Information security is one of the top concerns both for business leaders and for those responsible
for IT.
Ensuring that information moving around the enterprise retains its integrity and is protected from
unauthorized access is an ongoing challenge and responsibility for all organizations.
The WebSphere® MQ Extended Security Edition V6.0 package helps organizations address these
challenges. It combines two existing IBM products (at the version/release levels stated below) into
one "value-add" package at a single price from IBM:
-
WebSphere MQ V6.0 (program number 5724-H72)
-
Tivoli® Access Manager for Business Integration V5.1.1 (program number 5698-AMM)
Under this package offering, each component product is separately licensed and installable, and is
accompanied by its own unique license terms, which are displayed for acceptance when you install the
product. Those license terms are also viewable in advance by means of the IBM Software License
Agreements Web site at
Moreover it is IBM's intent that the service end dates for the two
components of this package will be aligned with each other.
WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition V6.0 can also be acquired as an
upgrade from WebSphere MQ.
The combination of WebSphere MQ and Tivoli Access Manager for Business
Integration enables you more conveniently to extend the base security
policies provided within WebSphere MQ, adding end-to-end,
application-level data protection, and enterprise-wide remote management
of security policies. By acquiring the two components in this convenient
way, you can quickly deploy these advanced features to secure many of
your current production environments without changing your existing
WebSphere MQ applications.
Advanced security services are essential for high-value message
transactions where you need:
-
Integrity and confidentiality of data while resident on a queue
-
Individual message encapsulation and auditability
-
Tracking of message origin to a specific application on a system instead
of a channel
-
Security for only a subset of the message traffic on a single channel
These advanced security services are compatible with:
-
WebSphere Message Broker
-
WebSphere Event Broker
WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition is offered under a per-processor
license model just as WebSphere MQ is today.

WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition V6.0 delivers a special edition of WebSphere MQ V6.0 with
increased security features.
In addition to providing the reliable messaging services of WebSphere MQ, WebSphere MQ Extended
Security Edition also offers a multiplatform security management solution that provides data
protection for WebSphere MQ-based applications, without the need to modify or even recompile them.
This enhanced data protection acts at the application layer, above the link or channel level, so
that the integrity and confidentiality of messages can be preserved and demonstrated not just while
messages are in transit between systems, but also while they are under the control of WebSphere MQ
(that is, while residing in a message queue). This is critical when using WebSphere MQ to process
personally identifiable information or other types of sensitive data, such as high value
transactions. WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition can help clients as part of their regulator
compliance efforts to meet their security goals and obligations.
With WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition, you gain the flexibility to add application-level data
protection and remote security policy administration to the broad set of security services
previously available in WebSphere MQ. The application-level data protection services in WebSphere
MQ Extended Security Edition add another dimension to the link-level data protection services
available in WebSphere MQ. For example, application-level data protection captures message data and
secures it before the message is placed onto a queue.
For even greater flexibility, messages can be individually digitally signed or signed and encrypted
based on the policy you set. If you want, you can define your security policy so that only a subset
of the messages passing over a single channel is secured. Further, when using the application-level
data protection, each message is signed with a unique private key associated with the sending
application. Message origin can be traced to the originating application instead of only to the
originating channel. Individual messages are encrypted under unique keys, helping to remove the
threat of compromising the encryption key through repetitive use.
WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition can save you development expense and time. It can remove the
need to reengineer and modify your applications to secure message data from within each application.
Reengineering existing production applications is a very expensive process, the costs of which only
begin with the application recoding expenses.
Licensing cryptography routines, training your staff, designing, and implementing a real-time key
exchange process and budgeting for your ongoing maintenance cost of custom security code make this
approach to solving your security problems impractical. With WebSphere MQ Extended Security
Edition, you may see an immediate return on investment upon deploying it.
For processing sensitive data like financial transactions, human resources records, medical records,
or any other type of personally identifiable information (PII), application-level data protection
yields a true end-to-end security model.
WebSphere MQ Extended Security also enables remote administration of security policies on queue
managers and on individual queues. These include:
-
Put and get access control permissions, including time of day and day of week restriction.
-
Data protection options (none, integrity, and privacy).
-
Audit options that allow generation of a specific security audit record for each open, put, get, and
close operation showing the security policy in place and whether it was successfully enforced. This
can be critical in demonstrating compliance with legislation like the United States Health Insurance
Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) or similar mandates in other countries.
Remote administration is performed via a Web-based utility with an easy-to-use GUI for setting,
viewing, and updating security policies. A delegation capability allows IT organizations to
maintain control over the enterprise security infrastructure for WebSphere MQ Extended Security
Edition and still grant a specific department or line-of-business the ability to manage its subset
of resources. Administration can also be done via scripting using a command line interface.
An enterprise-wide view of these security policies, with the ability for authorized administrators
to remotely update them, can greatly improve efficiencies and reduce administrative costs.
In this release of WebSphere MQ Extended Security Edition, the advanced security services are
provided on a subset of the operating systems on which WebSphere MQ is available. This subset
includes:
-
AIX® V5.3
-
Sun Solaris 8, 9, and 10
-
HP-UX 11i

