ADVANCED CONTROL SYSTEM  VERSION 2 AND REALTIME  PLANT MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM

The  Advanced Control  System Version  2 and  the Realtime  Plant
Management  System are  two plant  operations management  systems
made up  of a  family of  licensed programs  providing integrated
modules which  execute in an  MVS/370 environment.   The Realtime
Plant  Management  System  provides  control  room  and  decision
support  functions   to  assist   plant  managers,   supervisors,
engineers, and  operators at  the plant,  area, and  unit/machine
levels to  manage productions  operations.  The  Advanced Control
System Version 2  in addition to offering all  the Realtime Plant
Management System  monitoring and manual control  functions offer
computer process control functions that perform automatic control
of  a  plant's  process  operations   to  provide  an  integrated
plant-wide  information  and   control   system.   Through  usage
charges,  the charges  for  either  the Advanced  Control  System
Version  2   or  the  Realtime   Plant Management System  vary in
accordance with the number of process input/outputs desired.
HIGHLIGHTS
PLANT OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
The  products  described  below   support  two  plant  operations
management systems environments:
1. Realtime  Plant  Management  System -  a  comprehensive  plant
monitoring and information system. In addition, operator guidance
and manual control facilities are provided.
2. Advanced  Control System  Version  2  - an  automatic  process
control  system built  on the  Realtime  Plant Management  System
environment.
These  two environments  are described  in  more  detail   below,
followed   by  the   highlights  of  the  Licensed Programs  that
provide these environments.
REALTIME PLANT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
o The  primary goal  is to  assist  plant managers,  supervisors,
engineers and operators on a  continuing realtime basis to manage
and conduct their plant operations.
o Provides control  room and  decision support  functions at  the
plant,   area,  and   unit/machine  levels   from  a   plant-wide
information system perspective via:

o Offers special  functions to  facilitate processing  high speed
on-line input/output data streams to  and from plant equipment in
realtime,  all of  which  are  characteristics of  an  industrial
environment.
o Provides realtime extensions of normal MVS/370 operating system
functions through use  of the Special Real  Time Operating System
Version 2.
o A  special  data  base  management  system  ensures  data  base
integrity  and performance  under  the  demands of  an  operating
industrial plant.
o Application enabling  and decision assist  functions facilitate
installability, including:
- Program development using PL/1 and FORTRAN high level languages
for customer written programs.
- File building and variable definitions
- Report writing
- Schematics through the Interactive  Schematic Builder Version 2
licensed program.
- Color graphics through the Advanced Control System Host Support
Version 2 Display Management Subsystem.
- Performance history
o Three usage charges to  choose  from  dependent  on  the number
of process inputs desired:
1.  500  or less process inputs
2.  501  to 2500 process inputs
3.  2501 to 44,000 process inputs
o Permits low cost entry and staged installation
o Can be upgraded to the Advanced  Control System Version 2 plant
operations management system through  feature code specification.

ADVANCED CONTROL SYSTEM VERSION 2
The  Advanced  Control  System    environment  provides  all  the
features  of  the  Realtime Plant  Management  System,  with  the
following additions:
o Automatic,  computer  process control  through  direct  on-line
realtime interfaces to plant equipment and instrument systems.
o Process control strategies
o Bumpless coupling to the plant instrumentation
o In  addition to  automatic process  control, manual  (operator)
outputs are supported.
o Two usage  charges to  choose from dependent  on the  number of
outputs desired:
1.  1 to 75 process outputs
2.  76 to 44,000 process outputs
LICENSED PROGRAMS
The Realtime Plant Management System  and Advanced Control System
Host Support  Version 2  are made  up of  the following  licensed
programs.
ADVANCED CONTROL SYSTEM HOST SUPPORT VERSION 2
o Based  on  Advanced  Control  System  Host  Support  Version  1
(5799-BEJ).
o Modified to run in a MVS/370 environment
o Available  in three  system sizes  based on  number of  process
inputs. See highlights of Realtime Plant Management System above.
o Available in  two additional  system sizes  based on  number of
process  outputs  under  automatic  control.  See  highlights  of
Advanced Control System Version 2.
