These products expand the overall IBM Information Management portfolio by further strengthening its

WebSphere Federation Server V9.1
WebSphere Federation Server supports a form of integration called Enterprise Information Integration
(EII). It enables applications to access and integrate diverse data and content sources as if they
were a single resource — regardless of where the information resides — while retaining the
autonomy and integrity of the data and content sources.
WebSphere Federation Server offers integrated views of a wide range of heterogeneous data and
content sources (refer to the
Supported data sources
topic in the
Technical requirements
section). Applications use a standard SQL interface or standard APIs to query content and data
sources. WebSphere Federation Server fits neatly and transparently behind common analytical and
reporting tools, development environments, portals, and other standard IT infrastructure components.
For instance, business applications access integrated views of existing and new information through
an abstraction layer that insulates them from changes in the source material they are viewing.
V9.1 represents a major milestone for IBM Information Integration. It addresses a broader range of
data integration requirements.
New features
Support for DB2 V9.1 XML
— Federation supports key capabilities in DB2 V9.1 such as native XML Support. Federation can
access native DB2 XML data types and combine them with data from other sources.
Customer benefit — Transparent integration of XML data with SQL data from many data sources will
allow users to create a simpler view of their information infrastructure reducing programming costs
and enabling quicker delivery of needed business information.
Federated two-phase commit
— Multi-site update functionality for federated transactions via the industry-standard X/Open XA
protocol is provided. Federated two-phase commit processing for DB2, MS SQL Server, Informix™,
Oracle, and Sybase CTLIB data sources in a serial environment through trusted wrappers is supported.
Customer benefit — There are many business events within an enterprise that require updates to
multiple data sources to be synchronized and changes must be applied together across the data
sources or not at all. Examples include:

Financial services — Transferring money for a customer from one product line to another
-
Supply chain management — Transferring goods from one location to another where inventory tracking
is done by multiple systems
In these scenarios the business situation demands that updates to two or more data sources must be
transactionally consistent. Federated two-phase commit enables the data in multiple data sources to
be updated in a single command without any additional middleware or complex coding.
Federated stored procedures
— This feature allows the federated system to access stored procedures at remote data sources.
Stored procedures with zero or a single result set from Oracle and Sybase are supported.
Customer benefit — A stored procedure is a program, which is physically stored within a database.
A common use is the encapsulation of commonly used tasks that might involve complex SQL queries.
Using federated stored procedures allows any stored procedure already developed to be part of a
query. This saves the user a lot of work because they reuse procedures already stored in the
system. This will be especially beneficial to Sybase and Oracle users as stored procedures are
widely used within these database environments.
Error tolerant nested table expression
— The user will be allowed to specify certain SQL errors to be tolerated. When one of the errors
is encountered within an SQL query, instead of terminating the whole query, the error is tolerated
and the rest of the query continues so that partial or empty results can be returned. Tolerating
remote connection, authorization and authentication errors in the federated systems will be the
focus for this release.
Customer benefit — In some environments successfully combining data from multiple data centers can
be a hit or miss situation. For example, imagine a global enterprise that created a query that
spans several countries gathering data from multiple subsidiaries. What are the chances one
location will have an unavailable system? Error-tolerant, nested table expressions allow the user to
execute a query against multiple databases and gather data from the databases which are available
rather than aborting due to network or authentication errors.
Alternate repository for user mappings
— A user may provide their own executable using the Java™ plug-in framework architecture that
interfaces with the desired repository for user mappings. A sample plug-in for accessing user
mappings stored using Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP).
Customer benefit — This allows a user to leverage their investment in their existing security
infrastructure. Users with specific access rights can be mapped to database user ids with the
appropriate rights. This eliminates the need to setup redundant user information in the Federation
Server and gives users a single place to go to for user authentication changes.
Simple GUI to design, deploy, and generate federated databases
— All customers will be entitled to two concurrent user licenses of IBM Rational® Data
Architect. IBM Rational Data Architect is an enterprise data modeling and integration design tool.
Customer benefit — The user can easily discover, visualize, design and deploy their V9 federated
databases using a simple, Eclipse-based GUI.

This release introduces updated packaging that more closely aligns the product offerings with
customer demands. Federation technology was previously available as part of the WebSphere

WebSphere Federation Server V9 incompatibilities with previous releases

Access to Documentum sources is no longer provided by WebSphere Federation Server.