Processor:
In Full Capacity charging, Proofs of Entitlement (PoEs) must be acquired for all activated
"processors" (available for use) that are on the server where the Program or a component of the
Program is run.
-
If there are Program Components included in the offering whose function is not to be included in the
charge metric, these must be listed in the Program-unique Terms of the License Information.
-
IBM defines a physical processor in a computer as a functional unit that interprets and executes
instructions. A physical processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more
arithmetic and logic units.
-
Multi-core technology allows two or more processors (commonly called "cores") to be active on a
single silicon chip. Unless otherwise announced, with multi-core technology, IBM considers each
core to be a physical processor. For example, in a dual-core chip, there are two physical
processors residing on the single silicon chip.
-
In the zSeries Integrated Facility for Linux (IFL) environment, each IFL engine is considered a
single "physical processor."
-
Threading, a technique which makes a single processor seem to perform as two or more, does NOT
affect the count of physical processors.
-
Where "blade" technology is employed, each "blade" is considered a separate server and charging is
based upon the total number of processors on the blade on which the Program is run.
Sub-capacity processor:
The required authorized use level for eligible Programs is based upon the highest utilization
of the partition(s) where the Program or a component of the Program, executes. Customer agrees to
periodically report Program use to IBM using an IBM license management tool.
-
The number of authorizations you must acquire is the smaller value of either of the following
methods:
-
(a) The total number of activated (available for use) processors in the machine, or
-
(b) The sum of (i) and (ii) as follows (any remaining fraction of a processor must be rounded up to
a full processor in the final aggregation)
-
(i) When the Program is run in partitions with dedicated processors, the sum of the Processing Units
of those partitions, and
-
(ii) When the Program is run in partitions that are members of a Shared Processing Pool, the smaller
of:
-
The number of processors assigned to the pool, or
-
The sum of the Virtual Processors of each Uncapped Partition plus the Processing Units in each
Capped Partition running a Program
-
z/VM® Guest Charging
-
(a) The total number of activated (available for use) processors in the machine, or
-
(b) The sum of (i) and (ii) as follows (any remaining fraction of a processor must be rounded up to
a full processor in the final aggregation)
-
(i) When the Program is run in VM Guests with dedicated processors, the sum of the Integrated
Facility for Linux (IFL) engines of those VM Guests, and
-
(ii) When the Program is run in VM Guests that are members of a Shared Processing Pool (z/VM), the
smaller of:
-
The number of processors assigned to the z/VM pool, or
-
The sum of the IFL engines in each z/VM pool running a Program
Per managed processor:
Charges are based on the activated processors on the machines in the computing environment
affiliated with the Program rather than on the server where the Program is run. The managed
processors which require PoEs are defined both in the Charges section of the Announcement or the
License Information's Program-unique Terms.
-
If there are Program Components included in the offering whose function is not to be included in the
charge metric, these must be listed in the Program-unique Terms of the License Information.
-
IBM defines a physical processor in a computer as a functional unit that interprets and executes
instructions. A physical processor consists of at least an instruction control unit and one or more
arithmetic and logic units.
-

Sub-capacity for selected middleware products:
Sub-capacity licensing on a per-processor basis is available for selected middleware products.
To offer sub-capacity licensing, IBM software products implement IBM Tivoli License Manager within
their offerings so that customers can monitor and report quarterly to IBM on their use of the
programs on a continuous basis.
More information can be found on the Passport Advantage Web site
Eligibility requirements for sub-capacity licensing:
To be eligible for sub-capacity licensing terms on this product, you
must agree to install and configure IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM
Software, in accordance with the IBM Tivoli License Manager publications,
and to enable the collection of program use data on all eligible machines
subject to sub-capacity terms.
For those machines running programs with sub-capacity licensing terms,
you must use IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software to monitor
program use and submit to IBM an IBM Use Report each calendar quarter.
Multiple copies of IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software or IBM
Tivoli License Manager are not required. You can use more copies if you
need them to support your operational environment, but only one copy is
required to monitor all your sub-capacity licensed products.
Additionally, if this is the first product you have licensed under
sub-capacity terms, you must agree to the terms of an attachment to your
Passport Advantage or Passport Advantage Express contract and submit a
new Passport Advantage enrollment form. First-time sub-capacity clients
also have an opportunity to ensure a Primary Business Contact is
established for their contracts.
For more information on required and entitled license capacity, license
requirements and reporting refer to Software Announcement Letter
205-093
, dated April 19, 2005.
If you order (this product) under sub-capacity terms, IBM Tivoli License
Manager for IBM Software will be made available to you if you do not
already have one. You must install and configure this tool for your
sub-capacity products. Alternately, you can use Tivoli License Manager.
Once the license manager software is installed, you will be required to
register online (IBM may need to contact you in order to finalize the
registration process). You must monitor program use on a continuous
basis with an IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software and submit IBM
Use Reports to IBM on a calendar quarterly basis.
IBM Tivoli License Manager for IBM Software is documented in the