SIGNAL INTERFACE VERSION 2
o Based  on  Advanced  Control System  Signal  Interface  Support

Version 1 (5799-BEW).
INTERACTIVE SCHEMATIC BUILDER VERSION 2
o Based on Interactive Schematic Builder Version 1 (5799-CAF)
o Modified to run in a MVS/370 environment
SPECIAL REAL TIME OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION 2

DESCRIPTION OF LICENSED PROGRAMS
The  Advanced Control  System Version  2 and  the Realtime  Plant
Management  System are  two plant  operations management  systems
made up  of a  family of  licensed programs  providing integrated
modules  which execute  in a  MVS/370  environment. The  licensed
programs are:  Advanced Control  System Host  Support Version  2,
Signal Interface Version 2, Interactive Schematic Builder Version
2,  and  Special  Real  Time   Operating  System  Version  2.   A
description of the licensed programs follows.
ADVANCED CONTROL SYSTEM HOST SUPPORT VERSION 2
There are five  features associated with Advanced  Control System
Host Support Version 2.
Three of the five features delineate the system size based on the
number  of  process  inputs desired.  These  three  features  are
identified  as  Realtime  Plant  Management  System  tiers.   The
Realtime Plant  Management System  usage tiers  provide a  system
with automatic  process inputs and  with manual  process outputs.
Realtime Plant  Management System Usage Tier  1 is a  system with
500 or  less process  inputs.  Realtime  Plant Management  System
Usage Tier  2 is a system  with 501 through 2500  process inputs.
Realtime Plant  Management System  Usage Tier Usage  Tier 3  is a
system with  2501 through  44,000 process  inputs.  The  Realtime
Plant Management  System usage  tiers have  varying prices,  with
Usage Tier 1 being the least expensive.
In  addition  to  the  three  Realtime  Plant  Management  System
features, two additional features delineate the system size based
on the number of process outputs  desired. These two features are
identified as Advanced  Control System usage tiers.  The Advanced
Control  System   usage  tiers  provide  process   outputs  under
automatic or manual control.  Advanced  Control System Usage Tier
1 is a system of 1 to 75 process outputs. Advanced Control System
Usage Tier  2 is a system  of 76 through 44,000  process outputs.
The Advanced  Control System usage  tiers have  different prices,
with Usage Tier 1 being the least expensive.
One of  the three  Realtime Plant  Management System  usage tiers
must be selected to indicate the system size.
In addition, one  of the two Advanced Control  System usage tiers
must be selected if automatic process outputs are desired.
The Advanced  Control System  Host Support  Version 2  plant-wide
information, monitoring and control system provides the following
functions:
o Interactive Man-Machine Communication
The system  utilizes the IBM 3270  family of displays  to provide
monochromatic and/or  color graphic  display of  process variable
information, operating  targets, performance or  response graphs,
and process schematics.
o Expandable Interface to Process Signals
Process  signals are  interfaced utilizing  the Signal  Interface
program through from 1 to 15 Series/1 Systems.
o Real Time Data Base References to the data base are by symbolic
name with identifying data element. The data in the data base are
updated cyclically or  as modified and checkpoints  of the entire
data base are taken on a cyclic basis.
o Historical Information
Several types of historical information are maintained, including
current value,  hourly averages, shift averages,  daily averages,
run times  by shift, day,  week, total  to date, shift  and daily
accumulations for  rate type signals,  all alarm  conditions time
stamped, all console change activity time stamped.
o Control  Strategy Flexibility  (this  is  part of  an  Advanced
Control System feature only)
Changes in  control strategy  can be  accomplished on-line  while
maintaining control integrity.
o High-Level Language Interface
FORTRAN and PL/1  can be used to augment  the standard facilities
of Advanced  Control System  Host Support  Version 2.  High-Level
language interfaces  have been  provided for  these languages  to
permit full access  to the data bases, as well  as other Advanced
Control System Host Support Version 2 facilities.
o Interface with other applications
All of  the functions  available under  the standard  IBM MVS/370
operating  system  are   available  to  the  user.   This  allows
interfaces to other applications.
o Simulation and Training
The host licensed program can be installed prior to connection of
signals  to  the   process  and  provide  early   preparation  of
management  an   process  strategies,  as  well  as  training  of
management, operators and engineers.