Access to data via Lotus® Extended Search is no longer provided by WebSphere Federation Server.
These data sources can be accessed from WebSphere Federation Server when using WebSphere Information
Integrator Content Edition and the provided WebSphere Information Integrator Content Edition
wrapper.
WebSphere Replication Server V9.1
WebSphere Replication Server distributes, consolidates, and synchronizes data for high availability,
high throughput, and business continuity. Two approaches are provided for asynchronous log-based
data replication:

SQL-based replication
-
Q replication
These approaches can be used independently or together for maximum flexibility and function.
V9.1 strengthens the previously available SQL and Q replication offering with significant
performance improvements for increased scalability and many enhancements that simplify
administration and monitoring for Q replication. In addition, a new Q replication target
type (Consistent Changed Data tables (CCDs)) enables new solutions for auditing and analysis
applications and an opportunity for SQL replication customers to leverage the low latency and higher
throughput of Q replication for more of their workload.
SQL-based replication
— For heterogeneous database environments, WebSphere Replication Server includes SQL-based
replication which maximizes flexibility in managing scheduling, transformation and distribution
topologies for populating warehouses or marts. It also maintains data consistency between
applications and efficiently manages distribution and consolidation scenarios among headquarters and
branch or retail configurations.

Data can be filtered either horizontally or vertically so that only the data of interest is
replicated.
-
Transformation can be applied inline with the data movement via standard SQL expressions or stored
procedure execution.
-
Data movement can be automated on a specific schedule, at designated intervals, continuously, or
event-driven.
-
Data movement can be managed table-at-a-time such as for warehouse loading during a batch window or
with transaction consistency for data which is never offline.
-
DB2, Informix Dynamic Server, Microsoft™ SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase SQL Server, and Sybase
Adaptive Server Enterprises are supported as replication sources and targets. Informix Extended
Parallel Server and Teradata are supported as replication targets.
Q replication
— WebSphere Replication Server provides Q replication for low-latency, high-throughput
replication with managed conflict detection and resolution to support business continuity, workload
distribution, and application integration requirements.

Committed changes are published to WebSphere MQ message queues. A sophisticated apply engine
determines transaction dependencies and replays transactions on target systems to maximize
parallelism and minimize latency.
-
A rich set of conflict detection and resolution algorithms are available to allow backup systems to
do productive work so that application workload can be distributed across multiple servers.
-
Data can be filtered so that only the data of interest is replicated.
-
Stored procedures can be invoked by the apply engine in order to facilitate transformations for
application integration scenarios.
-
Automatic and high-performance load options are integrated. Because the work is made paralleled or
"parallelized," target data can be loaded at the same time changed data is being replicated.
-
Data can be replicated to and from DB2 databases and from DB2 databases to other relational database
management systems like Informix, Oracle, MS SQL Server, and Sybase.
New features
Performance
— The performance of Q replication data capture (Q Capture) is improved by providing
additional multi-threading. Log reading and the gathering of committed transactions is now
asynchronous to the rest of the data capture activities.
Customer benefit — This change helps performance in all environments and especially in DB2 for
z/OS® data sharing configurations and in partitioned environments for DB2 on Linux™, UNIX®,
and Windows™.
New replication target type
— Q replication can now be used to replicate data into uniquely structured target tables
(CCDs) that can be used for audit and history tables in the same way as can be done with SQL
replication.
Customer benefit — This new target type provides important new application capability for
Q replication customers. It also provides the opportunity for customers who use SQL
replication today to leverage the low latency and higher throughput characteristics of
Q replication for more of their workload.
Customization
— More flexibility is provided for managing storage requirements for loads in a Q replication
environment by allowing model queues to be defined at the subscription level.
Customer benefit — In addition to usability benefits, customers who have a high volume of changes
during load operations will likely experience increased scalability because of this enhancement.
Usability
— Lists of WebSphere MQ objects are presented when needed during setup, and can be used to check
these WebSphere MQ objects against the requirements of the Q replication engine program. The
Replication Alert Monitor is enhanced to let the user suspend the monitor program during specified
periods. A new live monitor tool graphically displays real-time latency and throughput information.
Users can see at a glance the current latency and throughput and replication program activity.
Customer benefit — These usability enhancements simplify the setup, administration, and management
for Q replication.
Interactive MQ Checklist
— This dynamic graphical checklist is used to set up the WebSphere MQ objects needed for
Q replication. Set-up scripts and a customized procedure for running the scripts are
automatically generated for use at each MQ server.
Customer benefit — These interactive checklists simplify configuration for Q replication.
This release introduces updated packaging that more closely aligns the product offerings with
customer demands. Replication technology was previously available as part of the WebSphere
Information Integrator Replication Edition, Standard Edition, Advanced Edition, and Advanced Edition

