IBM WebSphere Business Modeler is a comprehensive business modeling and
business process management (BPM) design tool. V6.1 is focused on
improving the overall end-to-end BPM experience.

BPM interoperability enhancements
— Enable Business Modeler to work more effectively with the IBM BPM
product stack and provide tighter integration with those core products.

Improved traceability between Business Modeler and WebSphere Integration
Developer — This new feature allows for users to trace changes through
the development lifecycle of Business Modeler and WebSphere Integration
Developer. Users can introduce changes from WebSphere Integration
Developer into the Business Modeler and determine how to best synchronize
the BPM artifacts.

Improved integration with IBM FileNet P8 — Business Modeler enables the
generation of a comprehensive set of artifacts including XML Process
Definition Language (XPDL) for the FileNet P8 engine allowing for
Business Modeler to be the complete BPM design tool for all of IBM BPM
solutions.

Support for human tasks — In addition to the existing support for human
activities, Business Modeler has a new human task definition that can be
used to reflect tasks performed by people in the runtime engines. This
new task definition allows for the complete definition of a human task,
including staff assignments, escalations, and notifications.

Human task visualization via Lotus® Workplace eForms integration — As
part of the human task support, users can use the Lotus Workplace eForms
designer to sketch user interfaces associated to the human tasks.

Rational Data Architect integration — Business Modeler also integrates
with Rational Data Architect sharing data definitions to and from
Rational Data Architect in order to ensure tight linkage of business
processes and data.

BPM process definition enhancements
streamline product and feature integration that jump start and improve
BPM projects.

Business rules support — Business Modeler has a new task object that
depicts business rules as part of a process definitions. Users can
define business rules and rule groups to deploy directly on WebSphere
Process Server.

Provide support for predefined process monitoring measures — As part of
defining the business process for BPM deployment, users can enable
predefined monitoring metrics such as durations during process
definition. These predefined metrics can be seamlessly used in the
WebSphere Monitor model editor as a pattern and implemented within
WebSphere Business Monitor.

BPM analysis enhancements
improves comprehensive BPM analysis determine to resource utilization
across multiple process instances. You can simulate resources (such as
roles and individual resources) across multiple process instances and
calculate resource utilizations, in order to simulate real life business
situations.

Business user productivity (usability) enhancements
enable business analysts to create and analyze models faster and more
effectively.

Support business item state changes — Users can document business
states on a business item. These states are reflected via a description
or a graphical icon.

Ability to export reports to Microsoft Office — Users now have the
option to export predefined and user-defined reports in Microsoft Word
format to effectively share information from Business Modeler across an
organization.

Ability to copy and paste multiple elements between processes — In
addition to the existing copy and paste features, users can now use the
marquee tool available as part of the Business Modeler palette to copy
and paste model elements across different processes.

Improve management of large models within and across modeling projects:
This feature allows users to work effectively across groups and teams.
Elements from different modeling projects can be shared and referenced
across projects in order to ensure synchronization, as well as to
evaluate element re-use during modeling.
WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced
bridges the gap between line of business and IT. It provides robust
functionality for process modeling, enterprise modeling, essential data
and artifact modeling, organization modeling, resource modeling, timeline
and location modeling, and business process analysis. Modeler is

With WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced, business and IT communities
utilize an Eclipse-based shared workspace. BPEL and FDL allow you to

stop at developing flow diagrams or process maps. With WebSphere
Business Modeler Advanced, the effort is extended to include simulation,
analysis, and redesign.
WebSphere Business Modeler Basic
is a low-cost entry edition providing basic modeling to capture data.
The Basic Edition is for enterprise departments and individual users not
requiring the full capabilities of WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced.
WebSphere Business Modeler Basic is used for modeling, validation, and
documentation. All three modeling modes (basic, intermediate, and
advanced) are available. Once the models are entered, the validation
rules still apply; however, WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced is needed
to utilize the simulation engine and analysis. The reporting tool and
the complete set of static documentation reports are available in this
base release. The models can be captured, validated, and documented in
this version. WebSphere Business Modeler Advanced is needed to run
simulations and export to the multiple code generation tools. WebSphere
Business Modeler Basic provides an easy-to-use tool at an affordable
price.

IBM warrants that when the program is used in the specified
operating environment, it will conform to its specifications. The
warranty applies only to the unmodified portion of the program. IBM does

IBM provides you with access to IBM databases containing information on
known program defects, defect corrections, restrictions, and bypasses at

IBM will maintain this information for at least one year after the
original licensee acquires the program (warranty period).
Program technical support:
Technical support of a program product will be available for a
minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as
your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows
you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for
product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and
operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you
with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. You will
be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support with
12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from IBM,
including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date, contact
your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension may be
available for a fee.
Money-back guarantee:
If for any reason you are dissatisfied with the program and you are
the original licensee, you may obtain a refund of the amount you paid for
it, if within 30 days of your invoice date you return the program and its
PoE to the party from whom you obtained it. If you downloaded the
program, you may contact the party from whom you acquired it for
instructions on how to obtain the refund.