SIGNAL INTERFACE VERSION 2
The Signal Interface Version 2 is a communication gateway between
plant  instrumentation  and  the  Advanced  Control  System  Host
Support Version 2 product. The following functions are included:
o Communication between  host and  instrument system  I/O Drivers
(IODs).
o IOD for natively attached Series/1 process I/O
o 'Skeleton IOD' (a commented sample I/O Driver)
o Supervision and control and other services for IODs
Cyclic queues for status monitoring and diagnostics
Data conversions from  various forms to a  standard form accepted
by Advanced Control System Host Support Version 2.
Work  request   control  block   pool  with   associated  queuing
facilities.
Exits for initialization
o MVS program library
The Signal Interface Version 2 program product libraries are kept
on the host system.
o Data set transfer from host to IBM Series/1 via channel attach
(In conjunction with Advanced Control System Host Support Version
2) Facilitates host program preparation  and storage for IODs and
other IOP programs.
o Text transaction facility
(In conjunction with Advanced Control System Host Support Version
2) Provides  communication between user  programs running  in the
host product and user-provided I/O  drivers running in the Signal
Interface product.
INTERACTIVE SCHEMATIC BUILDER VERSION 2
The Interactive Schematic  Builder Version 2 is a  set of modules
which allows a process control engineer to build plant schematics
in an online interactive environment.
SPECIAL REAL TIME OPERATING SYSTEM VERSION 2
The  Special Real  Time Operating  System Version  2 consists  of
extensions  for   a  MVS/370   operating  system   which  provide
operations which are required by a realtime environment.
The following functions are included:
o Task Management
Independent  task management  allows  a task  to  be created  and
remain in existence when its processing is finished.
o Time Management
Time management services fall into  two categories.  First system
time and  date is  maintained independently of  the MVS  time and
date.  Second, time  management  services  provide the  user  the
capability of  entering a work  request to  a specific task  at a
selected time.
o Message Handling
The realtime  message handler allows  messages that the  user has
previously defined off-line to be accessed on demand.
o Data Base Services
Data base  services maintain a data  base in virtual  storage and
direct access storage.  The services also allow the  data base to
be accessed independently by several tasks.
o Resource Management
Efficient facilities for management of virtual storage work space
and resource locking are provided.
o Error Recovery
Error recovery  provides selective termination  of units  of work
for failing tasks.
o Data Recording and Playback
Record and  playback features  provide services  for the  user to
define data that can be recorded  on tape or direct access device
during realtime execution.
o Input Message Processing
An  input message  processor function  is provided  to allow  for
operator communication.
o High Level Language Interface
An interface is provided that allows  the user to program in PL/1
or FORTRAN  and request selected  services through  the interface
program.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT FOR ADVANCED CONTROL  SYSTEM HOST
SUPPORT VERSION 2
MACHINE REQUIREMENTS
The minimum machine configuration required to compile and execute
the Advanced Control System Host Support Version 2 program is the
minimum system required to support  the required MVS/SP operating
system described in -- Heading id 'progreq' unknown --.
Some functions of Advanced Control  System Host Support Version 2
use Common Service  Area (CSA) storage for  communication between
the master  Advanced Control  System job  and the  slave Advanced
Control System job,  in which user programs are run.  If a master
and a slave job  are used, a minimum of 20K bytes  of CSA will be
obtained.  Additional  CSA  may  be requested  for  use  by  user
programs  running  under  Advanced Control  System  Host  Support
Version  2.   If  only   a master  job  is run,  no  CSA will  be
required.