WebSphere Data Event Publisher V9.1
WebSphere Data Event Publisher facilitates business integration by linking changed-data events with
business processes. Changed-data events are captured and published as WebSphere MQ messages that
can be used by other applications and tools to drive subsequent processing.
WebSphere Data Event Publisher delivers efficient changed-data solutions for the following types of
business scenarios:

Application-to-application integration — Changes to operational customer data can be pushed to a
customer relationship management (CRM) application.
-
Business process initiation — Adding a customer record can initiate a new-customer workflow that
might include a welcome e-mail, credit verification and an update to the CRM system.
-
Critical data event monitoring — Changed-data event monitoring allows events such as low inventory
levels to be used to initiate related processes, such as product restocking.
-
Data population — Data changes in operational systems can be fed to WebSphere DataStage® or
another extract, transform, and load (ETL) product that then populates a data warehouse, data mart,
or operational data store with the changes.

WebSphere® Federation Server V9.1 — Additional new features
Write operations on DRDA® LOB (large object) data
— Insert and update operations on LOB columns will be supported for the DRDA wrapper.
Better integrated MQ UDF configuration
— There is no longer a need to install MQ Pub/Sub to deploy the publish/subscribe functions, since
the MQ Pub/Sub is now part of the new release of WebSphere MQ V6.0.
Additional communication protocols for nonrelational sources
— Additions or enhancements of IPv6, Secure Socket Layer (SSL), proxy support and HTTP
authentication are provided for those nonrelational wrappers and UDFs using TCPIP.
Oracle security label awareness
— The Oracle wrapper now officially supports Oracle Label Security (OLS) sources. It is also now
possible to prevent some remote data from being cached locally on the federated server in order to
protect it.
Platform and wrappers enhancements
Enhanced 64 bit platform support
— For Unix platforms V9.1 will now be available as a native 64-bit application.
Open Database Connectivity (ODBC) Source customization
— A new tool to help configure an ODBC source by verifying and setting a set of server options to
improve query performance.
ODBC wrapper tuning for classic federation
— Custom attributes and default function mappings for WebSphere Information Integrator Classic
Federation for z/OS® data sources are being added to the ODBC wrapper.
Script wrapper
— The Script wrapper is a new read-only wrapper that allows users to invoke a script to access a
data source, for example, an algorithm, and then integrate the XML data returned using the wrapper.
Function template pushdown enhancement
— The query compiler is enhanced with additional rewrite capability so that evaluation of function
templates (that is, data source custom functions) on predicates can be pushed down to the data
source.
Nonrelational CLOB column enhancement
— CLOB column can now be referenced in a predicate for Blast, HMMER and XML wrappers.
Performance enhancements
Asynchrony
— Total elapsed times can potentially be reduced for queries that have remote operations that can
be overlapped on a federated server which has the DB2® Data Partitioning Feature enabled.
Asynchrony optimization expends more resources to get better elapsed time. If the users' system has
idle resources, they can benefit from improved performance that asynchrony offers.

If you have an active Passport Advantage® maintenance contract for existing WebSphere Information

Hardware requirements
The exact configuration needed to support the customer's environment with satisfactory processing
time will vary depending on multiple factors. Processing times vary depending on server speed,
memory, and network and server workload. Minimum recommended configurations listed below need to be
evaluated and adjusted according to the customer's unique requirements. Disk space recommendations
below are for the product installation and working space only. The actual hard disk space required
varies, depending upon the customer's installation.
The minimum hardware requirement for WebSphere Federation Server, WebSphere Replication Server, or
WebSphere Data Event Publisher is defined by the supported operating systems. Refer to the
Software requirements
section for supported operating systems, with the following additional minimum hardware
requirements:

When running on x86 systems with 32-bit Windows or Linux: Intel® Pentium® 4, an Intel Xeon, AMD
Athlon, AMD Opteron CPU, or higher is required.

When running on x86-64 systems with 64-bit Windows or Linux, systems with Intel EM64T or AMD64
processors are required.

When running on AIX® and Linux for pSeries® and iSeries™, POWER4™ and POWER5™ CPUs are
required.

The minimum required memory is generally 256 MB. To determine the memory requirements for the

Additional disk space considerations

Consider the amount of necessary disk space on the federated server to manage any temporary tables
and sorts that exceed the available memory.

