Description

Top rule

OCP for Power provides a secure, enterprise-grade platform that brings together industry-leading container orchestration with advanced application build and delivery automation for Power Systems. OCP for Power brings together both developers and IT operations with a common platform. It provides applications, platforms, and services for creating and delivering cloud-native apps and management for on-premises private clouds so IT can ensure the environment is secure and available.

OCP 3.10 for Power provides enterprises the same functionality as the Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform offering on other platforms. Key features include:

  • Self-service environment for application and development teams
  • Pluggable architecture that supports choice of container runtimes, networking, storage, CI/CD, and more
  • Ability to automate routine tasks for application teams

Organizations with Power servers can leverage OCP for Power to build and deploy data and cognitive applications on a server architecture that is purpose-built to deliver services more efficiently and economically. This enables IT to provide self-service and automated delivery for their highly performing data and cognitive services, including open source databases and GPU-accelerated applications.

OCP for Power can be implemented alongside an existing Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform environment. OCP for Power can co-exist with OpenShift Container Platform as two independent container clusters managed independently, but with that same familiar Red Hat interface and tool set.

Clients can quickly get operational on OCP for Power by using a preconfigured selection of popular applications and databases in ready-to-run Red Hat Certified containers for Power. The platform is extensible, so clients can also bring their own containerized workloads to the platform. OCP for Power comes with the following Red Hat Certified containers for Power:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux
  • MySQL
  • PostgreSQL
  • MariaDB
  • MongoDB
  • Node.js
  • Ruby
  • PHP
  • Perl
  • Apache httpd
  • Nginx

The introduction of OCP for Power unites two critical elements of most enterprise data centers into a single modern platform: IBM Power servers and Red Hat Enterprise Linux with OpenShift Container Platform. Together, they deliver a highly secure, reliable, and manageable hardware and software stack that organizations of all sizes need to compete and succeed.

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform for Power expands the choices of private cloud platforms available for Power Systems servers, including the IBM Cloud™ Private and others.

Section 508 of the US Rehabilitation Act

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform for Power is capable as of October 26, 2018, when used in accordance with associated IBM documentation, of satisfying the applicable requirements of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act, provided that any assistive technology used with the product properly interoperates with it. A US Section 508 Accessibility Conformance Statement can be requested on the Product accessibility information website.

Statement of good security practices

Top rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through intrusion prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a regulatory compliant, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.

Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