A minimum of  four disk access mechanisms is  required to prevent
contention by the major subsystems, for example:
o Operating system pack
o Paging dataset
o Realtime log arrays
o Disk resident database arrays
Approximately 172  megabytes of  disk storage,  exclusive of  the
operating  system   and  Special   Real  Time   Operating  System
requirements,  are required  for product  libraries for  Advanced
Control  System  Host Support  Version  2.  The exact  amount  of
storage required depends  on the type of disk  storage devices to
be used.
The Advanced Control System Host Support  Version 2 data base and
other data  sets used  by the realtime  job use  approximately 57
megabytes of  disk storage if  allocated with the  system default
sizes.  However,  data  base   sizes  vary  considerably  between
installations. As much as one disk volume may be used for history
data storage.
The following is the minimum recommended channel configuration:
o A byte multiplexer channel (channel  0) for the system console,
printer, readers.
o 1 or  2 block  multiplexer channels  for direct  access storage
devices.
o 1 block multiplexer channel for display devices
o 1  block   multiplexer  channel  for  a   channel-attached  IBM
Series/1.
o 1  block  multiplexer  channel  for   tape  drives  for  system
maintenance and disk backup.
At least one complete control unit position on an IBM S/370 block
multiplexer  channel is  required for  each channel-attached  IBM
Series/1.
At least one  nine-track 1600 or 6250 bpi  (bits/inch) tape drive
or  one  IBM   3480  Tape  Subsystem  is   required  for  program
installation and maintenance. It may also be used for disk backup
and other user functions.
A line printer is required for system and maintenance functions.
A standard operating system console is required.
The IBM  3270 family  of displays and  printers are  supported as
console devices.  Display devices which  allow the loading  of at
least two  programmed symbol sets  are required for  some display
types, such as faceplates and plots.
RPQ backlit function switch panel  devices consisting of the RPQs
listed below are  supported. These RPQs require  IBM 3279 display
devices and  IBM 3274 controllers. They  may not be  supported by
all models of IBM 3279s and IBM 3274s, however.
o Backlit Switch Panel RPQ 7J0048
o Switch Panel Extension RPQ 7J0049
o Switch Panel Interface RPQ 7J0047, which is a modification to a
IBM 3279 display unit.
o Switch  Panel  Microcode  Support RPQ  7J0046,  which  provides
support in the IBM 3274 controller.
PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS
The Advanced Control System Host Support  Version 2 runs with the
following IBM software:
o Operating  system: Operating System/Virtual  Storage 2 (OS/VS2)
Release 3.8, 5752-VS2,  with MVS/System Product -  JES2 Version 1
Release 3.3, 5740-XYS, and requisite products.
System  Modification  Program   (SMP)  Release  4  is   used  for
installation  and maintenance  of  Advanced  Control System  Host
Support Version 2.
o Special Real Time Operating System Version 2, 5665-432
Signal  Interface Version  2, 5665-431  is required  in order  to
interface with  plant instruments.  Advanced Control  System Host
Support Version 2 may be used  without Signal Interface Version 2
for some simulation or educational purposes where no interface to
plant instrumentation is required.
Other products  which may be used  to provide inputs  to Advanced
Control System Host Support Version 2 are as follows:
o Interactive  Schematic  Builder  Version   2,  5665-429,  which
provides an on-line  method of generating schematic  displays for
use with Advanced Control System Host Support Version 2.
The  following language  compilers may  be used  to produce  user
programs  which  use  interface  routines  provided  by  Advanced
Control System Host Support Version 2.
o VS/FORTRAN 5748-F03
o OS PL/I Optimizing Compiler 5734-PL3
SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT FOR SIGNAL INTERFACE VERSION 2
MACHINE REQUIREMENTS
A IBM Series/1  machine configuration is required  to execute the
Signal  Interface Version  2 program.  The IBM  Series/1 must  be
channel-attached  to the  host  computer  in which  the  Advanced
Control System Host  Support Version 2 program  product executes.
