IBM Blue Gene® is a family of supercomputers optimized for bandwidth, scalability and the ability to handle large amounts of data. Yet it consumes a fraction of the power and floor space required by other systems. As of November 7, 2004, Blue Gene ranks as the number one supercomputer on the TOP500 list. IBM designed the massively parallel Blue Gene solution for scientific applications such as biological research, weather forecasting, simulations and modeling. Available in configurations ranging from one to 64 racks, Blue Gene is suitable for high-performance computing applications across a variety of disciplines.
