This document contains specifications for a math library that takes advantage of the Single Instruction, Multiple Data (SIMD) instructions provided by the PowerPC Processor Unit (PPU) and the Synergistic Processor Unit (SPU) hardware of the Cell BE. By computing multiple results at one time, SIMD math functions allow programmers to obtain much higher performance from their PPU and SPU programs than would be possible from a corresponding traditional scalar math library.