Multiple IBM Series/1s may be attached to one host.
The  minimum  IBM  Series/1  configuration  required  for  Signal
Interface Version 2 execution contains the following components:
o An IBM 4956 Processor
A minimum  of 96K  bytes of  memory is  used by  Signal Interface
Version  2  plus  I/O  driver(s)  and  tables  for  one  or  more
instrument interfaces.
The IBM  Series/1 processor must also  have a timer  device which
may be either of:
- The clock/comparator  which is  a standard  feature on  the IBM
4956 models C and 30D.
- IBM 7840 Timer Channel Feature
o Disk and/or diskette device(s)
At least  one IBM  Series/1 in an  installation requires  disk or
diskette devices  sufficient to  permit installation  of the  EDX
supervisor  using the  EDX Program  Preparation Facility  program
product. The other IBM Series/1's in an installation are required
to have a minimum of one diskette.
Disk and diskette devices which are supported are as follows:
- IBM 4962 Disk Storage Unit
- IBM 4963 Disk Subsystem
- IBM 4964 Diskette Unit
- The integrated 30 megabyte disk which  is a standard feature of
the IBM 4956 Processor, Model 30D.
o One display unit,  which may be any device supported  as an EDX
$SYSLOG device.
o IBM 4993 Series/1-System/370 Termination Enclosure
This is the  device used to attach  the IBM Series/1 to  the host
channel.
The Signal Interface Version 2 Native I/O Driver supports the IBM
4982  Sensor Input/Output  Unit for  native  attachment of  plant
devices.
The Signal  Interface Version 2  Native I/O Driver  also supports
pulse  counters  implemented  with the  IBM  7840  Timer  Channel
Feature. An  IBM 7840 used as  the IBM Series/1 timer  device may
not also be used as a pulse counter, however.
An IBM 4959  Input/Output Expansion Unit is  supported for sensor
I/O attachment. Whether it is required in a configuration depends
on the number of IBM Series/1 feature cards selected.
The product libraries  require approximately 9 megabytes  of disk
storage  on the  host system,  exclusive of  the requirement  for
Advanced Control System Host Support Version 2. The exact storage
requirement depends on the type of disk storage devices used.
Approximately 4  megabytes of  disk storage  is required  for the
minimum sized  data sets to  be used  in host preparation  of the
Signal Interface Version 2 programs and  I/O drivers for one IOP.
For each additional IOP, a minimum  of 1 megabyte additional disk
storage is required. The exact amount required will vary with the
type of disk storage  used and the size of I/O  drivers which are
installed.
At least one  nine-track 1600 or 6250 bpi  (bits/inch) tape drive
or one IBM 3480 Tape Subsystem is required on the host system for
program installation  and maintenance.  It may  also be  used for
disk backup and other user functions.
PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS
The following IBM  software is required for each  IBM Series/1 on
which Signal Interface Version 2 executes.
o IBM Series/1  Event Driven Executive Basic  Supervisor 5719-XS4
or 5719-XS5.
o IBM Series/1  Event Driven Executive System/370  Channel Attach
5719-CX1.
The  EDX Program  Preparation Facility  5719-XX5  or 5719-XX6  is
required on each IBM Series/1 on which EDX program preparation is
to be  done. This  may be every  IBM Series/1 or  only one  in an
installation.
The following IBM software is required on the host system:
o Advanced Control System Host Support Version 2 5665-430
o IBM System/370  Program Preparation  Facility for  IBM Series/1
5799-BNA.
o IBM Series/1 Event Driven Executive Macro Library Host 5740-LM5
or 5740-LM6.
o Host  operating  system:  Operating  System/Virtual  Storage  2
(OS/VS2) Release  3.8, 5752-VS2, with  MVS/System Product  - JES2
Version 1 Release 3.3, 5740-XYS, and requisite products.
