IBM solidDB V7.0 provides an ideal platform to build in-memory, real-time, enterprise applications. Compatibility enhancements make migrating applications to solidDB V7.0 easy. Adapting to different application and deployment needs, solidDB provides powerful schema mapping and data transformation, which allows intergration to most popular databases. Enhanced scalability, transparent failover, low or no administration requirements, and low resource requirements delivered by solidDb V7.0 lowers total cost of ownership. With solidDB V7.0 universal cache feature of IBM InfoSphere® Change Data Capture V6.5 (now bundled with solidDB 7.0), you get more reliability and faster performance to transaction processing (OLTP) workloads. IBM InfoSphere Change Data Capture V6.5 (now bundled with solidDB 7.0) brings more reliability and faster performance to transaction processing (OLTP) workloads with solidDB V7.0 universal cache feature. IBM solidDB server compatibility solidDB V7.0 introduces several changes and enhancements in the solidDB server that ease the migration of applications from other enterprise data servers to solidDB. The changes include:
The shared memory access, introduced in V7.0, increases performance and reduces response times by linking multiple applications to a dynamic library comprised of the full solidDB server code. In V7.0, transparent connectivity that offers transparent failover and load balancing to high availability applications was available over TCP/IP-based connections only. V7.0 introduces two-node shared memory access configurations, bringing transparent connectivity capabilities to shared memory access applications. Full read/write loads can now be run against both the HotStandby primary and secondary servers of the two-node shared memory access setup, facilitating active-active configurations. Horizontal scaling allows scaling out horizontally by adding a node, which increases capacity and allows more data to be accelerated since memory is now doubled. Horizontal scaling also provides HotStandby and load balancing by ensuring that solidDB's primary node is in sync with its secondary node. HotStandby multiprocessing scaling improvements add parallelism to the apply processing in the secondary node. This improves performance as the secondary node can now process write operations using multiple threads. Using multiple threads eliminates or minimizes throttling in the primary node that was previously caused by the apply bottleneck in the secondary node. InfoSphere Change Data Capture V6.5 bundling solidDB V7.0 bundles InfoSphere Change Data Capture V6.5 for all supported backend data server types. InfoSphere Change Data Capture V6.5 enhancements include improved resiliency to component failures, improved performance of refresh and apply processing, and enhanced monitoring and debugging capabilities. Performance and usability enhancements Symmetrical multiprocessing optimization technology adds much more efficiency because it utilizes multicore system architectures to their full potential.

Memory requirements The amount of memory required for the solidDB JDBC and ODBC clients depends on the operating system and the database applications that are running. In most cases, it should be sufficient to use the minimum memory requirements of the operating system as the minimum requirement for running the solidDB JDBC and ODBC clients. The amount of memory required for the solidDB connector depends on the operating system and the database applications that are running. In most cases, it should be sufficient to use the minimum memory requirements for DB2 Linux, UNIX, and Windows, or Informix Dynamic Server as the minimum requirement for running the solidDB connector. The amount of memory required for the solidDB in memory engine depends on the operating system and the database applications that are running. Memory requirements will primarily depend on the size of the database. Disk space requirements The minimum disk space is 10 MB for a typical installation. The actual space required will vary depending on the logging parameters selected, use of the on disk engine, and the size of the database stored on disk. The program's specifications and specified operating environment information may be found in documentation accompanying the program, if available, such as a readme file, or other information published by IBM, such as an announcement letter. Documentation and other program content may be supplied only in the English language. IBM solidDB 5724-V17 Per Processor
Value Unit (PVU)
Charge metrics definitions Processor Value Unit (PVU) PVU is a unit of measure by which the program can be licensed. The number of PVU entitlements required is based on the processor technology (defined within the PVU Table by processor value, brand, type, and model number at and the number of processors made available to the program. IBM continues to define a processor, for the purpose of PVU-based licensing, to be each processor core on a chip. A dual-core processor chip, for example, has two processor cores. Licensee can deploy the program using either full capacity licensing or virtualization capacity (sub-capacity) licensing according to the Passport Advantage Sub-Capacity Licensing Terms (refer to the webpage below). If using full capacity licensing, licensee must obtain PVU entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores* in the physical hardware environment made available to or managed by the program, except for those servers from which the program has been permanently removed. If using virtualization capacity licensing, licensee must obtain entitlements sufficient to cover all activated processor cores made available to or managed by the program, as defined according to the Virtualization Capacity License Counting Rules at * An activated processor core is a processor core that is available for use in a physical or virtual server, regardless of whether the capacity of the processor core can be or is limited through virtualization technologies, operating system commands, BIOS settings, or similar restrictions. IBM has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to help you achieve higher system availability. Electronic Services is a web-enabled solution that offers an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support available for IBM servers. These services are designed to provide the opportunity for greater system availability with faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. Electronic Services comprises two separate, but complementary, elements: Electronic Services news page and Electronic Services Agent. The Electronic Services news page is a single Internet entry point that replaces the multiple entry points traditionally used to access IBM Internet services and support. The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving technical problems. The Electronic Service Agent is no-additional-charge software that resides on your server. It monitors events and transmits system inventory information to IBM on a periodic, client-defined timetable. The Electronic Service Agent automatically reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to deliver proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition, information collected through the Service Agent is made available to IBM service support representatives when they help answer your questions or diagnose problems. Installation and use of IBM Electronic Service Agent for problem reporting enables IBM to provide better support and service for your IBM server.
