Designed to support storage growth, demanding workloads, and data center consolidation, the 32 Gbps 64-port blade (feature number 3264) delivers unmatched 32 Gbps performance, industry-leading port density, and multiprotocol flexibility. It can effectively scale IBM Storage Networking SAN256B-6 and SAN512B-6 directors to build high-density SAN fabrics that maximize productivity and increase the efficiency of storage investments. By combining robust Gen 6 capabilities with multiprotocol flexibility and enhanced latency monitoring of NVMe over Fibre Channel traffic, the Brocade 32 Gbps 64-port blade enables a seamless transition to the all-flash data center and drives IT innovation.

The IBM Storage Networking b-type SAN switch and director family supports Fibre Channel connectivity for servers and storage. IBM Storage Networking SAN256B-6 (8961-F04) and SAN512B-6 (8961-F08) support all features and functions listed, and require Fabric OS level 8.2.0, or later.

SAN256B-6 and SAN512B-6 offer an optional 32 Gbps 64-port blade (feature number 3264) and can now scale even further, up to 256 and 512 ports respectively. The 64-port blade delivers 33% more device ports and increases total system bandwidth up to 20 Tbps. This blade provides 64 Fibre Channel ports in an elegant, high-density form factor designed with Q-Flex connections, enabling administrators to simplify cabling infrastructure.

Ports on IBM Storage Networking Gen 6 directors (single chassis):

  • SAN512B-6 provides up to 512 32-Gbps ports and 32 128-Gbps UltraScale ICL ports
  • SAN256B-6 provides up to 256 32-Gbps ports and 16 128-Gbps UltraScale ICL ports
  • 48-port 32 Gbps Fibre Channel blade supports E, F, D, M, SIM, AE, and EX port modes
  • 64-port 32 Gbps (16-port 128 Gbps) Fibre Channel blade supports E, F, D, M, SIM, AE, EX, and FCoE port modes

Link speeds:

  • Autosensing of 4, 8, 16, and 32 Gbps port speeds on 48-port blades depends on the SFPs used, speed matching between 4, 8, 16, and 32 Gbps port speeds
  • 10 Gbps port speeds with dedicated SFPs
  • 64-port blade support 10 GbE, 25 GbE, and 40 GbE using the appropriate QSFP transceivers