System  Modification  Program   (SMP)  Release  4  is   used  for
installation and maintenance of Signal Interface Version 2.
SPECIFIED OPERATING ENVIRONMENT FOR INTERACTIVE SCHEMATIC BUILDER
VERSION 2
MACHINE REQUIREMENTS
The minimum machine configuration required to compile and execute
the  Interactive  Schematic  Builder Version  2  program  is  the
minimum configuration capable of  supporting the MVS/SP operating
system described in -- Heading id 'isbreq' unknown --.
Interactive  Schematic  Builder  Version  2  requires  no  Common
Service Area (CSA) storage.
Interactive  Schematic Builder  Version  2  is installed  in  the
Advanced Control System Host Support Version 2 product libraries;
no  additional  storage  is required  for  Interactive  Schematic
Builder Version 2  product installation. At least  6 megabytes of
disk storage should be allocated for schematic display libraries.
The size of  these libraries depends on the  number of schematics
required for an installation and the type of disk storage used.
At least one  nine-track 1600 or 6250 bpi  (bits/inch) tape drive
or  one  IBM   3480  Tape  Subsystem  is   required  for  program
installation and maintenance. It may also be used for disk backup
and other user functions.
A line printer is required for system and maintenance functions.
A standard operating system console is required.
The  IBM 3270  family of  displays and  other compatible  display
devices are supported.  Display  devices which allow  the loading
of  at  least  two  programmed  symbol  sets  are   required  for
schematic definition.
PROGRAMMING REQUIREMENTS
The  Interactive  Schematic  Builder  Version  2  runs  with  the
following IBM software:
o Operating system:  Operating System/Virtual Storage  2 (OS/VS2)
Release 3.8, 5752-VS2,  with MVS/System Product -  JES2 Version 1
Release 3.3, 5740-XYS, and requisite products.
System  Modification  Program   (SMP)  Release  4  is   used  for
installation  and maintenance  of  Interactive Schematic  Builder
Version 2.
o Special Real Time Operating System Version 2, 5665-432
o Advanced Control System Host Support Version 2, 5665-430

MACHINE REQUIREMENTS
The minimum machine configuration required to compile and execute
the Special Real Time Operating System  Version  2 program is the
minimum  required   for  running  the  MVS/SP   operating  system
described in -- Heading id 'srtosr' unknown --.
SRTOS acquires  a minimum  of 20K  bytes of  Common Service  Area
(CSA) storage  space in a master  and slave job  environment.  If
only one  job is used, no  CSA is required.  Applications running
under SRTOS Version 2 may have additional CSA requirements.
S/370  disk  storage  devices with  'count-key-data'  format  are
required.
A  minimum of  four disk  access mechanisms  is  recommended   to
prevent contention by the major subsystems, for example:
o Operating system pack
o Paging dataset
o Data base log arrays
o Disk resident data base arrays
Approximately  24 megabytes  of disk  storage,  exclusive of  the
operating   system  requirements,   are   required  for   product
libraries. Approximately  7 additional megabytes are  required if
optional source  is installed.  This does  not include  any space
required  for an  application  data   base which  is built  using
SRTOS Version 2.  SRTOS Version 2 requires at  least 1.1 megabyte
of  data base  space  for its  use; however,  that  space may  be
included in an  application data base. Storage  requirements will
vary depending on the type of disk storage used.

o OS PL/I Optimizing Compiler 5734-PL3
COMPATIBILITY
These products use only existing attachment interfaces.
Advanced Control System Host Support Version 2 was developed from
and  contains  the  functions previously  contained  in  Advanced
Control System  Host Support (5799-BEJ). Advanced  Control System
Host Support Version 2 runs under the MVS/370 operating system.
Signal Interface  Version 2 was  developed from and  contains the
functions previously contained in  Advanced Control System Signal
Interface Support. Signal Interface Version  2 runs in a Series/1
under  the  EDX  operating system.  Signal  Interface  Version  2
operates in  conjunction with  the Advanced  Control System  Host
Support Version 2.
