Description
Bottom rule

IBM Spectrum Control Storage Insights delivers insights into your storage environment that can provide the following benefits:

  • Prevent performance problems before they happen
  • Reclaim unused or wasted storage space
  • Optimize data placement for the best cost and performance tradeoff
  • Gain control of capacity planning and understand application and departmental use
  • Serve as a single pane of glass to manage heterogeneous storage environments

Starting with this release, Storage Insights introduces direct support for non-IBM storage devices, starting with Dell EMC VMAX, VNX, and VNXe storage systems. This will enable users of Storage Insights to monitor a heterogeneous environment from a single interface and represents a huge step forward in providing a unique solution for mixed storage environments.

This release also includes expanded support for the following:

  • IBM Cloud Object Storage: In the area of drive support, Storage Insights will show the drives within the Slicestor® nodes to enable better calculation of the risk of storage failures.
  • IBM Spectrum Scale: The external capacity views have been enhanced so that if external pools are being used, the amount of capacity within a given file system or cluster which has been moved to external pools can be better understood.
  • Replication:
    • vDisk mirror views: A table of all of the vDisk mirror relationships within an SVC or Storwize device is provided to better determine how much capacity is being taken up due to the redundancy.
    • HyperSwap views: A table of all HyperSwap relationships that an SVC or Storwize device is involved in is provided to better determine how much capacity is being taken up due to the redundancy.

Statement of good security practices
Bottom rule

IT system security involves protecting systems and information through prevention, detection, and response to improper access from within and outside your enterprise. Improper access can result in information being altered, destroyed, or misappropriated or can result in misuse of your systems to attack others. Without a comprehensive approach to security, no IT system or product should be considered completely secure and no single product or security measure can be completely effective in preventing improper access. IBM systems and products are designed to be part of a lawful, comprehensive security approach, which will necessarily involve additional operational procedures, and may require other systems, products, or services to be most effective.

Important: IBM does not warrant that any systems, products, or services are immune from, or will make your enterprise immune from, the malicious or illegal conduct of any party.
