DB2 for Linux

DB2 enables you to access, manage and analyze all information across the enterprise, whether your data resides on Linux, Unix, Windows or many other platforms.

Linux is becoming a major platform for database and application servers. DB2 for Linux gives you a robust, easy-to-manage database offering high performance, stability and reliability. Together, DB2 and Linux are the building blocks for success in e-business.

DB2 is the software platform for thousands of business applications. Thanks to open standards, a DB2 application can be written once, then recompiled for deployment anywhere. Your investment in application code and employee skills remains secure.

DB2 is the most scalable object-relational database on the market. An application can run on a handheld with DB2 EveryPlace on Linux, scale up to Linux server clusters, then on upward to Linux enterprise servers.

DB2 for Linux is:
  • Flexible — DB2 implements open standards such as SQL and XML and runs on Linux from handhelds to clusters to mainframes
  • Reliable — DB2 for Linux is based on its proven reliability running on Unix and Windows
  • Cost Effective — DB2’s cross-platform portability protects the enterprise's skills investment and enables flexible hardware choices; DB2 management tools provide easier database administration

The DB2 family includes the following offerings for Linux (visit the DB2 for Linux page to learn more):