Interactive Schematic  Builder Version 2  was developed  from and
contains  the  functions  previously   contained  in  Interactive
Schematic Builder.  Interactive Schematic Builder Version  2 runs
within the realtime Advanced Control System Version 2 or Realtime
Plant Management System job, under the MVS/370 operating system.
Special Real Time  Operating System Version 2  was developed from
and contains the  functions previously contained in  Special Real
Time Operating  System, with the exception  of checkpoint/restart
facility  and probe/monitor  function,  which  has been  deleted.
Special  Real Time  Operating  System Version  2  runs under  the
MVS/370 operating system.
PERFORMANCE CONSIDERATIONS
The performance of a given  installation depends on many factors,
some of which are external factors under the user's control, such
as I/O drivers. The most  meaningful performance criteria for the
Advanced Control System  Version 2 and Realtime  Plant Management
System products are  the number of inputs and  outputs per second
and the display response on process operator displays.
The  Advanced Control  System  Version 2  or  the Realtime  Plant
Management   System  running   in  a   minimum   host  with   one
minimum-sized Series/1 will be able to  process a minimum  of 100
full value variables per second, with process inputs. In addition
if an Advanced Control System usage tier 1 or an Advanced Control
System  usage tier  2 feature  is  installed, it  will support  a
minimum of 25 process outputs per second.
A minimum  system running  a processing  load as  described above
will be able to support 5  locally attached 3279 or 3179G display
units in use simultaneously and provide a visible response within
2 seconds on process operator displays.
PLANNING INFORMATION
CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITIES
The  customer  must   provide  at  least  the   minimum  hardware
configuration in  which the  software offerings  in the  Advanced
Control System Version 2 or  the Realtime Plant Management system
will operate.  The customer must also provide I/O drivers for the
instrument  systems  they  want  to   install.  The  customer  is
responsible for installing and  maintaining the MVS/370 operating
system and other pre-requisite software. It is the responsibility
of  Advanced  Control   System  Version  2  and   Realtime  Plant
Management System customers to assign  and train personnel in the
areas of planning, installing, maintaining, and administering the
licensed programs.   Additional planning information is  found in

SH20-0395-00.
PACKAGING
Advanced Control System Host Support  Version 2 is packaged using
System  Modification  Program  (SMP) Release  4  and  shipped  on
magnetic tape or cartridge.
Signal Interface Version 2 is  packaged using System Modification
Program  (SMP)  Release  4  and   shipped  on  magnetic  tape  or
cartridge.  A Series/1  diskette,  which  contains the  data  set
transfer program, is also shipped.
Interactive Schematic Builder Version 2  is packaged using System
Modification Program (SMP) Release 4 and shipped on magnetic tape
or cartridge.
Special Real  Time Operating System  Version 2 is  packaged using
System  Modification  Program  (SMP) Release  4  and  shipped  on
magnetic tape or cartridge.
SYSTEM INTEGRITY
IBM  will accept  APARs where  the installation  of the  Advanced
Control  System Host  Support  Version  2, Interactive  Schematic
Builder Version 2, or Special  Real Time Operating System Version
2 program causes an exposure to  the system integrity of MVS/370.

SECURITY, AUDITABILITY, AND CONTROL
Advanced  Control  System  Host Support  Version  2,  Interactive
Schematic  Builder Version  2, and  Special  Real Time  Operating
System Version  2 use the  security and auditability  features of
MVS/370.
In  addition, Advanced  Control  System  Host Support  Version  2
provides:
o Engineering  authorization   for  those  functions   which  the
engineer alone must access.
o Auditability of  the Function  Change History,  Activity Status
Log, Alarm History, and Operator Message History.
User  management is  responsible for  evaluation, selection,  and
implementation of  security features,  administration procedures,
and appropriate controls in application systems and communication
facilities.