The disk space requirements vary depending on the customer's configuration and the type of disk
drive that the customer has. Significantly more disk space might be required on FAT drives with
large cluster sizes than New Technology File System (NTFS) drives.

Include required client software and communication products when the customer calculates the amount
of disk space that is needed for the customer's installation.

WebSphere Federation Server
The following terms apply to WebSphere Federation Server, and "the program" refers to the WebSphere
Federation Server license the customer has purchased.
Charge Metric: Computing environment, for production use or for non-production use
WebSphere Federation Server has a "Base" license and an "Additional Processor" license for each
computing environment where WebSphere Federation Server is installed.
Base — The Base for WebSphere Federation Server includes installation of the product module on the
first 2 processors on a particular server or computing environment.
Additional Processor — An Additional Processor is a Processor, in addition to the Processor(s)
included in the Base, on a particular server or computing environment where WebSphere Federation
Server is installed.
A computing environment means either (a) one physical computer, or (b) two or more physical
computers or computer partitions that are linked by a network and that operate together on the same
workloads as if they were a single computer.
The program may be licensed for production use or non-production use. If the customer has acquired
the program for production use, the customer may also separately acquire the program for
non-production use by contacting IBM or its reseller to obtain the appropriate licenses.
Non-production use includes, but is not limited to, use for development, test, or quality assurance
purposes. The customer's license for non-production use does not grant the customer a license to
use the program for processing production data and transferring the resulting data to production
business systems.
Customers who upgrade from IBM Homogeneous Federation Feature for DB2 Databases V9.1 to the
WebSphere Federation Server do not require a Base license. This upgrade only requires one
Additional Processor license for each processor being upgraded to the WebSphere Federation Server.
WebSphere Replication Server and WebSphere Data Event Publisher
The following terms apply to WebSphere Replication Server and WebSphere Data Event Publisher. In
these license terms, "the program" refers to the product whose license the customer has purchased.
Charge Metric: Computing environment, for production use or for non-production use
Charges for the program are based on processors attached or available to it. The total number of
processors that are attached or available to the program may not exceed the number authorized by the
applicable Proof of Entitlement (PoEs). If the total number of processors exceeds the quantity in
the customer's PoE, the customer must notify IBM or its reseller as stated in the IPLA.

The following is a summary of the licensing terms for each product.
WebSphere Federation Server
To properly license WebSphere Federation Server in a high availability
configuration, refer to the
Terms and conditions for high availability/failover
section.
Limited use license of DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition: DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition includes
portions of DB2 Enterprise Server Edition. The customer is authorized to install and use one copy
of DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition only in association with the customer's licensed use of the
program for the storage and management of data used or generated by the program, and not for other
data management purposes. Examples of data used or generated by the program includes, but is not
limited to, Materialized Query Tables (MQTs), stored procedures and tables used in federated queries
and are stored locally. DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition can be used as a repository for data
generated by the program and can be used as a repository for application data that is part of a
federated system. A federated system allows the customer to query and manipulate data located on
distributed data servers as though the data were located in a single data server. The customer is
not authorized to install any separately purchasable features that are available for DB2 unless the
customer purchases a fully licensed version of DB2 Enterprise Server Edition from IBM or the
customer's DB2 Reseller. Examples of separately purchasable features include the Database
Partitioning Feature, the Performance Optimization Feature for ESE, and the Storage Optimization
Feature.
If the customer uses the Program with a separately licensed DB2 V9 data server, the license terms of
that data server take precedence over these terms.
Limited use license of WebSphere MQ:
For each server on which the Program is installed, the customer is entitled to install, from the
media provided with the Program, the WebSphere MQ runtime components provided to support the
customer's licensed use of the Program. The customer's use of WebSphere MQ is limited to use in
support of The customer's licensed use of the Program, and is also subject to the terms and
conditions of the license agreement which accompanies WebSphere MQ, except as limited in this
license. The WebSphere MQ program may not be used for any other purpose unless a full license for
WebSphere MQ is purchased from IBM or the customer's reseller.
When used with WebSphere Federation Server, the customer is entitled to use WebSphere MQ for the
following:

To enable communication across multiple WS Information Integration product servers