of the Program, this warranty provides the customer with access to
databases containing Program information and FAQs, including any known
fixes to defects, which the customer can download or otherwise obtain and
install.
Program technical support:
Technical support of a program product will be available for a
minimum of three years from the general availability date, as long as
your Software Maintenance is in effect. This technical support allows
you to obtain assistance (via telephone or electronic means) from IBM for
product-specific, task-oriented questions regarding the installation and
operation of the program product. Software Maintenance also provides you
with access to updates, releases, and versions of the program. Customers
will be notified, via announcement letter, of discontinuance of support
with 12 months' notice. If you require additional technical support from
IBM, including an extension of support beyond the discontinuance date,
contact your IBM representative or IBM Business Partner. This extension
may be available for a fee.

the authorized use is limited; these usage restrictions are listed in the
Program's License Information titled Program Unique Terms. Refer to this
announcement letter for further clarification and examples of permitted
use.
-
Charging and License Use Management
Charges for authorized use of the Program are based on Processor License
Units (PLUs). The use of the Program on any server machine or extended
transactional client requires one PLU to be acquired (from IBM or an IBM
Business Partner) for each processor core contained in the machine on
which any copy of the Program (with the exception of other client
components, remote administration, or sample programs) is to run. PLUs
are required for every server machine on which the Program is installed.
You are also required to obtain a corresponding number of additional PLUs
if the Program installation is moved to a server machine with a greater
number of processor cores or if any additional processor cores are added
to, or configured on, the server machine on which the Program is
installed.
Failure to comply with the requirement for the appropriate number of PLUs
will invalidate the terms of this license.
No separate server or client authorizations are required to license any
other component part of the Program, including the Information Center and
the MQ Explorer.
You should retain all Passport Advantage documents as Proofs of
Entitlement.
-
Specific restrictions also apply to various components of the Program, as
described below.

Software maintenance applies:
Yes
Software Maintenance, previously referred to as Software Subscription and
Technical Support, is included in the IBM International Passport
Advantage Agreement. Installation and technical support is provided by
the Software Maintenance offering of the IBM International Passport
Advantage Agreement. This fee service provides voice and electronic
access to IBM support organizations.
IBM includes one year of Software Maintenance with the initial license
acquisition of each Program acquired. The initial period of Software
Maintenance can be extended by the purchase of a renewal option, if
available.
While your Software Maintenance is in effect, IBM provides you assistance
for your routine, short-duration installation and usage (how-to)
questions; and code-related questions. IBM provides assistance via
telephone and, if available, electronic access, only to your information

IBM Global Services has transformed its delivery of hardware and software support services to put
you on the road to higher systems availability. IBM Electronic Services is a Web-enabled solution
that provides you with an exclusive, no-additional-charge enhancement to the service and support
available on the IBM eServer® platform. These services provide the opportunity for greater system
availability due to faster problem resolution and preemptive monitoring. IBM Electronic Services is
comprised of two separate but complementary elements: IBM Electronic Services news page and IBM
Electronic Service Agent.
IBM Electronic Services news page provides you with a single Internet entry point that replaces the
multiple entry points traditionally used by customers to access IBM Internet services and support.
The news page enables you to gain easier access to IBM resources for assistance in resolving
technical problems.
The IBM Electronic Service Agent is no-additional charge software that resides on your IBM eServer
system. It is designed to proactively monitor events and transmit system inventory information to
IBM on a periodic, customer-defined timetable. The IBM Electronic Service Agent tracks system
inventory, hardware error logs, and performance information. If the server is under a current IBM
maintenance service agreement or within the IBM warranty period, the Service Agent automatically
reports hardware problems to IBM. Early knowledge about potential problems enables IBM to provide
proactive service that may result in higher system availability and performance. In addition,
information collected through the Service Agent will be made available to IBM service support
representatives when they are helping answer your questions or diagnosing problems.
