a time. Yes (multiple) indicates that several network
users can use the application at the same time.
The 'access data remotely' column indicates either that data
for the application across the network can or cannot be shared or
that the application does not allow data to be stored on a fixed
disk.