To enable the WS Federation Server WBI Wrapper to communicate with a WebSphere Business Integration
Adaptor, licenses for which must be separately purchased from IBM or the customer's reseller.
WebSphere Federation Server includes POE for two concurrent user licenses of IBM Rational Data
Architect V6.1. If customer require more than two concurrent user licenses, they must acquire
additional licenses of IBM Rational Data Architect V6.1 separately from IBM or its reseller.
WebSphere Replication Server
To properly license WebSphere Replication Server in a high availability configuration, refer to the
Terms and conditions for high availability/failover
section.
Limited use license of WebSphere Federation Server:
WebSphere Replication Server includes data federation components of WebSphere Federation Server.
The customer is authorized to install and use these data federation components on the same system as
WebSphere Replication Server only in support of the customer's licensed use of WebSphere Replication
Server. For example, the customer is entitled to use the data federation components for access to
replication source or target data located in Informix, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, Sybase,
Teradata databases to the extent supported by WebSphere Replication Server. Use of the data
federation components by applications other than WebSphere Replication Server requires that the
customer acquire a separate PoE for WebSphere Federation Server from IBM or the customer's reseller.
Limited use license of DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition:

is authorized to install and use one copy of DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition only in association

may be installed and used on the same system as the WebSphere Replication Server Q Apply and SQL
Apply components for data replication of DB2 for z/OS and OS/390, DB2 Server for VSE & VM, and DB2
for iSeries data servers. Use of the DB2 Connect component for any other purpose requires that the
customer acquire a separate PoE for a DB2 Connect program from IBM or the customer's DB2 reseller.
Limited use license of WebSphere MQ:
For each server on which the program is installed, the customer is entitled to install, from the
media provided with the program, the WebSphere MQ run-time components provided to support the
customer's licensed use of the Program. The customer's use of WebSphere MQ is limited to use in
support of the customer's licensed use of the program, and is also subject to the terms and
conditions of the license agreement which accompanies WebSphere MQ, except as limited in this
license. The WebSphere MQ program may not be used for any other purpose unless a full license for
WebSphere MQ is purchased from IBM or the customer's reseller.
When used with WebSphere Replication Server, the customer is entitled to use WebSphere MQ for data
replication and administration for supported data sources and targets supported by WebSphere
Replication Server.
WebSphere Data Event Publisher
To properly license WebSphere Data Event Publisher in a high-availability configuration, refer to
the
Terms and conditions for high availability/failover
section.
Limited use license of DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition:
DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition includes portions of DB2 Enterprise Server Edition. The customer
is authorized to install and use one copy of DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition only in association
with the customer's licensed use of the program for the storage and management of data used and
generated by the program and not for other data management purposes. Examples of data used and
generated by the program include, but is not limited to, event publishing control tables. DB2
Restricted Enterprise Edition is to be used only by the internal components of the program. For
example, DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition can be used as a repository for configuration information
generated by the Program but cannot be used to build or extend custom applications that store
business data; this license does not permit inbound connections to the database from other
applications for queries or report generation. The customer is not authorized to install any
separately purchasable features that are available for DB2 unless the customer purchases a fully
licensed version of DB2 Enterprise Server Edition from IBM or the customer's DB2 reseller.
If the customer uses the Program with a separately licensed DB2 V9 data server, the license terms of
that data server take precedence over these terms.
Limited use license of WebSphere MQ:
For each server on which the program is installed, the customer is entitled to install, from the

customer's licensed use of the program. The customer's use of WebSphere MQ is limited to use in

Terms and conditions for high availability/failover licensing
The customer must license this configuration under the same charge metric as the licensed program
the customer purchased. In High-availability configurations the customer must fully license the
Program for the primary server that is used to service user workloads; additional servers acting as
backups are called stand-by servers that may be deployed in Active or Idle configurations.
Active stand-by configuration
In an active standby configuration, the program is operational on all servers to service user
transactions or queries. Because each of the active standby servers is used to operate the Program
for user transactions or queries before or after a failure, the Program must be fully licensed on
all Active Servers. In Active Stand-by, the customer must license the program for the number of
processors attached or available to the active standby server.
Idle Stand-by configuration
In an idle standby configuration, all servers have the program installed, however, at least one of
the servers does not have the program operational to service user transactions or query workloads.
A server is considered "idle" if it is used exclusively for administrative actions that assist in
failover scenarios such as having a database in roll-forward pending state to support log shipping
or keeping a standby database synchronized by replicating data transactions from the primary server
using data replication "apply" processing. In Idle Stand-y, the customer must license the program
for one processor per idle server only, irrespective to the number of processors attached or
available to the server. The customer is entitled to install DB2 Restricted Enterprise Edition and
WebSphere MQ on the same Idle Standby server as the Program.
